Union endorsements in the Kansas City mayoral election have been split down the middle.
HOWEVER, the more active union advocates are nailing Quinton Lucas and basically calling him a back stabber and double dealer.
Here's their contention . . .

He says that he wants more transparency and accountability at City Hall, but when he had the opportunity to change things, he killed a proposal that would have reformed the city’s ethics laws and voted to keep business as usual at City Hall. When asked about his position, Lucas didn’t feel there was a “gift crisis” at City Hall. Councilman Lucas continues to accept thousands of dollars in gifts and contributions from large companies who do business with the city and actively seek city contracts, including several from Johnson County. He even sponsored an ordinance to give a no-bid contract to his colleagues at his former law firm."

ReplyDeleteI'm not convinced that Quinton is worse, he's just more obvious. When you look at the level of Jolie Justus and her shortcomings then it becomes clear that she's out to rip off KC by billions of dollars whereas Lucas just seems sloppy like most officials.

ReplyDeleteOne form of humor is irony: attacking Lucas for supporting the Council hiring one of the nation's expert law firms (with whom he had an INTERNSHIP nearly a decade earlier) to stop the mayor and Jolie from giving away a billion-dollar no-bid airport contract that they had decided in a secret meeting at the exclusive River Club. Eight other members of the Council supported that same emergency hiring.
All of this drama is just the silly season personified.
