The low-turnout contest for Kansas City mayor hasn't elicited much excitement and last night's returns threaten to chase even more people away from polling places.
However . . .
WHILST ADMITTING HE DIDN'T VOTE IN LAST NIGHT'S ELECTION, TRANSIT ACTIVIST CLAY CHASTIAN LAUNCHES HIS RENEWED BID FOR KCMO MAYOR!!!
Admittedly, there are critics who hope Mr. Chastain will abandon his political ambitions.
However . . .
THE CONTEST FOR KANSAS CITY MAYOR WILL BE CLOSE AND FIERCELY LOYAL SUPPORTERS OF MR. CHASTAIN THREATEN TO UPSET THE BALANCE OF POWER!!!
Every vote will count in this contest that could be decided by a razor thin margin and neither Quinton Lucas nor Jolie Justus can afford to give up the votes that Mr. Chastain could siphon away. Make no mistake, Chastain voters (even if they number only in the hundreds) are not easily dissuaded by local pundits and the MSM impulse to run local Democracy like a ratings game and not the foundation of our society wherein every voter and candidate must be afforded their Constitutional rights.
And so, more than any other contender in last night's election . . . Mr. Chastain has the potential to impact the outcome of the contest.
Here's the latest statement from the activist FIRST on TKC . . .
"He's back" and running for mayor as the lone anti-establishment write-in candidate in the general mayoral election.
He said, "but they're in for a big surprise." And so it is that Clay, the anti-crime, anti-establishment, pro-infrastructure pro-average citizen and grassroots candidate for the people, is back by popular demand (90% of registered KCMO voters did not vote for Jolie or Quinton and did not know about Clay's candidacy) to challenge the two winning insider establishment candidates as a mayoral write-in candidate in the general election. And....
Whereas, "Roly Poly Jolie" is solely just a "Slyclone," took part in Sly's secret no-bid airport deal, supported Sly's miserably failed Pre-K sales tax measure and has no specific ideas of her own as how to reduce the violence, fix the infrastructure, lower taxes or grow the City in population and prosperity, and...
Whereas, Quinton, who can't stop talkin race to US, LucAS voted for more wasted tax dollars on 18th & Vine to satisfy special interest, and who voted to waste more City resources and taxpayer money on changing the Paseo to MLK in behalf of special interests and who has taken few specific stances on major City issues and, just like fellow attorney Jolie, has no new innovative ideas on how to fix the City and move it forward beyond race and cultural rhetoric, and...
Whereas, the establishment-oriented MSM (Channel's 4, 5 and 9 and KCUR, KCPT, the Pitch, the Call, KMBZ radio. etc.) all refused to respond to Clay's press releases, ignored Clay's campaign message and downplayed Clay's candidacy and even locked Clay (KCPT) out of the most important mayoral primary debate, and...
Whereas, 85% of KCMO registered voters did not turn out to vote in the primary (including Clay because it was all rigged in favor of establishment candidates), and...
Whereas, the Star did a hit piece on Clay (candidate profile by award winning reporter Melinda Henneberger) right before the vote referring to Clay wrongfully and untruthfully as "angry," has suffered from mental illness ("depression") is in politics just to, "file lawsuits against Kansas City" and "was put on the City's watch list for perceived threats to Mayor Sly James"
Clay officially announces that he is not only a write-in candidate for mayor but that he is also not out to "tip the scales" in favor of one of these two insider establishment candidates over the other. Rather, Clay's sole aim is to beat both of these weak and inept candidates by inspiring the other 85% of KCMO voters to come out and vote for him in the general election. And when they do, Clay believes he will become Kansas City's next mayor and the first not to govern in behalf of corporate America, the elite and special interests, but instead govern in behalf of the common good of all with an emphasis on average Kansas Citians and the least among us.
General election write-in mayoral candidate, Clay Chastain
#############
You decide . . .
He's got my vote.
ReplyDeleteYes, he's got a right to do it but is it really productive to try to sabotage an election? Clay has helped Kansas City immensely and he was one of the first voices to push for better transit. His work to save Union Station really was innovative. But that was the past, I think there are better way for Clay to help KC rather than running for office. I'd like to see him partner with other groups or serve as spokesman for voter initiatives. Clay can still do a lot of good but not like this, not like this.
DeleteThat sounds good but Clay's reputation is toxic to many. He has alienated a lot of people.
DeleteI'm still going to vote for The General.
ReplyDelete^^^ who got even fewer votes than Clay.
ReplyDeleteBut anyway,
Dear Clay,
Is name-calling (Roly Poly Jolie? Seriously?) the hallmark of a grown adult or an angry mentally unstable watch-listed eight-year-old?
Shall we name your therapist here, and reveal how long you've been going to her? And why it obviously isn't working?
Sincerely, The 99.1% of people who didn't vote for you already and won't again.
Let's get all the people who voted for Clay in one place - a big church ought to do.
ReplyDeleteClay can come speak and then they can all drink some grape Kool-Aid, a la Jim Jones.
End of story.
Where do I get my Clay Chastain yard sign?
ReplyDeleteAre their ANY straight people left in this town?
^^^ @10:00 You know, that's the most reasonable thing I've seen written about Clay in years. Agree that his history in KC can't be overlooked. Most elected officials in KC hasn't made the kind of commitment over decades. Honestly, I wish more so-called leaders would step up and get just as involved.
ReplyDeleteYeah I definitely want to vote for someone who calls the other candidates names. We need more schoolyard antics from third-graders running for mayor.
ReplyDeleteAll the way, Clay. Just call her Fatty Fat McFatterson, why don't you?
We can call you Nuttyperv McRagerson. Or Watchy O'Watchlist.
"... the first not to govern in behalf of corporate America, the elite and special interests, but instead govern in behalf of the common good of all with an emphasis on average Kansas Citians and the least among us."
ReplyDeleteThat isn't really true.
It's only different from the last guy, not everyone.
Please stop with the Clay stuff.. he doesn’t even live here
ReplyDelete10pm is that an intentional Switch quote?
ReplyDeleteHe would do more good for KC than Justus and Lucas combined.
ReplyDeleteMo Rage is like Byron neither live here but always sticking their nose into our affairs. Two losers who should have a gay love in.
ReplyDeleteYawn.
ReplyDeleteClay's "involvement" in the upcoming election is pure comedic gold.
ReplyDeleteAnd in an otherwise dismal set of circumstances with two candidates who talk a big "basic services" game, but will quickly revert to the same old upside-down priorities and BS out of the Sly James bag of tricks, at least some thoughtful ideas might have a chance of being discussed.
Discussed, and then forgotten.
And now, on to the Chamber boardroom for a celebration!
It never changes.
@10:00 this election was sabotaged wen Justice and once again Lucas were chosen as the "winners" six months ago by the present Administration (and their willing lackeys at the KC Star), and a fraudulent vote total was declared once again in a KC "election".
ReplyDeleteIf a valid candidate (yes, he meets all requirements) campaigns and receives a majority of the votes via "write-ins", the only thing "sabotaged" would be the fraudulent scheme concocted at 12th & Oak.
These two "unindicted co-conspirators" have NO Credibility after this obvious and odious fraud! Besides which, neither of them lives in this State, both have been proven to be Kansas residents.
Excellent a second choice !

Clay might be the only reason to go to the ballot box. Possibly the best thing about this election so far.

If clay would only get more involved in the race by lots of commercials and meeting people all over the city would he get the recognition he needs to get more votes, people in this town are stupid, they vote for whoever they see on tv because they just don’t care.....

If Clay actually got up into the city, knocked on doors, ran a bit of a campaign, maybe raised some funds to put together some air time. He'd probably do some damage but just because you get some run time on TKC doesn't mean you are going to garner any votes.
ReplyDeleteI understand he's running as an outsider to the establishment but if this guy REALLY wanted to be mayor, he would take some steps to do so.
I will be writing in a name ( only way to say none of the above ), but, it won't be clay's.
ReplyDeleteif you accept that kansas city really is the crappy city it is, you should not care
ReplyDeleteI support what Clay is doing. He's putting pressure on the retards at city hall so people are slowly seeing what going on. We need more of that since city hall is just a directionless retard orgy that has no solution for actual citizens who live in the city.
ReplyDeleteKCMO school are TERRIBLE
Violence and theft are happening all over the place
City services are non-existent
But they try and distract you with airports, boutique trains, and convention hotels.
There's no advantage to living in KCMO over JOCO and someone really needs to address this
Well you sub-one percenters enjoy your Mayor Chastain fantasy.
ReplyDeleteHe will swing nothing.
He will affect nothing.
He will be an amusing two-bit sideshow that will only serve to give you boners.
After the way Clay was treated, he has a right to do anything legal.
ReplyDeleteThe machine doesn't play fair. A lot of people nod yes to the things Clay says, about incompetence and corruption. We now have two mediocre main candidates, neither who I dislike but both of the machine lawyer cloth.
The entrenched insiders of perpetual mediocrity are happy with who the two candidates are, that should tell you something.
I have to hand it to him, he has some serious fight in him. Throughout all of the craps he has been put through at city hall, and by those in city hall, he is still kicking. He will not win, but he can still shake things up and make the race interesting. Too bad there will be more people in the unemployment line than actually being a part of the voter turnout.
ReplyDeleteSly will be working overtime behind the scenes with some of the Freedom Inc goons to make sure his choice is a shoe-in, and to keep Clay out. Fun stuff!
