Room 39 to Close Mission Farms Location in February

Chef-owner Ted Habiger has announced he will close Room 39 at Mission Farms in southern Johnson County on Sun., Feb. 10 after an 11-year stint. The original Room 39 in Midtown Kansas City will remain open. Habiger, who also co-owns Brewery Emperial in the Crossroads Arts District, plans to focus his energy on these two businesses.

  1. The place sucked and people stop going to it is what the story should read.

  2. I heard that the owner and his wife recently went through a divorce - that might have been the change in priorities. Good luck on future endeavors - talented group and I don't think the closure was related to business levels.

Will be interesting to see what goes in to replace it. They had a good lunch menu (good portions/not too heavy). Will be interesting to see what restaurant takes its place.

  3. I thought it was pretty decent myself. Went there a few times when I was looking at moving into Mission Farms, but I just couldnt stand to live right next to 435. Didnt want to sit on my balcony and the view is rush hour traffic.

  5. I’m sorry to see them close; food was always good. I hope something else good goes in there because we dine at Mission Farms quite a bit but their needs to be some variety besides Rye and Tavern.
