Officials Pass A Sweeping Measure To Revive Kansas City's Most Distressed Neighborhoods
Deets:
The “Revive the East Side” initiative, sponsored by 6th District councilman and 2019 mayoral candidate Scott Taylor, would, among other things, establish a $10 million home improvement fund, create tax credits to encourage hiring workers who live in high unemployment areas, improve trash collection and “protect long-time residents against gentrification.”
It’s a lot to promise, noted 3rd District councilman Jermaine Reed, who voted against the measure. He called it overly ambitious and believes it would give residents of needy neighborhoods with false hope.
“The people in the 3rd and 5th District, right in the urban core, we can’t continue to hope and wait and wish that something would happen,” Reed said.
Reed also said he was waiting to hear how the program would be funded; those details haven’t been settled.

Phil Glynn was revealed as a Kander Trojan Horse crony.
Jason Kander was forced to withdraw from the race.
Quinton Lucas can't hold his liquor (even if it's only 2.5 beers).
Of those declared so far, that leaves us with Scott Wagner, Steve Miller, Jolie Justus, and the soon to be revealed Scott Taylor. Our file is getting thick and juicy on Justus, so that is in the works as well. Can we clear the field down to 2? Stay tuned!

The Supreme Court ratified the anti-Kelo pro-Pfizer lawsuit that even allowed the public taking of private property not just for public purposes like schools, but to give, with incentives, to businesses!

Just who do you think subsidizes the campaigns of anyone for KCMO City Council? (And before the trolls attack, remember, I was the first woman to manage a mayoral campaign in KCMO, 1979. Joel Pelofsky. Lost to Berkley, but we defeated Charlie Wheeler. Bruce Watkins came in 2nd.
The other thing that sticks out of this proposal is pretending $10 million will accomplish anything east of Troost. You've blown $120 million or more-- just in the 4 block loser jazz district. So is $10 million supposed to be a revolving loan fund? Nobody will pay it back. It will be considered gifts. To the nimble, first in line.

KCMO has collected the east side tax for over a year and it has been used for no east side improvements.
