KANSAS CITY STREETS ARE GARBAGE AFTER SNOW: BLAME MAYOR SLY JAMES AND CITY MANAGER TROY SCHULTE!!!

Winter can be tough in Kansas City and snowfall is to be expected.

However . . .

AFTER NEARLY EIGHT YEARS MAYOR SLY JAMES AND CITY MANAGER TROY SCHULTE HAVE FAILED TO MAKE EVEN A SINGLE IMPROVEMENT IN HOW KANSAS CITY CLEANS STREETS AFTER SNOWFALL!!!

Seriously, KCMO streets are dangerous and the problem isn't any kind of unusual weather but merely that City Hall leadership has been more focused on development subsidy than something as simple as improving snow removal.

Examples . . .

- The tech to monitor snow plows, that was actually implemented by Mayor Funkhouser.

- KCMO Neighborhood streets are nearly impassible this morning and residents without a truck are better off just staying at home today.

- Main arteries downtown are passable but everything else run by KCMO is a snowy field of hot garbage.

And so . . . We ask this open question . . .

WHAT HAS MAYOR SLY DONE TO IMPROVE SNOW REMOVAL DURING HIS TENURE GIVEN CONSISTENT COMPLAINTS?!?!

I'll wait for the answer.

Meanwhile, JoCo has just as many streets and many different municipalities with smaller budgets but manages to keep their roads in much better condition than KC Proper given that our 12th & Oak leadership crew who love playing amateur developer with other people's money.

  1. Maybe but is Sly even in town. He barely spends any time in KC anymore. He loves D.C. and isn't so impressed with the locals any longer. It'll be easy for him to give up one condo for the next and shake the dust, snow and rain from this town after his term is over.

    1. Snow, crime, flooding.

Be fair. Sly never promised to care about any of that stuff.

He said he was going to be a salesman for KC and that's exactly what he did. He passed at least 20 new taxes and sold off most of downtown.

  3. Roads are just wet. They are fine. I've been out for 2 hours already. Take your time, be careful, but it's just wet, heavy snow. Downed power lines and such are the biggest problem.

  4. Haha. I'm hardly City Hall. I drove all around KCMO proper. Yeah, if you dont need to get out then dont. But if you, dont panic. Its manageable.

  8. I have enough whiskey and dope to last a week. I don’t have to go out, but people should be careful out there.

  9. You won’t see Sly talking about snow removal... not his forte.

Top 5 Things Sly might be up to:

    1. Finding out who pulled the fire Alarms all night at the Colt’s hotel.
    2. Clearing driveways of KC Star editorial writers so they don’t endorse Clay Chastain.
    3. Doing arbitration- doesn’t make enough money as mayor.
    4. Rehashing plans with city-planners to name a bridge or street after him. Wants it done before Clay names one after him- has rejected such names as: “Fat-ass-do-nothing-but-look -good-in-my-bow-tie” bridge.
    5. Discussing plans to get the new terminal off the ground. Trying to have an additional vote for taxes and wants to only include those that voted for the street car and members of the soon-to-be-defunct editorial board. Taxes will include additional 1% Earnings tax - which already screws poor people disproportionately.

Bonus: Working on reducing crime. Going to hold a few more rallies and throw in some candles- have supporters double cross their fingers- and even discussing have the prolific crime-fighter Alonzo send his crime-fighting drone up in the air. What a plan!

  11. Blame Troy not Sly.

He has helped the hotel, helped the airport but doesn't give a damn about getting the streets in good working order.

  19. The first thing Clay should do after he is elected is to take a close look at the City Manager and see if an upgrade in this position would benefit the City.
I may be that Troy is just implementing the policy of the Council members. If this is the case Clay needs to look for a majority to overcome the bullies from the 3rd and 5th districts.

  20. @ 8:28—the ones that clear arrowhead is a private company that arrowhead pays for snow removal. They want it safe and all snow removed. Kansas City and sky don’t give a fuck about removing snow.

  22. I live part time in Kansas City and part time in rural Missouri. Our streets in rural Missouri are cleaned down to the asphalt even up to the curb with very little tax dollars coming into the town. Your go bond money is going straight into the pockets of city officials. You people are so stupid you keep doing the same thing over and over again. It's your own fault. You are more concerned about flying your RESIST flags and GAY flags then you bitch about holes in the streets crime and snow. Sad thing is, you will turn right around and do it again.

That's the definition of insanity... Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting results.

Oh and email Cleaver and tell him he is against American laws of the land and Anti-American! Let everyone know he wanted a boarder wall during Obama but not during Trump! He's an American TERRORIST!!!!! Spread it on social media!

  28. Well Tony, and your cadre of geniuses, from what deep well of experience and knowledge do you draw to posit a snow-removal strategy? Ever worked for a public works or state road crew? Know anything about chemistry, fluid dynamics, even how to operate a tandem dump with a plow? Oh, you shoveled a walk now and then, right? Then shut the fuck up and thank a plow operator the next time you encounter one (which will be rarely, since they are out WORKING while you try to navigate your Barcalounger and tv remote at the same time).

    1. I have a solution for you, they need to go out and hire someone from a cold and snowy weather City say Minneapolis Cleveland Buffalo and hire an assistant from one of those local municipalities where they take snow plowing to a whole new level! Have you ever seen a snow plow operator running up on the I-90 corridor? Have you ever seen a snow plow operator working in the Buffalo Burrows where the streets are more tiny were they have Lake Effect snows up to twice of what we just got and they don't miss a Beat.

  29. Every one gripes about snow but it eventually melts and is forgotten so why would an elected municipal official wear out his streets and public works staff and make enemies To deal with later? Bitching about snow plowing is akin to bitching about young people skateboarding or other resentment subjects.

    ReplyDelete
  30. @1:25 - I'd be willing to bet that a number of us could come up with something better that the present City Government's "Solar Powered" technique of waiting for the sun to melt the snow off!

What will be seen is the City's snowplow operator driving around at about ten mile over the posted speed limits with the blades mounted on their trucks raised about ten inches in the air. That way Sly and Troy can point to GPS records "proving" that Streets have been plowed!

We've seen this scam far too many times, so take your own advice about shutting up!
