Perspective on tragic but predictable disrespect given that THIS MEMORIAL WAS BUILT NEXT TO ONE OF DOWNTOWN'S MOST PROLIFIC AND DIVERSE IV DRUG INJECTION SITES.
Here's the damage and a statement on graffiti that's not really politically motivated.

Missouri NAACP releases statement after local memorial is defaced
KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) - A memorial in West Terrace Park that was put there in memory of Levi Harrington, who was lynched, was vandalized on Thursday. "This is a sacred space," said Rod Chapel, President of the Missouri NAACP. "We do not take its defacement lightly.
Black guy gets lynched by whites, NAACP has to make it a shrine.
ReplyDeleteBlack guy gets murdered by fellow blacks, in far and away more numbers, NAACP stands mute.
I don't know who the NAACP is trying to advance but it's not colored people. Well, maybe those in the NAACP leadership...
Ok so if a confederate statue is ripped off its base its celebrated as a victory over racism but some lynching plaque gets spray painted its a sad day,it was probably a minority that did the vandalism.
ReplyDelete^^^ +1000
ReplyDeleteThe naacp is trying to stir the pot as usual, it’ll be fun to see their reaction or not when they find out it wasn’t whitey. Notice how the writing is on the edges and not over any writing, looks like a standard set trap if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteLooks like crayon to me!
ReplyDeleteLets have a vigil with balloons and lighted candles.
ReplyDeleteIt is not vandalizism, it is street art. A resonable accomodation must be made for the artist to express itself. Who knows, the artist might be a pre-op transgendered questioning their gender identity.
ReplyDeleteThat spray paint job is your typical colored school spelling.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder I can’t read it, it’s written in Ebonics!
ReplyDeleteOh good grief this looks like Latino calligraphy. The Missouri NAACP is subtly hinting that this was defaced because the guy was black. 99% sure it was a latino or black male who couldn’t even read the plaque. Because that’s how stupid people who randomly graffiti things are. It’s not art just so some of you on this blog understand that.
ReplyDeleteThats how we feel about our historical southern monuments.
ReplyDeleteLynch the taggers
ReplyDeletei couldnt care less about taggers i couldnt care less about one afro american that was lynched over a century ago, "this is sacred ground"
ReplyDeleteshit, all of killa city must be sacred becuz it has more L haplogroup blood spilled on it.
I think I recognize those tags. Same guy has tagged below 12th street bridge, along Beardsley rd, beneath Lewis n Clark viaduct, and probably many more semi abandoned and derelict areas of post-industrial Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteDuh
ReplyDeleteIf Toddler-In-Chief Cadet Bonespurs and his racist neo-nazi followers had their way all non-white non-Christians had would be lynched.
ReplyDelete^^^ what’s wrong with that?
ReplyDeleteGod you’re an idiot.
Yeah, sure, Total-Ass-Racist B'lie'Ron Funkyhoosier @3:08, wants only ALL black juries to render verdicts in every whitey plaintiffs' lawsuits.
ReplyDeleteIts good to remember History
ReplyDeleteLike how the democrat party blocked every anti lynching law in congress, but lets put up a plaque and vote democrat
Don’t forget the darkey that tagged his own church, then cried racism. Or the darkey at K State that vandalized his own car and blamed racists. This seems similar.
ReplyDeleteF__k em leave it as is.
ReplyDeleteI am so sick of everything black and all the associated drama. I can’t believe this city is considering electing another black as Mayor? I think not!
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm sick of negroes too maybe they should all be exterminated.

ReplyDeleteNobel Prize-winning DNA scientist James Watson has been stripped of several honorary titles by the laboratory he once headed over his views about intelligence and race.
The Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory said it was acting in response to remarks he made in a television documentary which aired earlier this month.
The 90-year-old geneticist - one of three who discovered the DNA double helix - had lost his job at the New York laboratory in 2007 for expressing racist views.
But in the new PBS film, American Masters: Decoding Watson, he said his views on intelligence and race had not changed since.
He had told a magazine in 2007 he was "inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa" as "all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours - where all the testing says not really".
