Confession . . . TKC buys the Sunday paper at a local gas station because of a lady friend who has a dog that will never be trained.
What stood out . . .
TODAY'S PAPER WAS THE LIGHTEST SUNDAY EDITION KANSAS CITY HAS WITNESSED FROM THE (FADING) STAR IN MORE THAN A GENERATION!!!
Worse still, the big price tag ALMOST makes an investment in doggie pads worthwhile . . . Given that no creature associated with this blog will ever learn about anything close to discipline.
Not joking, a pee pad is the only practical use I've seen for the paper given that uses books for potty time entertainment . . . Forgive the horrific visual on that one . . . But I digress . . .
Of course the news in today's edition was old and coupons are for stuff I'm not gonna buy anyhoo . . . Nevertheless, regular subscribers are paying big bucks for a product that's getting more sparse every week.

ReplyDeleteSame here. I mostly pick it up on Sundays, but it's obvious the end is near. they'll be 'pivoting' to a truly digital focus in day now, reduce frequency during the week, layoff more staff, and try to be a digital media company. The print product is in its final death throes.
ReplyDeleteThe red star is dead!
ReplyDeleteThey have to much competition, EVERY Television news outlets have websites, raido station news website independent news website .Drudge even reports on the Stupid Criminals in KANSAS CITY AND JOHNSON COUNTY KANSAS AS WELL. FOR THE METRO AREA TO BE MAKING NATIONAL NEWS A FEW TIMES A WEEK THE CRIME IS GETTING OUT OF HAND THE ADVERTISER IS LEAVING THE STAR THEY RUN AN AD AND NO ONE SHOWS UP.
ReplyDeleteSorry about that And Yes THE Johnson County Kansas Jail is full. That will be the next hot bed of crime.
ReplyDeleteIf we let more illegals in the USA, we will have to build more jails because the democrat won’t let us deport them.
DeleteYea! And only four geezers cared!
ReplyDelete$4 for the Sunday paper?
ReplyDeleteLol
The young don't read they take instructions from the screen.
ReplyDeleteWe got the geezers also. GeezerBook for example.
ReplyDeleteShitter is popular also. Still amazingly enough. Of course it is designed so any idiot can use it.
ReplyDeleteWalmart is moth balling 79 stores this month and the closings only effects 6 cashiers.
ReplyDeleteRight you got free google fiber and now your a technology authority.
ReplyDeleteWhat could go wrong with a population of brainwashed zombies staring at screens.
ReplyDelete^^^^ everything! Just steer clear of them and all will be good, god these young people are dumb as rocks
ReplyDelete6:01 that’s funny as hell! Too bad for those kcsd cashiers, what ever will these dummies do now!
ReplyDeleteSo I take it, Tony, you have several decades of Sunday Stars to refer to and compare with?
ReplyDeleteHaha Haha.
P.s. of course you don't. Therefore your observation is a joke.
And it's STILL $4.00!!! Why???
ReplyDeleteI've been saying for 5 years it'll be a 3-4 day paper by 2020 or earlier.
ReplyDeleteThe Star is not dying so much as it is committing suicide. No business can alienate half its potential customer base and hope to succeed. Problem is, brain dead journalists think they have a sacred mission (getting Democrats elected) that is above monetary matters.
ReplyDeleteConstantly dissing half of your customer base (Republicans) is not a good business model.
ReplyDeleteThe paper is dying like all the geezers who still read it.
ReplyDeleteDilbert, Dustin, Garfield, Hagar the Horrible, B.C., Diamond Lil ... what the fate of my favorite strips????
