Missouri Republicans maintain a SUPER MAJORITY throughout the State despite the fact that the two most populous cities are both Democratic controlled and towns like Columbia, Springfield & Joplin actually have quite active cultural scenes and aren't as "rural" as most would like to think . . . McCaskill loss in Missouri illustrates urban-rural divide
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - President Donald Trump might have lost ground with suburban voters during the midterm elections, but rural voters in Missouri more than made up for it by strongly supporting Trump-backed Republican Josh Hawley, who ousted self-described moderate Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill on Tuesday.

We were discussing this race at work and a co-worker, who recently relocated here from Iowa joked that she was right in calling MO a “southern state.” That has long been a topic of debate, but their politics have definitely changed to mirror the “official” south.
