Blame Game: Family Claims Central 'Academy Of Excellence' Needed Better Security After Teen Girl Gunned Down

Reality check, there were security guards on the scene but not every gathering can be heavily guarded. Realize this same debate exists in the suburbs where the rising threat of school shooters has caused residents to realize how vulnerable students are when it comes to the threat of gun violence.

  3. Academy of Excellence. Where do they come up with these names??? It’s like their churches, The Church of God’s Holy Word and Love Everlasting Evangelical Lighthouse Temple for Salvation.

  4. The school shouldn't have to have security at all.

  5. Is this the same "family" where the "mother" said she hadn't seen her 15 year old daughter in a month?

These kids need "parents", not "close ancestors"!

  7. As predictable as the sun coming up in the east.
People's self-destructive behavior and anti-social attitudes are ALWAYS someone else's fault.
    Maybe it was slavery.
Or a Confederate statue somewhere in town that Kraske hasn't found yet.
Or Emitt Till's murder from 1955.
Bad behavior excused over and over again just gets worse and worse.
And the violence spreads as neighborhoods are emptied and buildings become abandoned.
All the "programs" and money in the world won't change a thing as long as a minority of a minority population is allowed and excused to behave the way they do.
Where's the "leadership" in the "community" to look out for the regular folks who are just trying to earn a living and raise their families and the retired people who still live in the house where they raised their kids and have to stay inside for their own safety.
Not one of the local "leaders" even has the guts to actually address the problem.
A metastacizing cancer for KCMO and the entire metro.

  8. When I was a child we didn't have locked down schools or the need for security. In rural areas many kids drove to school with rifles hanging in the back window of a pick-up truck and it scared nobody nor was anyone shot with them. Drive down the main street of many rural towns late as the 80's and you saw vehicle after vehicle with a gun rack in them and the windows rolled down with the doors unlocked.

What happened here? You all know damn well what happened and lack the balls to do something about it. No instead we cry and blame everyone else but those who need to be blamed for what has happened to our schools, our cities, our way of life. Ignoring the cause of kids acting as they do today isn’t going to solve the issue.

    1. Dave,
As someone who grew up in the southern part of the state, I can say what you describe is 100% correct.

  11. Every suburban school has a real police officer on duty during basketball games. If trouble happens 30 cops can be there in an instant. This is where KCPS failed. Their poorly trained security guards set this girl up to get killed.

All the thousands and thousands of words on this blog daily, about this violence.

Overwhelmingly, the most succinct word to describe the cause is "Negro".

Look around the world. Find one, just one, black run country where you would wish to live??????????? It's genetic!!!!!!!!

  14. @ 7:34 - Demorats need a village to raise a child. No one should be expected in the urban environment to take responsibility for the uncontrolled single mommy birth rate and force the mommy and baby daddy to take responsibility for their actions (sex). Spread the responsibility to the grandma and great-grandma to raise the baby. Then when they get in trouble (sex) or killed they have a candle vigil lead by a fat reverend and we all say in unison "this was such a good child and was going to go to college and be a doctor" (yeah, right).

  15. Bet both those killer girls are nearly illiterate. It starts with discipline, if you do not concentrate as a child you will fail as an adult.
