TKC TUESDAY NIGHT QUESTION: SHOULD KANSAS CITY ALLOW BOEING 737 MAX 8 AT MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR NEW AIRPORT?!?!

The new airport is a disaster in the making but another sort of crash & burn has captivated the minds of news watchers tonight.

Upon a high-flying suggestions from more than a few from our reader community . . .

SHOULD KANSAS CITY FEEL SAFE WITH SEVERAL 737 MAX 8 FLYING THROUGH COWTOWN SKIES?!?!?

Corporate media is attempting to calm panic and provides just a bit of usable data. . .

According to data from the Kansas City Aviation Department, the 737 Max 8 is scheduled to handle 1.7 percent of KCI's departures this month.

Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) is the only carrier operating the aircraft in Kansas City. In March, the airport's biggest airline is scheduled to use the 737 Max 8 for 82 of its 2,207 departures.

And so we ask . . .

DO YOU LIKE THOSE ODDS OR SHOULD KANSAS CITY JOIN SO MANY OTHERS ASKING FOR THE CONTROVERSIAL PLANES TO BE GROUNDED???

  1. The odds are good. It's some of those pilots who aren't.

    1. I don't really think that KCI has much of a say which planes the airlines use. But we might as well throw it in the user agreement. Most of it is fiction anyway.

    2. It's the software that's junk. Thank your "outsourcing" for that. Maybe that "learn to code" meme isn't so wrong after all. Think about it.

  2. Think about this. We have three terminals at KCI so we can keep essential air traffic moving in the event of a disaster. The system we're moving to now is NOTHING but a complete grounding of KC waiting to happen. This is only good news for the Johnson County airport.

    1. ^^^ God forbid a plane crashes in KC. There have been a few cargo planes that have had a problem but thankfully nothing catastrophic. But I'm sure if that happens at any airport no matter how many terminals, there would be a lot of distress.

  3. Ground the planes, figure out what's wrong, fix it and move on. It's really simple when you think about it. Too bad nobody is doing that.

  4. Stop the short term loan. THAT is a bigger disaster in the making.

  5. Oh no!!! A plane might crash!!! What should we do??? Should we ban them??? Should we even worry since air travel IS THE SAFEST FUCKING FORM OF TRANSPORTATION AROUND?

Jesus Tony every day you post something totally inane and I think "well nothing could be dumber than this" and yet every day you top yourself in stupidity.

    How do you do it?

  6. Good mention on the KC traffic. I was wondering how many of these came through KCI and the answer isn't widely available. As for the odds, that's not practical when you're talking about human life. The airlines should be focused on safety and grounding the planes seems like the best option until we figure out what's going on. Look at that Dreamliner link. The same thing basically happened in that situation and it didn't really hurt Boeing in the long term. Time for a repeat just to make sure the problem is identified and fixed.

  8. The headline is "SHOULD KANSAS CITY ALLOW BOEING 737 MAX 8 AT MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR NEW AIRPORT?!?!" yet you write about whether the aircraft should be airworthy now.

I'm very confident that the FAA, NTSB, other agencies, and Boeing will have investigated, identified and addressed the issue by early 2023 when the new terminal (not airport) is currently scheduled to be completed.

  9. The new airport is garbage. Those loans are unsecured. Please stay on message TKC!

  10. I’m sorry but if planes are not gender fluid then I don’t want anything to do with those hate boxes! Flying is a social construct by the patriarchy and is a mechanism for CIS gendered white males! Omg Russia!

  11. If you fly out of KCI instead of Wheeler for travel you are boring!

  12. By the time the new KCI terminals are built, Boeing will be making Boeing 20089 model airplanes.
And the airport project will have passed the $4.2 billion mark.
Let's get Sly and the council in on making decisions about the airworthiness of airplanes!
Why limit their lack of expertise to the responsibilities they already regularly blow?
