TKC EXCLUSIVE NEWSFLASH!!! MISSOURI SENATOR-ELECT USES E-MAIL AND LIES!!! HERE'S WHY KANSAS CITY STAR REPORT ON JOSH HAWLEY IS GARBAGE!!!

Took my sweet time with this one because TKC has no interest in defending "Golden Boy" Josh Hawley.

Real talk: There isn't anybody who supports Josh Hawley who wasn't somehow getting paid to do as much. He was the lesser evil running against Claire Mccaskill who was too scared to show her face on TV and stupidly thought that bashing her own party during a historic Blue Wave was the best strategy. Also, she was depending on the Black vote in KC & STL after an entire career spent working against the interest of urban core communities.

Back to Hawley . . .

In order to weasel his way into office, Hawley had to use turncoat tactics on a former Navy Seal and provide leverage to further disgrace a politico embroiled in a sex scandal.

Hawley lied about his healthcare position and didn't have the decency to offer even a modicum of honesty to voters and admit that he was cutting requirements for insurance companies to cover preexisting conditions and leaving vulnerable residents exposed with few alternatives.

And yeah, his Missouri credentials are weak. He's a careerist who has spent most of his adult life bouncing around the coasts chasing higher paying jobs out of reach to most voters.

Nevertheless . . .

THE KANSAS CITY STAR REPORT ON JOSH HAWLEY IS GARBAGE AND EXPOSES NOTHING MORE THAN A POLITICALLY AMBITIOUS CREEP USING E-MAIL!!!

Journalism . . .  Take a whiff of the scent that gives away this NOTHING BURGER right in the headline . . .

Records: Hawley’s AG office used private emails, consulted with political operatives

Fact check . . .

USING PRIVATE E-MAIL AND TALKING TO CONSULTANTS PRETTY MUCH DESCRIBES THE DAILY ACTIVITY OF EVERY ELECTED OFFICIAL IN THE UNITED STATES!!!

Moreover, only the most naive reader believes there is any merit to supposition that these allegations will bring and real charges or anything beyond an "ethics" wrist slap.

Instead, what's more interesting is why Missouri’s GOP Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft got the ball rolling on this complaint. Despite Red State super majority chest thumping . . . Smarter Republicans are worried about the future. With votes for medical marijuana and an higher minimum wage, the Missouri GOP knows that their stranglehold on Show-Me politics isn't absolute. In the long term, history demonstrates that cities always win any struggle against rural areas. Places like Joplin, Columbia and Springfield are becoming increasingly urbanized and smarter conservative strategists understand the challenges facing Republicans in Missouri. Given Hawley's limited support among the Missouri political establishment, loyalty to the newbie Senator doesn't run very deep.

And so, let's go through it one by one . . . What did The Star expose about Senator-elect Josh Hawley???

- He and his consultants used private e-mail. SO WHAT???

This isn't a crime and newspaper documentation handed over by Team Hawley answers the SecState investigation promptly and with a surprising amount of transparency. The records demonstrate Hawley did not use any taxpayer funds for political campaigns or outside consultants. But the fact is, Missouri law allows elected officials to spend campaign cash to pay for expenses incurred in connection with their official duties.

- His consultants "directed" staff??? Reality: Hawley and his office were more focused on the Senate campaign than doing their job. EVERYBODY knew that the second he announced his bid.

Again, if this was really against the law just about every politico in the U.S. would be locked up. Moreover, the complaint is petty and written in a way just clever enough to trick partisan hacks into imagining impropriety.

- Josh Hawley broke his campaign promises and has been hypocritical given his criticism of career politicians. BINGO!!! But that's not against the law either.

Again, if there was a law against hypocrisy than most adults would be in jail. This political talking point worked into the report targeting the newbie Senator-elect offers another example that the weekend special is more partisan screed than journalism.

And so in order to further myth-bust sketchy journalism published in the Winter doldrums before Christmas . . .

Josh Hawley won by getting cozy with Prez Trump but that connection cuts both ways and alienates him from establishment Republicans who still aren't ready to stick their neck out for a reality TV star and his pr0n payoff troubles. Hawley is "outed" as an ambitious hypocrite like all politicians but it doesn't take a newspaper exposé to reveal this fact. More importantly, the Star pushing this dreck offers more insight into their own situation -- A struggling newspaper selling "journalism" that's nothing more than a weak hit piece based mostly on superficial complaints from progressive activist David Brock and the Media Matters crew as less important local newsies speculate on "potentially illegal" actions without offering any proof.

You decide . . .

    1. Thank you for the David Brock and Media Matters mention. I notice the Star leaves them out of their report even though that's where the complaints originated. I guess they don't want to cite the source for most of their "journalism" for Saturday.

  6. Here's what I like about your post Tony: You make it clear from the get go that you aren't a fan of Josh Hawley with some pretty harsh and somewhat unfair criticism. Repeatedly calling the incoming Senator a "golden boy" isn't very professional but it's also very funny. Josh Hawley is a self-made man who has worked very hard for what he has achieved but I also have agree that those photos of him working out during a workday were more than mildly disturbing.

And yes, the Republicans have been on sometime about the David Brock connection. But what you point out about the use of private e-mail is correct. I should note that all of the candidates currently running for K mayor are also not only using private e-mail but also using unsolicited bulk e-mail to reach more donors and potential voters. It's common practice.

I think it's important to challenge the Star beyond the same old left vs. right debate and in this one you've obviously proven there is more than enough skepticism to go around. Nice work.

    1. Hawley was more than the lesser evil, that's too dismissive. He was a knight in shining armor as far as I'm concerned. He got rid of Senator Claire McCaskill and that might be the greatest accomplishment of his career. I don't care if he worked out during the day or had a few campaign meetings. He did Missouri a great service.

  7. People still read the newspaper.

    That's HILARIOUS!

  8. ^^^^ It was self-service. Hawley only cares about his career. Quit giving him accolades, he is one of the most selfish politicians Missouri has ever seen.

  9. Ha!
Every politician who ever held office is self-serving.
They are running for office. Not sainthood.

  11. Yet one more example of the GOP ignoring the Rule of Law.

If they do it, I guess it's not a crime. Then they trash law enforcement and the courts to make sure.

The GOP is now the party of crooks and fascists. But at least they aren't an uppity bitch named Claire.

    1. Because Hillary isn't a crook, noooo siree. ;) Manifestly guilty of illegally using a private email server.

You mean Mueller's Rule of Law? Weaponized, corrupt DOJ, compromised investigators that had to be fired for bias, fradulent FISA warrant and so on? Tell me you intended comedy, because you're a laugh riot.
