TKC QUESTION TONIGHT: WILL JOLIE JUSTUS OR QUINTON LUCAS FIX CONSTANT KANSAS CITY FLOODING CRISIS?!?!

Every time it rains, it floods in Kansas City.

Both urban core and rural areas see rising tides when the downpour is anything less than a sprinkle.

Context:

Remember that the Kansas City, Missouri Clean Water Act Settlement with the EPA forced storm sewer repair that still hasn't yet taken hold.

- Brush Creek On The Plaza continues to smell like an open, used toilet at high tide.

- A few fixes in the Southland came too late for small biz that was chased out of a flood zone created by infrastructure neglect.

- At the furthest end of the Kansas City Northland, streets regularly turn into rivers with rainfall over a few inches.

And so . . .

Given that they didn't really address the issue during their tenure on council and this 2019 mayoral campaign is more about personality and culture war issues rather than neighborhood complaints . . .

WHICH MAYORAL CANDIDATE IS MORE LIKELY TO FIX KANSAS CITY'S LONGSTANDING FLOODING CRISIS: JOLIE JUSTUS OR QUINTON LUCAS?!?!?

  1. The problem lies with the City Manager's office. Troy needs to answer this. Of course the mayor and council deserve some blame as well but the maintenance of KCMO infrastructure falls on the shoulders of the city manger. If voters don't like the job that Troy Schulte is doing, they need to ask for a change from the candidate they're supporting for mayor.

    1. Jolie wants to keep Troy around, Quinton says he wants to let him go. But Quinton says a lot of things that he never backs up with action.

    2. I'd like to believe that Troy was responsible and firing him would fix the problem. But not really. Look at who REALLY runs the water department. It ain't Troy or anybody at City Hall. They're a big company and they put money on every political candidate. I'll give you three guesses who they are and the first two don't. They run the water department with contracts so expensive that they make the airport look like peanuts. The best part of it all is that they're so entrenched in the KC political system that nobody notices. Good luck figuring it out, the people who have already live in Johnson or Platte County and watch the disaster just for entertainment. Sorry suckers.

  2. Trick question. The answer is, neither one of these worthless candidates will fix flooding or any other problem.

  7. We can fix the flooding until will drain the swamp at City Hall. Both of the candidates are bottom dwellers but then again, so are most of the commenters at TKC.

    Bwahahahahahahahha!

    Think about it.

  8. I think Jim nailed it...

The Left seeks the equivalent of an extended childhood for all, lived out in a universal safe space, where all goods and services come magically free from a kindly parent-like government, and the sunny days are spent training unicorns to find rainbows.

    Only a KCMO version

    1. This is a trick question, the flooding is just going to get worse. It's not just KC but across the world. Go ahead and deny climate change even if your seeing it right now.

  10. 9:56 Useless comment unless you name this mysterious group who controls the water department. Innuendo and conspiracy theory with no actual information.
It may indeed be the case this nefarious entity pulls many hidden strings in KC, but just who are you describing.

Anyway, MLK, 18th & Vine, new hotels and the Toy Train and its expansion, ad infinitum are much more important than flooding.

  11. WHICH MAYORAL CANDIDATE IS MORE LIKELY TO FIX KANSAS CITY'S LONGSTANDING FLOODING CRISIS: JOLIE JUSTUS OR QUINTON LUCAS?!?!?

    Hmm...let's examine this question.

Jolie Justus says she's extremely familiar with dykes, but I don't think that's the answer to KCMO's persistent flooding problems.

Quinton Lucas says he knows how to plug a manhole and drain fluids, but I don't think that is the skill-set that solves KCMO's recurrent flooding crisis either.

Hmm...what to do with these two? Can we ditch them both and get a primary do-over?

Lots of sidewalk flooding today, so much for those GO Bond repairs.

  14. Indian Creek and Brush Creek are down stream from Johnson County and is the source for much of the flow. In the 1970’s, a number of small lakes were going to be created south of I-435 and Johnson County land interests wanted to develop land that would of contained reservoirs. Indian Creek flooding is the result of greedy Johnson County developers and politicians.

  18. Fuck no - NO ONE in City Hall, or, The Water Department is worried about the flooding at all. It's all about "Racism" and "Identity Politics".

What we have here, in KC, is a smaller version of Baltimore that is growing more robust with "Protected Class" criminals every day, who are "protected" in order for shitheels like Lucas and Jolie to acquire station.

    HERE IS YOUR FUTURE KC.

It's all a nasty plot. It's like this dude wuz sayin... New World Order globalists are seeking to eliminate 90% of the human race, in a bid to protect the environment. Those for mass death have convinced themselves that the only way to save the planet is to eliminate “useless eaters.”

But seriously I am horrified that planner airheads are going to ruin Gladstone Blvd with bike Lanes. I ride every day that isn't terrible weather and don't understand the weird fad of expensive bike Lanes when the streets are full of metal plates, potholes, and haven't seen a street sweeper in years.
