TKC EARTH DAY BREAKING NEWS!!! JOLIE JUSTUS AND QUINTON LUCAS ANNOUNCE GREEN NEW DEAL CONVERSATION WITH LOCAL ENVIRONMENTALIST LEADERS!!!

Apropos for Earth Day, Kansas City mayoral candidates join the "Green New Deal" conversation this week.

To wit . . .

CHECK THIS BOLD EARTH DAY ANNOUNCEMENT OF KANSAS CITY MAYORAL CONTENDERS JOINING THE LOCAL ECO-FIGHT!!!

So far, our Kansas City contender for the top job at city hall haven't shown a great deal of enthusiasm but amid the silly season, both are wise to follow the path of AOC in appealing to a mostly progressive local urban core voter base and joining this nationwide movement.

And so, here's the word a lot of detail on the upcoming effort to save the world FIRST on TKC . . .

Mayoral candidates Jolie Justus and Quinton Lucas to appear at Green New Deal Tour coming to Kansas City

Kansas City, Missouri—Students, community members, and local leaders will host a town hall at Unity Temple on April 24 to launch the next phase of the campaign for the Green New Deal and share how the 10-year mobilization to stop climate change and create millions of good jobs would improve the lives of people in Kansas City. There will be a discussion panel, cohosted by the Sunrise Movement—which aims to permanently change the conversation on climate policy in the U.S.—and Sierra Club—a nationwide network of 3.5 million grassroots changemakers, with members in Kansas City advocating for local climate solutions. Speakers will highlight the urgent need to expand affordable housing and provide safe water infrastructure. This town hall will be one of over 250 similar events happening in churches, classrooms, and union halls across the country this spring as part of the national Road to a Green New Deal tour.

Speakers include:

- Jolie Justus and Quinton Lucas will each participate in the discussion about climate action and Kansas City’s role in a carbon-free economy

- Tara Raghuveer: Director of the KC Tenants, who organize to ensure that everyone in KC has a safe, accessible, and affordable home.

- Kristin Riott: Executive director of Bridging the Gap, who work to make the Kansas City region sustainable by increasing energy efficiency and averting millions of pounds of emissions.

- Jack Vandeleuv, moderator: young local activist, whose appearance on Fox News went viral

WHAT: A town hall event featuring young people and community leaders discussing the promise of the Green New Deal for the Heartland. The Green New Deal is a proposal to mobilize every aspect of American society and get 100% of power from clean, renewable, and zero-emission sources by 2030, guarantee a living-wage job for anyone who needs one, and facilitate a just transition for both workers and frontline communities.

WHEN: April 24 at 6:30-8:30 p.m. Doors at 6pm.

WHERE: Unity Temple, 701 W. 47th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64103

WHO: Sunrise Movement and Sierra Club

WHY: In 2018, young people put the Green New Deal on the national agenda and permanently changed the conversation on climate policy in this country. Since then, the movement backing the Green New Deal has exploded and is shaping up to be a top issue in the 2020 elections. 100 members of Congress have co-sponsored Sen. Markey and Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s resolution, and polls show that the Green New Deal is broadly supported among voters of both parties. Sunrise has added more than 150 new local chapters since November, and is growing every day.

And so, once again, we put it to our blog community . . .

WILL THESE SPEAKERS HELP KANSAS CITY SAVE THE PLANET?!?

You decide . . .

  1. Good for them. KC needs some leadership on this issue. So far we've only shown interest in building wasteful high rise luxury apartments.

  2. Is this a harbinger of things to come?

    Working together, Quinton and Jolie?

So when Sly James beat Mike Burke, who refused to actually campaign, and in fact just wanted to show up at events that Sly set up for him, Burke got a hotel development deal. Worth millions.

Imagine that. Coming in second, while playing nice, sets one up financially.

So when Quinton Lucas wins, as he surely must, since Jolie, Sly's designated survivor, only got 33%, meaning that 67% voted NOT JOLIE,and none of them will change their minds, what does she want? What set aside will she be gifted?

Only TKC reports what is likely to happen, months before it does.

Jolie is a lawyer, but her sandpit is doing pro bono work for her firm. Will she be awarded a tiara, and become the Duchess of Affordable Housing??? But wait, that would be awkward, given her granting of all those TIFs and CID's and free parking lots for One Light, Two Light, Three Light, more light?
(Sorry, Dr. Seuss hacked into my 'puter there.)

  9. Can we have a city that has decent schools that families actually want to go to?

Can we have a city where the roads are actually paved and not ruined pieces of shit?

Can we have a city where there is less violence?

  16. The socialist Green New Deal doofuses will be happy when we're all eating only kale, cou-cous, rice and goat's head soup with our soymilk. Soon, it will be only lawn weeds and dandelion hooch. Wait! The goats will eat it all!

To conserve resources further, they'll outlaw using too much laundry detergents, shampoos and deodorants. Resource depleting clothing manufacturing and transporting same will be ceased. So, going around in robes and being towel-headed becomes custom, then mandated. School uniforms will be so simple for parents to maintain. Too busy to catch up the family wash? Grab a sheet off the bed, shake out the bath towel---toss 'em up on the camel back headed for school---buses have all been converted to affordable housing! You know, gotta cut that fossil fuels consumption!

Politicians who gloat and float about a Green New Deal are the biggest polluters of the Earth there is. They cause the usage of large amounts of fossil fuel to support them and their entourage, then there is all that shit flying out of their mouths everyday polluting the minds of people stupid enough to listen to them.
