Don't know where the Census Bureau got their data (from Reese Nichols?), but the entire estimated KC Metro population growth could easily be housed in either of the two "Mushroom Villages" being build along Ambassador Drive and Green Hills Road near KCI, and they're clearing ground for to more just like them.

    The only problems are stated in @8:37's post, the "Developers" are asking $300,000 for a $75,000house, and $1200/mo for a $500 Apartment.

  10. There's no homes being built and the populations is increasing. Simple math.

    There's no financial reason for developers to build 1000-1500 sq ft houses that are the bread and butter of families. That's why new construction these days is limited to 400k+ homes and large condo complexes. Home prices will continue to go up for a long long time

  11. 9:00: The article covers the metro area, not just the city. If you read it, you will see Jackson County increased by 0.37% (2,587 people), and that's the county, not just the part of KC that lies in the county. The largest increase was in Platte County at 13.3%, and again that was the county, not just the part of KC that lies in Platte County. If I did my math correctly, that would mean Platte County went from 90,895 people to 102,985, which certainly does not make it a megalopolis. Sometimes it's best to read before commenting.
