TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY PET PROJECT FUNDRAISING PROMISES BETRAYED FOR NEW ANIMAL SHELTER!!!

On April 4, 2017, Kansas City voters approved an $800 million infrastructure repair plan comprised of General Obligation (GO) Bonds. The pledge from voters included Question #3 which hoped a public/private partnership would provide funds to build a new animal shelter.

The groundbreaking was slated for Summer of 2018 but has been delayed, in part, because Kansas City animal lovers and the KC Pet Project haven't lived up to their part of the bargain.

To wit . . .

PRIVATE FUNDRAISING FOR THE NEW KANSAS CITY ANIMAL SHELTER STANDS AT A PATHETIC 2% AFTER TWO YEARS!!!

The website was just updated today after these local doggie lovers spotted TKC and some of the best & brightest tipsters snooping around. This morning the total was only 1% . . . Here's the latest fundraising update . . .

Actually, this is a low ball fundraising glimpse . . . Here's what local animal lovers promised:

"In addition to the City’s $18M in GO funds contribution, the private sector will raise an additional $8M in construction costs, for a total construction cost of $26M for the 55,000-60,000 square foot campus facility."

Another fact check . . . In camapign materials and news coverage . . . KC voters initially were told they'd only have to pay $14-million.

To wit . . .

TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! THE KANSAS CITY PET PROJECT HAS FAILED TO LIVE UP TO FUNDRAISING PROMISES SO FAR!!! DOGGIE LOVERS ARE CONTENT TO LET TAXPAYERS PAY FOR THEIR NEW SHELTER!!!

About a year ago, our blog community broke this story and started public questions and MSM updated with promises that they were "confident" in their ability to garner funds. NOW . . . The activists who touted this election effort have failed to raise the cash they promised and look to City Hall and taxpayer funds to make up the difference.

They're a year behind already. That sucks but hopefully the news will encourage more people to donate. Kansas City really does need that shelter.

  2. The council will end up scamming this money for something else.

  3. This website still exists? With 2 trolls per post you'd think he'd give up.

  4. ^^^ I guess we all have dreams. KC pet project is dreaming it'll be able to come up with 8 million bucks.

  5. The powers that be don't want to see no dog parks or animal shelters. No kick backs in that type of building.

  6. Pet project is really just a scam organization. Typical Kansas City deadbeats, they made big promises and now can't deliver. It's a shame that the city can't do more to get the money they were promised.

  7. We need that animal shelter, I hope KC steps up and does the right thing!

  8. Behind schedule and not as promised just like the airport.

  9. Typcial KC grifters. Do they know the revs? They would make a great pair.

  10. KC cannot afford to make the up the difference, it would be nice to have a new animal shelter but if the KC Pet project has not lived up to their part of the bargain, KC should opt out of this shelter. City Hall is not an animal charity.

  11. 5:51 the airport is 8yrs behind!

  12. I’d rather see the city have a nice animal shelter, improved streets and sidewalks and updated infrastructure than the new airport. Giving the current KCI some freshening up would be fine, but a completely new facility is just a folly.

  13. This operation gets more free television publicity than a whore in church and they still can't raise any money?
Looks like all the people who make believe they care so much really don't.
Champagne dreams and a bottled water budget.
And the approach for getting the came;'s nose under the public funding tent is always the same.
We've come this far and we can't turn back.
Just a FEW million more tax dollars and we'll never come back for more, we promise.
    Want to see it again?

  14. Yes, this Animal Shelter would be a complete waste of Taxpayer's money that should be put to a better use like building something for our "Betters" in Johnson County to use and enjoy, or perhaps putting up some more Parking Garages so the Kansas Real Estate Developers can sell more Downtown Condos.

You know, "Important Things", the sort of things that generate kickbacks and "little white envelopes" on City Hall desks.

    1. I want the animal shelter. Kc needs one, but you are forgetting that the whole thing was a no bid contract from the start.

We need to get it done and right now the pet project isn't pulling their weight.

  16. The KC Pet Project folks, especially Roshann Parris and Kristy Wyatt, have been scamming the City for years. Roshann wanted the shelter on the land where the Disc Golf Course was and no other land in Swope Park would do, so the golf course was moved at great expense so Roshann could have the prime real estate she demanded. Then Mrs. Parris and Mrs. Wyatt refused to follow the rules for putting contracts out to bid because they wanted "their architect" (HNTB with no experience in designing an animal shelter) and "their contractor" (who is Grand Construction, owned by Cliff Illig of Cerner wealth, who could write a check and pay for the whole shelter if he wanted to be generous). The shelter was supposed to cost the City $14 million, and the citizens were told that figure. Now the City has borrowed $18 million for the shelter and the KC Pet Project has raised virtually nothing. They continue to be all talk and no money and the City will be on the hook for the rest of the money, not to mention the operating funds, which the KC Pet Project will also no doubt be unable to raise, leaving the City to hold the bag for that expense as well.
Look for this project to cost in excess of $30 million before it's all over, once fixtures, etc. are completed. And the KC Pet Project will have tossed a few thousand in the mix and said "This is all we have, sorry!" And KC taxpayers will be on the hook for the rest. Just because two busybody women from Johnson County infiltrated City Hall and got Jolie Justus and Theresa Loar to carry their water for them. Remember this when it comes time to vote for mayor, because this is exactly the kind of leadership we don't need.

  19. 5:26 you’re almost right, sLIE will give the money to his developer buddies, this was just a ploy to get people to vote for gobond, they had no intention of giving this money to pet project......... sucka’s!

  20. Doggie lovers wouldn't have to raise d!(% if "taxpayers" would take care of their own damn pets.

"content to let taxpayers pay for the animal shelter" indeed!

They wouldn't be in business if city facilities weren't more than happy to abdicate this responsibility to them.
