TKC MUST READ!!! EPIC SPORTS SCRIBE TESTIMONY: NO TAX CASH FOR NEW KANSAS CITY ROYALS STADIUM!!!

There are very few REAL heroes when it comes to Kansas City professional sports. Here's one with a bold declaration that will ensure he'll never get a press pass. Checkit:

Downtown or not, Kansas City taxpayers shouldn't pay a cent for a new stadium

Every once in a while, somebody in the Kansas City Royals discussion sphere brings up the possibility of a downtown stadium. There hasn't been a downtown stadium in Kansas City since Municipal Stadium shuttered its doors on 2123 Brooklyn Avenue as a result of Kauffman Stadium's opening in 1973.

  1. Just like the we’re not paying a dime for the airport scam. People are stupid and will get suckered into voting yes for this the same way the airport got voted in. It won’t cost you a dime, the owners will pay for it, fool me once.........

  2. That guy should be on the Star Editorial Board, rather than JoCo Helling and those other hacks!!!

  3. The current stadiums location is a good place for them to be. Our city leaders back in the 70's had the brains then to know a downtown stadium just wasn't a good working location for one. Putting a downtown stadium in now is an even dumber idea.

  4. Unbelievable! On the other hand, one has to admire the huge balls these developers have to suggest yet again another onslaught on citizens.

  5. 10:28am makes a good point.
But you have to remember that when the ONLY thing between the developers and that pile of cash in the city treasury is the spineless and clueless hacks at city hall, why not give it a try.
Especially when most of the electeds rely on those campaign contributions to keep them from having to try to get actual jobs in the private sector.
The track record says pretty much any "developer" with so much as a pulse has a really good shot.

  6. Heard Jolie on the KMBZ mid-day show yesterday with the two hosts making fun of people who don't believe the demo/reno won't cost taxpayers a dime. Not sure how long they've lived here but we aren't stupid. We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two from KCMO.

I wish this city had sat down with a competent mental health professional years ago to rid us of this inferiority complex. Comparison is the thief of joy. We don't need to be Seattle, San Fran, etc. That we're ok and we are and taught the city leaders to take care of business (infrastructure, clean up, fix up what we've got, crime, etc.) Stop chasing shiny objects. We don't need to be kitschy, retro trendy skirt chasers.

They all just want their name on shit.

  7. Why put a stadium downtown? Downtown is full of homosexuals and they don’t understand baseball.

  8. Where the hell would they put the stadium to begin with? Another stupid idea by even more stupid people

  9. Just the cost of buying out businesses alone would be astronomical, the only cheap route would be putting it back in the hood and that’s a terrible idea.

  10. Use the Harlem area north of the river.
