More cash for neighborhood cleanup approved as abandoned houses continue to proliferate. Here's a glimpse at the latest chapter in the ongoing battle to improve a problem that big banks and slumlords have let linger. Take a look:
New grant program aims to fix up eastside KCMO neighborhoods
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - More than two dozen homes on the eastside of Kansas City, Missouri, could get a makeover. Thanks to a new grant program, nearly $500,000 is up for grabs from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.

ReplyDeleteIt’s actually a decent program and it’s about time they took it to where people will appreciate it, the minor home repair program has been around since 1980 I think and for 25 years it was in the same neighborhoods in the hood and only black people could get it. That is fact. They could get something done to their house every five years, roof, electrical, plumbing, sewer and hvac. These people didn’t have to do nothing to their house the city was rebuilding it for them. Now almost forty years later they finally moved it to where poor whites could get help. ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME!
ReplyDeleteSeriously the east side does need to be completely bulldozed. Give them all bus fares to California. California will take anyone and also give them freebies. You know to places they will feel at home like Oakland, Compton, or Long Beach. Don’t have to be mean about it just wish them well and thanks for playing.

Must be nice. I've been saving up and siding my house myself one side at a time doing the work myself. My next big project is to save money to get all the windows in my house replaced. How do I get in on this free upgrades to my house? I suspect I'm the wrong color to receive to get free money to fix my house.
