Flyover Country Isn't Just An Organ Farm

An effort that could help stop big money interests from the coast and the Chinese from so much human harvesting in this part of the nation. Take a look:

Lawmakers Could Side With KU Hospital Officials To Keep Transplant Livers In Kansas

Doctors at the University of Kansas Hospital say a change in the distribution of livers across the country could result in Kansans waiting longer for life-saving transplants. So they're backing a bill in the Kansas Legislature that would allow residents who donate their organs to specify whether they want them used to benefit Kansas transplant patients.

  1. Isn't it wonderful that the State of Kansas has so few current problems that the Legislature can spend time on matters as minor as this is!

Truly Topeka is a "Shining City On A Hill"!

  2. ^^^^^ Taking human organs out of state isn't minor you sh*bird. It will actually help keep more people alive locally. Think before you type, creep.

  3. Think before you drink, and there wouldn't be such a need for organs, tweetface - but then I guess asking people to wake up, realize they're in Kansas, and start drinking as fast as possible is asking too much.

  4. ^^^^ Yeah, it's just drinking that causes organ damage. Sorry Dr. Stupid. You need to go back to school before you start practicing in Kansas. F-ing moron.

  9. Apologies @11:57 - I forgot that a parent's boozing can affect his genes and cause problems in his offspring - sorry about that.

  10. 12:14---Thanks He was diagnosed in 2000 but had he not skidded on some wet leaves riding his bike and fallen off and scraped his stomach we'd have never found it. but he became part of a clinical study involving 12 different hospitals including, K.U. Med St. Jude, Mayo Clinic, Sloan-Kettering, M.D. Anderson, Duke Univ., and others and CMH became recognized nationally and the chemo protocol they developed here at CMH is now the most accepted for treatment for that type of cancer and his surgery done here by Dr. Walter Andrews was the first time anywhere that that muck of a child's liver was taken out without a a partial transplant or resection. He was on the transplant list but the cancerous tumors that had begun to shrink with the chemo after 4 months became more aggressive and the decision was made to wait no longer. Andrews left 1/10th of 1% of healthy tissue for the liver to regenerate and it worked. He was the guinea pig. He's 28 now, never missed an honor roll at any level, Eagle Scout, college grad and successful in his career. We are quite proud of him.

When he was diagnosed the survival rate odds were about 20% of making it past 5 years without returning now it's 90 and it all started with him, a great staff top to bottom at CMH, a great support group. etc. etc. etc.. so that's that

  11. I have seen kidney transplant recipients go out shopping when they should be in bed resting from surgery, they also drink booze, smoke pot. Then when the kidney fails they expect another one "pronto". And if they cant get it and they eventually die - its "our" fault!
