NEW KCI WINNING!!! COUNCIL APPROVES SKETCHY BIG AIRLINE CORPORATE WELFARE DEAL WORTH BILLIONS!!!

Just as we predicted, an inevitability approved by Council after orders from big biz leaders.

Moreover . . .

YES, KANSAS CITY WILL PAY FOR THIS NEW AIRPORT!!! TAXPAYERS HAVE ALREADY KICKED IN $20-MILLION AND COUNTING!!!

The loans/bonds all use KCMO credit and the "standard" deal is that airlines will only commit to 9 years max. Real talk: This is a deal on Kansas City taxpayer credit cars with only a flimsy and limited IOU offered.

Here's how the other side sees it:

"The Kansas City Council approved a package of documents Thursday afternoon that are crucial to the start of the $1.5 billion Kansas City International Airport single-terminal modernization project.

"The approval is the final step for a series of documents that have been stalled in the council’s Airport Committee throughout the winter and moves the project one step closer to starting construction. A round of applause broke out in the packed City Council chambers when the motion was approved after a lengthy business session detailing updates to the documents. The vote was considered a substantial step forward on a project that has had several stops and starts while seeking approvals from a frequently divided City Council."

However . . .

SMALLER AIRLINES ARE THE FUTURE FOR AVIATION: LOCAL MSM FAIL TO REPORT THAT MOST AIRLINES DIDN'T SIGN THE DEAL THAT OFFERS BIG CARRIERS A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE!!!

Credit where it's dude . . .

Council lady & Mayoral Candidate Alissa Canady was the only NO VOTE.

She was eloquent and informed in her criticism:

"I've done everything I could to make sure it was a process I could be supportive . . . Moving ahead without figuring out the short-term costs is putting the cart ahead of the horse . . ." "I'm not willing to rubber stamp this agreement ask questions later, so I will be voting no."

"This project is no longer transformative. It's no different than any other project the city has done."

"I'm not willing to rubber stamp this agreement ask questions later, so I will be voting no."

And so . . .

THE FEEDING FRENZY IS UNDERWAY AND SHORT-TERM LOAN QUESTIONS FOR MILLIONS DIRECTLY PAID BY KCMO HAVE BEEN MOSTLY SILENCED!!!

Also, this is what it looks like when Kansas City signs a blank check:

There's more to unpack and the March groundbreaking isn't assured just like the promised groundbreaking in January was betrayed.

But for now, there's no denying that big biz earned an impressive win.

Glad to see there is at least one member of council paying attention.

One thing you forgot to mention TKC.

Because they cancelled the aviation committee meeting. There was no public testimony allowed.

7 billion if it's a dime.

This is a great day for Kansas City and for our airport. Just like the mayor said, he doesn't care how you vote just vote yes BECAUSE that's what the KC public agreed to and wants from our leadership.

We will be moving ahead in March. We will be breaking new ground. KC is has momentum and on the way to be BEST!

This is a sad day for Kansas City the scam artist have win. The start of fleecing of Kansas City once again no accountability. From half-wit council or only one saw through the scam. And a mayor who only cares about his future political future and not about the citizens of Kansas City and who betrayed the black community. A true Uncle Tom.

And we want to thank the taxpayers for their support, in keeping the momentum strong, and so the first impression people have when they come here is.. Oh Wow, Man, I mean, can you believe it, look at this, oh my god.. they even got a starbucks, what, look at the fountain thingy

5:43 you naive little person, I am embarrassed for you and all the crazy KC cheerleaders that make such silly small minded decisions and comments. I live and work in the real world and see the world for what is. A no bid deal, hatched in a private club, shoved to a RFP process only to have the worst financial option selected that needs additional monies to proceed and then eliminates the small carrier competition is just stupid. This is not momentum. It’s nothing more than reinforcement of our cowtown reputation.

Mark this day on your calendar. You thought the fucking we got over P&L, Jazz and the Hotel was painful.
These thieves should be held responsible when it goes off the rails. Oh yeah, add the streetcar

Agree Go4KC is a piece of work no doubt.

Taxpayers had better buckle in tight as we are going to get raw very damn fast from the major screwing the city minions just handed out.

Anonymous said...

Holy shit!! The biggest story here is Teresa Loar stopped drinking and got on the right side of the issue. #AlcoholicsAnonymous

We gave them 40 million last year and now another 90 million this year, unfreakinbelieveable

Go’s to show you the citizens don’t matter.

Alissa Canady is the only good council person we have. She's the only one who seems to be on the residents side and we hardly ever hear anything about her

Anonymous said...

@638 she’s clearly the smartest and bravest politician KC has seen in a long time! A Star is born!

Lets see who is alive after the primary for Mayor. Any bets those who voted yes are out of the game?

Yes. That MOMENTUM is MOMENTOUS!

Now let's fix some fucking potholes, gopher.

Sad day in Kansas City for sure. The taxpayers okay a billion and now the cost is 1.5 billion. Any bets it's 2 billion before it's all said and done? Anyone have a grasp on how many tickets have to be sold to pay off a 2 billion dollar airport?

Anonymous said...

How does 3 million sound? I used 500 dollars as an example, I rarely fly so I have no idea what a ticket cost.

Anonymous said...

Also only used 1.5 billion

Phil Klein said...

I will say this airport fiasco is it not going to cost four billion dollars just look what happened in Denver this thing may go to 10 to 20 billion the time it's finished in the airline mechanics may go on strike and if that happens the airline's won't be able to pay of the cost the taxpayers on the hook so taxpayers have to pay out general fund look for bankruptcy

Anonymous said...

the airport modernization may get in the 1.5 billion ballpark if massage the momentum to build a 'transit hotel' over the parking facility at terminal C after, after adding a single TSA checkpoint serving terminals A & B.

Anonymous said...

I guess it would be easier to figure out if we actually knew how many tickets were bought just for flying out of kci, incoming flights and switching planes don’t count as a ticket sale would they? If I bought a round trip ticket from let say New York, would that count towards paying off the airport?

Naturally there are no figures for this at kci, they just list how many people have come and gone per year.

Anonymous said...

I'm just glad I won't be flying much when this cluster fuck is done. The new kids get to pay the bill. $100 uber each way and a 350.00 ticket to Dallas one way will be a momentemous change. FUCK YOU GO4KC.

Anonymous said...

One thing they also have failed to mention is when all these price increase kick in, does it kick in when they open the new airport or can they start screwing people over now?

Anonymous said...

Your breath has to be lethal with all the asshole you lick.

Anonymous said...

^^^ weird

Anonymous said...

Credit to Canady for standing up for the right thing, even when she knew none of her colleagues would be joining her. That takes some guts.

Anonymous said...

Save that picture. It will be a wanted poster.

Anonymous said...

If they made the voters pass a captcha test we wouldn't be in this mess

Anonymous said...

^^^ now that’s funny right there!

Anonymous said...

All the renderings, stop showing all those renderings unless you put a multichromatic colored haze all over them.

Anonymous said...

Canady is the only person who showed any guts today. A vote for Quinton is just another vote for all of this nonsense.

Jameson said...

Phill has it correct. This thing is 7 billion if it's a dime.

Anonymous said...

7:38 only a portion of the ticket will go to the airport so if it’s $125 then it will take 12 million tickets to pay off 1.5 billion and that’s not counting interest so it could be double that. I can’t even imagine how long it will actually take Kansas City fliers to pay this debt off.

It takes 50 million a year for thirty years to pay off 1.5 billion, if that’s interest free that is.

The ineffective, irrelevant and wrong side of the issue Teresa Loar couldn’t find a single person to help her “renovate the terminals to the bones.” The old broad has embarrassed herself to no end. Now she can go back and focus on her new number one issue. Not drinking red wine mind you, but the welfare of dogs and cats. Because that’s the most important issue in all of KC. What a mess she is.

Anonymous said...

The modernized KCI has two terminals and a new single TSA checkpoint.

The terminals of the modernized KCI are concrete.

The SingLe TsA Checkpoint will be located in a building with metal framing, close to some restaurants.

We did the right thing WHEELS UP KANSAS CITY!

Anonymous said...

Terrsa Loar did not do so well yesterday, she skipped the council session to attend her AA meeting. At least there she could find 6 other people who agreed to side with her. Oh, they didn’t agree with her about “renovating the terminals to the bones,” However, they all did agree she drinks too much.

Actually Canady made an easy vote that didn't take any courage at all.
It's called vote counting.
When it's clear that an issue will have the overwhelming votes to either pass or fail, it's easy to vote the other way to call attention to yourself as a "courageous" politico.
And if you're running for mayor and your best known for having expired tags on your car and putting on a "do you know who I am" show with the cops, changing the narrative is rather important.
She has no chance of becoming mayor, but this is worth a try.
The political Hail Mary pass!

Anonymous Sylvester Costello Luciano Gambino Capone Jr. said...

Well now we need to figure out how to finance getting this thing started.

Won't cost taxpayers a dime

Our message to Teresa Loar for the weekend?

Jolie, lighten up on Teresa, she just isn't into you!
More a "tab A, slot B" kinda gal.
Sorry babe, but look on the bright side, there's supposed to be a new "Diesel Dyke" bar opening in the Crossroads next month.
