TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KANSAS CITY HATES BIKE LANES ON ARMOUR BLVD!!!

This report confirms that the litany of push back from this neighborhood has been constant thanks to one of the silliest implementations of amateur urban planner trends KCMO has ever seen . . .

Fox4: Neighbors’ concerns prompt parking changes near Armour Boulevard bike lanes

Deets:

To improve sight distances, Maggie Green with Kansas City's Public Works Department said the department will move back "no parking" signs an additional 15 feet at several locations along Armour. Those spots will be based on data from 311 calls.

You can expect to see those no parking signs when the weather gets better.

So, maybe sometimes around June when the 100-degree weather kicks in . . .

  3. I don't mind bike lanes but put them on side streets so other traffic can move along normally. Instead of Armour Blvd, why not put the bike land on 36th..it moves along the same route as Armour and is not heavily travelled by cars. Armour Blvd is a disaster and dangerous!!!

  4. @ 11:30- Dear God please don't ruin 36th street with bike Lanes! It is nice and wide and since these silly armour lanes is how I ride east-west in that part of midtown.

Our modern fad chasing city planning nitwits see a nice wide road provided by city fathers of yesterday (grand, armour, 12th Street etc) and their urge is to narrow the road with tall curbs and make bikes merge into traffic even if there's not a car parked on the right hand side. They put down some green paint and they pay themselves on the back as if they have actually done something. Their plans call for narrowing"Broadway" - contemplate how stupid that is for a second, to make Broadway less broad. They call it road diet or complete streets or traffic calming.

I am afraid 18th Street will soon be narrowed and have bike Lanes like armour bc there is a new black top going in now and that is what happen to armour-about this time last year I was thrilled to see a smooth new blacktop but was horrified a few weeks later to see these silly bike Lanes which vex motorists even if no bike presently using it, make it harder to cross armour bc now traffic has a steady single-file when a lane lost, not to mention visibility issues etc. Rant over. Thanks,
    Radish

  6. Bike riders got along with the flow of traffic for a hundred years. What all of the sudden happened, bicyclists get stupid ?
