KU MED HOT SPOT TEACHABLE MOMENT: RAMPANT DEVELOPMENT THWARTED BY DEADLY VIOLENCE AND CRIME!!!

The past 48 hours have been the most deadly and dangerous in KU Med campus history.

A nearby 28-hour standoff concluded today wherein the administration and police worked diligently to achieve a media blackout.

And this morning a horrific murder/suicide sent bullets flying at the hospital entrance.

The narrative following the tragic day in KU Med history mostly focuses patient care, employee resolve and most of the hype that appears in their commercials.

Conservative Jack Cashill offers the most provocative perspective lamenting KU Med Center advocacy against gun rights.

However, here's a takeaway that impacts all of the metro in one way or another . . .

AS KU MED ENCROACHES ON SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOODS, THEIR BOOMING DEVELOPMENT HASN'T STOPPED INCREASING CRIME NEAR THEIR CAMPUS THAT HAS NOW RESULTED IN A HORRIFIC MURDER SCENE ON THEIR FRONT DOORSTEP!!!

From the streetcar to new hotels and even corporate campuses established in the Southland, we've seen the same scenario emerge throughout KCMO . . .

Development and economic hype hasn't helped cut down on the quotient of local crime and tragic fatalities that are more common than most realize.

Over the past few years the nearby 39th Street corridor has seen an uptick in assaults and biz robberies that they struggle to address. While the KU Med Center boom brings new money, it also provides fertile ground for real estate slap fighting and opportunistic criminals.

And so, deadly domestic drama today isn't an outlier but rather a symptom of development hype that still confronts the same problem as the rest of the KC Metro: Deadly crime at their front door which thwarts so much hype regarding so-called progress.

You decide . . .

  1. I think the first link really tells the more appropriate story. In both of the instances at the University of Kansas medical center, we see mental health issues impacting the community. It's a sign that we need to focus more on providing treatment along with garnering greater resources to help more people before they become violent or threaten others.

    1. There are some great restaurants on 39th street, just east of KU med but I always hate when the doctors and nurses wear their scrubs to go get a bite to eat. God only knows what kind of pathogens they're dragging around this area with them. Seriously, TKC, I would like to see a public awareness campaign urging them to change clothes before they go out to a restaurant. We don't want their bed pan leftovers on local tables!

    2. Keep building, keep buying, keep eating.

Pay no attention to the 600 point drop today!

    3. Yes if a health worker wears scrubs from home to work and then to lunch etc then that defeats the entire point! Then you're just wearing loose clothes that hide your amassing holiday weight gains. The crocs are harder to explain. I think they just mean "I've given up."

  2. Another gun free campus gets a dose of reality. I'm glad others weren't hurt, it's sad this guy couldn't live with a breakup and just move on. Not that hard. There are other fish in the sea.

  3. Teaching hospitals are never a wise choice. KCK is starting to learn that, they've been getting screwed on this deal too.

  4. Hey now, that's the 2nd best hospital in KCK you're talking about!

  5. Why hasn’t someone demanded that the hospital be renamed to MLK hospital yet? What a bunch of racists!

  6. This tragic incident didn't have anything to do with crime in kc or ku med.....it about pussy

  7. KC is seeing a rise in violence and its sad seeing its citizenry that has been brainwashed by the diversity meme that is slowly eroding away our safety in everyday life

It's sad how people just take it because they'd rather (or have a loved one) be a victim of a crime than even appear to have the slightest hint of racism. Virtual signaling is literally the cancer destroying american society. Few realize this
