The pricey, smaller and very controversial new Kansas City airport hinges on the approval of a vast byzantine arrangement of government agencies that aren't making any progress during the current shut down.
Just one example out of many . . . The city is waiting on an environmental report from the Federal Aviation Administration and now most of the employees from that agency are on furlough.
To wit . . .
THE KANSAS CITY DEVELOPMENT AGENDA STRUGGLES ARE GETTING MORE SERIOUS THANKS TO THE SHUT DOWN!!!
This might be both a blessing and a curse but it's a fact that the shut down impacts biz beyond government workers and now threatens a great many local construction, labor and marking jobs connected to what will be the biggest project (and boondoggle) Kansas City has ever witnessed.
To wit, here's a look at shut down news from today's cycle . . .
WAPo: The shutdown also means the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board have had to prioritize . . .
AV Today: FAA Shutdown Already Delaying DataComm Transition to En Route Airspace

And all this inspires our playlist tonight dedicated to the new airport . . . Or lack thereof . .
As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night . . .
I thought we were going to have so much winning? That doesn't look like it.
ReplyDeleteAnother instance of President Trump helping out Kansas City. THANK YOU Sir!
DeleteThat story from politico I absolutely hope is not correct. When we get into an us vs. them mentality nobody wins and our politics become even more pointless. This should be about the best solution for the country. There has to be some compromise that should be on the table and I don't fault the president for trying to get the best deal possible, what I don't think is that we need to do this every year. The one job that elected officials have is to pass a budget on time. It's a shame they can't even do that.
DeleteTrump doesn't know what he's doing. He doesn't even know what he wants.
ReplyDeleteHe hasn't spent $1.6 billion on border security from last year's budget. He can't explain what type of wall, how big, solid or slat, where, how much, or how he'll use imminent domain over property owners.
He promised Mexico would pay for it. Go talk to Mexico. If he wanted the US Congress to pay, he should have had the GOP do it. He had 2 full years. Now he says he can avoid Congress, declare an emergency, and have the military build it.
Fine, just do it reopen government to get the workers paid. Border Patrol, ICE and TSA are not employees at your golf resort or casino. You can't just close up, file bankruptcy, and not pay them.
8:18 we are having so much winning. It's kansas city that is losing. Ha Ha Ha. Where's your head?
ReplyDelete9:02 shut up child, this is big boy talk, the children’s table is over at npr
ReplyDeleteFederal employees got paid on the 31st, they get paid twice a month so their next paycheck is on the 15th so......
ReplyDeleteThe only good coming out of this is the murderous koloreds don’t get their free gubmint money! Now that’s a win right there!
Mexico is probably more willing to help pay for the wall now because all those illegals are stuck in Mexico and now they’re paying for their food, medical and place to stay, once they realize the wall will prevent future illegals from coming through Mexico they won’t have to get stuck paying for them. It’s all in the plan!
ReplyDeleteAmericans can't even agree on what the problems are, so of course there will be no solutions to anything.
ReplyDeleteCommon Cause ceases to exist.
^^^^^ Excellent point!
ReplyDeleteIt think that's one of the big problems facing this country and good on you for pointing it out.
Millions without food stamps? Millions of Democrats might actually have to get jobs.
ReplyDeletethe key here is to just start calling it 'remodeled airport', stop showing that rendering, and proceed. Terminal A is now open for program proposals, from smaller airlines, Amazon Cargo, DB Schenker etc with a tower parking garage and hotel extended on the floors above the existing parking structure.
ReplyDeleteThere has been a change order on the 20milion baggage system, that all you need to know.
