TKC EXCLUSIVE FACT CHECK!!! HOMICIDE ON THE PASEO OVERNIGHT!!! UPCOMING MLK NAME CHANGE FAILS TO STOP KANSAS CITY URBAN CORE VIOLENCE!!!

Neither Black History month nor a controversial blvd name change to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. has helped to quell deadly inner-city violence.

And so . . .

OVERNIGHT THE PASEO ENDURED ANOTHER KANSAS CITY MURDER DESPITE COLD, ICY WEATHER!!!

To be fair, an optimist might claim that maybe once the name is finally switched over, there will be fewer murders . . . Sadly, there's no evidence for that in much the same way that there isn't any evidence for an economic stimulus attached to the rebranding as some of the Revs claim.

We're calling this one "EXCLUSIVE" (for giggles and) because only The Northeast News has bothered to fact check any of the hype around this controversial decision that didn't earn a vote as was initially promised by supporters of the name change.

Here's the report . . .

KMBC: Police Investigate Overnight Deadly Shooting Near 67th And Paseo

Deets:

The shooting occurred just before 11 PM near 67th and Paseo.

Police found a man shot in the grass. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died. Police say there is no suspect description or motive at this time.

If you know anything, call the Crimestoppers Tips Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.

This is the 15th KCMO homicide so far this year compared to 11 at this time last year.

  1. A solution for both sides.

Whenever there is a murder or bad news we can call it The Paseo but for everything nice like a parade or improvements we can call it MLK. Then everybody is happy.

    1. The last murder was in December or early January. Exceptionally brutal, a woman was shot in cold blood and walked a few miles for help finding none. She died on the street and was discovered several hours later.

    2. Sad thing is, it's all part of the same plan. The new street name and the murders will discourage investment and keep away investors. This is what the leaders who pushed the proposal wanted. It's a poison pill against their own community. They don't want things to change, they're happy with the crime and the violence because that's where their budgets are derived. One of the most evil plans I've seen in quite some time hatched by so called men of God.

  2. Call it Trump Blvd. But then be careful of all the grabbing that would allow.

  3. And the $360,000.00 every year to the King family for use of the MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR name benefits KC how? Hmm, what could a police force do with that money? - Hire 5 more police officers!

  4. That photo of city council members celebrating pretty much says it all.
WHO would publicly celebrate being intimidated, threatened, and rolled for hundreds of thousands of dollars by a bunch of grifters?
But it's not their money, so they really don't care.
Of course, they don't much care about all the murders either.
    Really sad.

  19. Did the Council members who wanted this name change think about renaming the Plaza the "MLK Plaza"?
Or rename the City itself "MLK City" ?

    Rename Paseo to MLK
Try to rename KCI to MLK

The pathetic thing is MLK said he hoped his kids would not be judged by the color of their skin but the content of their character. The exact opposite is the standard for KCMO. Vote for the black democrat just because he or she is black and not on anything else. This is anti dr king. This is what gets you stupid ass ideas to rename a murder alley MLK. An attempt to rename a jacked up airport situation MLK. You see the trend? It’s called progressive.

I would like to add that I personally predicted this a week or two ago. The photo opportunity for the people behind this. That’s what this was mostly all about. Some doofus from city hall holding up/touching the dr king street sign in some kind of victory smile. Like they just fought the battle of fallujah. Ok...you are holding a MLK street sign. W...T...F....now is going to happen besides spending taxpayer money to the king family while black people bleed out from gunshot wounds on the renamed street? Huh? There are no answers. It’s just “we did it” and now what?

Cmon man this is so pathetic. I hope someone involved in this reads this blog and realizes how they wasted their time. Then again these people probably want MLK statues all over the city in a manner that kim Jong il statues are all over Pyongyang.

  26. I wish there was an easier way of getting hood rats off the street, but letting them kill each other is the most effective way. Jean Petersucker Baker has neither the skill or willingness to put the shithole ghetto hood rats in prison.

    1. Are you fucking kidding me 9:28? Of course there's a way. and that was 70 years ago! Think if we applied modern methods to such a project. It'd be quick, efficient, and would solve many problems. Our crime problem would disappear. The massive drain on society would be gone forever. Entire neighborhoods of substandard housing could be demolished and repurposed.

      It'd be a paradise.

  28. Shortly after the vote to rename the Paseo a celebration of the council members Reed, Lucas, James and Shields took place. One of the activist Ministers stepped in front of the camera and loudly proclaimed "they almost won", meaning that the City almost decided that this was a stupid idea. Long term, this renaming of the street will have a negative effect on the east side of the City as a MLK street will not invite investment in fact the opposite will take place.
    Tragic.

  29. Well, they congratulated themselves, they celebrated, they had commemorated the name of a great leader and they cheered and took pictures.

And people kept dying. Instead of turning all this hysterical energy into something useful to help the community, these fat fake reverends gobbled up the glory. Instead of turning real sweat and dollars to doing something about black on black genocide, they had drinks and hugged and everybody had a real good day that day.

We might as well strike the word 'shame' from the dictionary.

  31. It has been pointed out only a few times that the method of this name change is a clear cut violation of the City charter. With the exception of a few seconds of mention on Ruckus, and a commentor here, has any action been taken on this? Hell, for that matter, what agency would be involved with smacking down a City for directly violating their Charter? State level, Fed level?

    ReplyDelete
  32. The Council has confirmed that its only constituents are radical racist reverends. The actual public, including those who live along he Paseo but were never consulted, don't get representation, they will just do as they're told.

It certainly simplifies matters for the council. Instead of having to pretend to listen to varying individual viewpoints (tedious and time consuming), they can just pay attention to developers on the one hand and radical reverends on the other, and tell everybody else to go fish.
