KANSAS CITY TRANSIT ACTIVIST CLAY CHASTAIN CONTINUES COURT FIGHT AGAINST CITY HALL AMID MAYORAL RUN!!!

Preview of a court battle this week that's more important than most newsies realize.

Elected officials allegedly influencing security decisions for City Hall impacts the discussion of police local control given that it proves disputes over politics dictate public safety policy.

Here's his argument . . .

David vs. Goliath - Clay vs. KCMO - Freedom vs. Control

What good is our right to petition our government if our government can ignore our petitions, alter our petitions and retaliate against us for submitting our petitions? I ask that question because apparently the DAILY RAG (supposedly the people's watch dog) is afraid to ask that question.

THE CONTEXT:

Kansas City's current government wants to control absolutely everything because it thinks it knows absolutely everything and caters to wealthy developers who want everything. That is why citywide voters have not been allowed to vote on the following major issues:

(1) The city's streetcar ambition,
(2) An alternate plan to remodel our existing, efficient and convenient airport,
(3) the heavily taxpayer-subsidized downtown convention hotel and, of course,
(4) Clay Chastain's light rail petitions (in their "original form") that have challenged the idea of expanding the city's limited and slow streetcar system (for tourists and developers) with the alternate idea of confining that novelty system to downtown and investing instead in a more modern, rapid and expanded transit system to benefit the people.

Because Clay was disrupting the City / newspaper's streetcar ambitions with his perseverance, the city hatched a scheme to try and undermine public support for Clay and his cause by ordering the city's security force to place Clay on its secret "Watch List" for citizens the city deems "dangerous." Falsely profiling Clay as dangerous resulted in Clay being (on numerous occasions) harassed, defamed and bird-dogged by an armed security guard while at city hall.

In court, the city's mighty legal staff will argue that the city's harmful, defamatory and vindictive act against citizen Clay "matters little," was a "governmental function" protected from liability and was just a routine security operation performed "for the common good of all."

Citizen Clay will argue (Pro Se) the city is lying, that its illegal act against him is not protected from liability and that the city's nefarious act was not performed to benefit the common good, but rather performed to benefit the city by harassing and defaming its foremost political opponent.

Kansas City is not going anywhere but downhill until it gets a real "paper for the people" and elects a legitimate honest open government for the people that will not only let the people vote but also let the people freely petition their government for "redress of grievances" without fear of retaliation.

Kansas City Mayoral Candidate, Clay Chastain

  1. Translation on your red line TKC - Cross politicians in KC and they'll lock you up.

Actually, Clay is making an important point here. But I still don't want his yard sign in my lawn.

  5. "Falsely profiling Clay as dangerous" - wrong, ask any good-looking woman.

And meanwhile, he'll still only get 6 or 7% of the vote like always, which is why most "newsies" recognize him for what he is: a candidate who is not viable and has no chance of winning.

More and more he reminds me of this guy.

  6. Delete the "or" and the two extra spaces between the 6 and 7 in your post, @7:42, and you'll sound like you actually know what you're talking about.

  14. i do not understand his commuter idea. A commuter train would be for tourists and developers too. There is no real urban fabric in this town where all people go to work to make a commuter train viable. What is someone going to do take the commuter train to the zoo or union station or kauffman stadium, then take the subway, i mean bus, to their place of employment on metcalf. So to make it SEEM at all viable, a commuter network would have to have developers build a bunch of 10 year REIT crap out in Tiffany Town or require all businesses to move their offices to main street and downtown.

    ReplyDelete
  15. so he may as well just say he wants to expand the toy train out to the airport, to the zoo, to the stadium, and stop pretending the city can be anything else but a convention town at this point, which it may very well fail at judging by the town's priorities.
This town is 40 years from being a gutted dump like detroit and FLint MI, what industries are going to keep it afloat?

  17. Crime
    Street Repair
    Flooding

These are the three biggest problems that KC needs to deal with first, but there's not a single candidate who's interested.

  19. I want Clay to scare the current entrenched interests, that are so mediocre as is repetitively demonstrated. You have to clean house or the machinery gets really good at setting up pork.

Remember, the Kansas machine thought they had it all tied down, until suddenly they didn't. The current Council is a B-team at best. If he is hostile to the current Airport fiasco, and to building subsidized garages for the wealthy, then he is on the right track.

Wait until the usual suspects march out their pawns, Clay should anticipate them and put the spotlight on what goes on. He should run on a platform of any city hall player making over 80k who has been there more than a decade is out. And call for a change on city manager, with that being central to his administration platform.

How about a scorecard on smart city, smart grid, green zone, transit innovation, airport. Undress who got the money in an audit process. That ought to rile up the entrenched glommers.
