TKC EARTH DAY BREAKING NEWS!!! JOLIE JUSTUS AND QUINTON LUCAS ANNOUNCE GREEN NEW DEAL CONVERSATION WITH LOCAL ENVIRONMENTALIST LEADERS!!!
Apropos for Earth Day, Kansas City mayoral candidates join the "Green New Deal" conversation this week.
To wit . . .
CHECK THIS BOLD EARTH DAY ANNOUNCEMENT OF KANSAS CITY MAYORAL CONTENDERS JOINING THE LOCAL ECO-FIGHT!!!
So far, our Kansas City contender for the top job at city hall haven't shown a great deal of enthusiasm but amid the silly season, both are wise to follow the path of AOC in appealing to a mostly progressive local urban core voter base and joining this nationwide movement.
And so, here's the word a lot of detail on the upcoming effort to save the world FIRST on TKC . . .
Mayoral candidates Jolie Justus and Quinton Lucas to appear at Green New Deal Tour coming to Kansas City
Kansas City, Missouri—Students, community members, and local leaders will host a town hall at Unity Temple on April 24 to launch the next phase of the campaign for the Green New Deal and share how the 10-year mobilization to stop climate change and create millions of good jobs would improve the lives of people in Kansas City. There will be a discussion panel, cohosted by the Sunrise Movement—which aims to permanently change the conversation on climate policy in the U.S.—and Sierra Club—a nationwide network of 3.5 million grassroots changemakers, with members in Kansas City advocating for local climate solutions. Speakers will highlight the urgent need to expand affordable housing and provide safe water infrastructure. This town hall will be one of over 250 similar events happening in churches, classrooms, and union halls across the country this spring as part of the national Road to a Green New Deal tour.
Speakers include:
- Jolie Justus and Quinton Lucas will each participate in the discussion about climate action and Kansas City’s role in a carbon-free economy
- Tara Raghuveer: Director of the KC Tenants, who organize to ensure that everyone in KC has a safe, accessible, and affordable home.
- Kristin Riott: Executive director of Bridging the Gap, who work to make the Kansas City region sustainable by increasing energy efficiency and averting millions of pounds of emissions.
- Jack Vandeleuv, moderator: young local activist, whose appearance on Fox News went viral
WHAT: A town hall event featuring young people and community leaders discussing the promise of the Green New Deal for the Heartland. The Green New Deal is a proposal to mobilize every aspect of American society and get 100% of power from clean, renewable, and zero-emission sources by 2030, guarantee a living-wage job for anyone who needs one, and facilitate a just transition for both workers and frontline communities.
WHEN: April 24 at 6:30-8:30 p.m. Doors at 6pm.
WHERE: Unity Temple, 701 W. 47th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64103
WHO: Sunrise Movement and Sierra Club
WHY: In 2018, young people put the Green New Deal on the national agenda and permanently changed the conversation on climate policy in this country. Since then, the movement backing the Green New Deal has exploded and is shaping up to be a top issue in the 2020 elections. 100 members of Congress have co-sponsored Sen. Markey and Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s resolution, and polls show that the Green New Deal is broadly supported among voters of both parties. Sunrise has added more than 150 new local chapters since November, and is growing every day.

And so, once again, we put it to our blog community . . .
WILL THESE SPEAKERS HELP KANSAS CITY SAVE THE PLANET?!?
You decide . . .
Good for them. KC needs some leadership on this issue. So far we've only shown interest in building wasteful high rise luxury apartments.
ReplyDeleteKansas City politicians are Occasio-Cortez come election time but Pendergast the rest of the year.
DeleteWonder if they will answer if they will answer for all of the garbage that they havne't cleaned up while in office. The only council person who did anything on that issue was Heather Hall.
DeleteIs this a harbinger of things to come?
ReplyDeleteWorking together, Quinton and Jolie?
So when Sly James beat Mike Burke, who refused to actually campaign, and in fact just wanted to show up at events that Sly set up for him, Burke got a hotel development deal. Worth millions.
Imagine that. Coming in second, while playing nice, sets one up financially.
So when Quinton Lucas wins, as he surely must, since Jolie, Sly's designated survivor, only got 33%, meaning that 67% voted NOT JOLIE,and none of them will change their minds, what does she want? What set aside will she be gifted?
Only TKC reports what is likely to happen, months before it does.
Jolie is a lawyer, but her sandpit is doing pro bono work for her firm. Will she be awarded a tiara, and become the Duchess of Affordable Housing??? But wait, that would be awkward, given her granting of all those TIFs and CID's and free parking lots for One Light, Two Light, Three Light, more light?
(Sorry, Dr. Seuss hacked into my 'puter there.)
I love it!
DeleteTracy favors Lucas!

The KEY LESSON you should learn from EARTH DAY:
ReplyDeleteBe sure to responsibly recycle and compost your Democrats,….so that someday they will be good for something.
^Dull.
ReplyDeleteThe Green new deal is to take your GREEN. A FOOL Listing to Politicians Promises.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteUmmm green New Deal top issue? NO it's not! Green New Deal is broadly supported among voters of both parties? NO, that's NOT TRUE!
^^and yet it is. Weird.
ReplyDelete10:40
ReplyDeleteShut your piehole, Asperger's freak.
Keep whackin' that underdeveloped peter while Mommy is at the Dollar General.
So just how much of KCMO's revenues will Jolie or Quentin's owners in Kansas allow them to waste on environmental issues?
ReplyDeleteIsn't all future cash earmarked for Development Subsidies?
Can we have a city that has decent schools that families actually want to go to?
ReplyDeleteCan we have a city where the roads are actually paved and not ruined pieces of shit?
Can we have a city where there is less violence?
We solve these things first and then I'll listen to a "green deal" pitch
^^Can you move???
ReplyDeleteHahahaha....bigly triggered bitchboi @11:31 is hilarious!
DeleteN.M.N.M.
ReplyDeleteSo which one of the "Leaders" will put some action to their rhetoric? Step up to the plate & vow to halt construction of the airport since the Green New Deal eliminates air travel! Show some guts!
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteNo further comment.
WTF??? Occasional-Cortex and the other Crazies fronting for that "Greed Nut Deal" aim to KILL OFF COWS!!! This is a cowtown!!! It's known for bunches of BBQ afficianados and lovers of fine steaks and BILLIONS OF BURGERS SOLD AT THOSE GOLDEN ARCHES!!!
ReplyDeleteFor the benefit of Mr. Lucas
ReplyDeleteThere will be a show tonight on Unity
Tara and Jack will dance and sing
As Mr. Lucas flies through the ring, don't be late
Messrs Lucas and Justus assure the public
Their production will be second to none
And of course Sly James The Horse dances the waltz
Coo coo cachoo!
Deleteoil is abiogenic, it's renewable! The problem is R&D to stop spills. Trees eat carbon.
ReplyDeleteClean up your superfund sites and stop dumping in the rivers.
The socialist Green New Deal doofuses will be happy when we're all eating only kale, cou-cous, rice and goat's head soup with our soymilk. Soon, it will be only lawn weeds and dandelion hooch. Wait! The goats will eat it all!
ReplyDeleteTo conserve resources further, they'll outlaw using too much laundry detergents, shampoos and deodorants. Resource depleting clothing manufacturing and transporting same will be ceased. So, going around in robes and being towel-headed becomes custom, then mandated. School uniforms will be so simple for parents to maintain. Too busy to catch up the family wash? Grab a sheet off the bed, shake out the bath towel---toss 'em up on the camel back headed for school---buses have all been converted to affordable housing! You know, gotta cut that fossil fuels consumption!
Nothing green about all your regional corn and soy.
ReplyDeleteuntil you fix your waste water plants to stop mucking up the local streams and rives, NOT LISTENING.
ReplyDeleteTom Vilsack has the nerve to claim he created vibrant rural communities!
ReplyDeletePerdue is fuck head!
Democrats and republicans coddled vilsack and his legacy.
ReplyDeleteIf it wasn't an election year neither one of these two clowns would make an appearance.
ReplyDeleteThe environment is just fine!! It is called weather!! Liberalism and Socialism is a sickness.
ReplyDeleteenvironment is not fine, but that doesn't mean 'global warming' or 'climate change' and the methods of rectifying it have not been a political/corporate environmental policy that allows corporations to keep polluting.
ReplyDelete^^Please produce your scientific credentials please. Otherwise you are not qualified to determine what is and is not "global warming" or "climate change." You just another of many mouth-breathing retards who feel they have something to offer on the subject. Here's a clue for you and them: You don't!
ReplyDeletePlease use Listerine please. Otherwise stand way back, or better yet, just shudup! You be pollutin' way too much with that stank breff and soybean farts. Here's a clue for you: You stanky!
Delete"working collaboratively with farmers

12 (iii) by building a more sustainable

so vague as to be virtually useless.
2:04 refute or STFU
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell have we gotten ourselves into with these two losers, we are DOOMED
ReplyDelete2:04 ad hominem attack lazy dumb POS
ReplyDelete'Otherwise you are not qualified to determine what is and is not "global warming" or "climate change."'
ReplyDeletethat doesn't even make sense.
Be careful what you wish for. Goofs wanting geezers to die off will get their Greed Nuts Deal doofuses creating FUBAR fast enough!
ReplyDeletefor folks to know how stinky & dead indian creek is, to understand the gulf dead zone, to understand there is no longer a fishing industry in the great lakes, don't need to understand what climate change or global warming is.
ReplyDeletedon't need to understand global warming or climate change to read all the signs in the lake of ozarks that you may be swimming in fecal water at your own risk.
ReplyDeletePoliticians who gloat and float about a Green New Deal are the biggest polluters of the Earth there is. They cause the usage of large amounts of fossil fuel to support them and their entourage, then there is all that shit flying out of their mouths everyday polluting the minds of people stupid enough to listen to them.
ReplyDeletedo not need to understand climate change or global warming to understand Tyson Foods was held liable for the contamination of Clear Creek, Missouri that resulted in the killing of at least 100,000 fish and they dump more pollutants in US waterways than cargill, koch industries and exxon combined.
ReplyDeleteso go eat a bucket of buffalo wings ya dope.

ReplyDeleteall same person, ya right i done for the day and been done with ur shithole town for decades.
3.9 decades to be precise.
ReplyDeletedon't invite me to your cocktail party, i will find and invite a meth head to piss on your crudite.
ReplyDeleteFucking communists, you may be able to fuck up Kansas City with your vegan bullshit. Once you leave the city to start telling people what to eat and how to live, you better pack a lunch, Fucking idiots
ReplyDeleteDoes the green new deal involve cleaning up the murderers in town? Otherwise you’re a sucker to believe any of the bullshit coming from those two idiots.
ReplyDelete"Stopping climate change", say that a couple of times. Stupidest thing you will ever say twice. The sun is laughing at these idiots.
ReplyDeleteI guess this is the race to make KC just as polluted as China. That is not a worthwhile goal.
ReplyDeleteWill AOC be present to perform knob jobs, and recycle the emissions. That is something I could get behind!
ReplyDeleteapparently not as stanky as your mother
ReplyDelete9:46 for the win. All for a better environment, not so much for a KCPL friendly budget grab with visions from local pols set more on local pork than
ReplyDeleteanything else.
Funny thing is it is going to happen anyway, despite the worst tendencies of the democrats or the republicans.
The stuff in our streams may be the worst thing going on regionally. Don't eat the fish
