KANSAS CITY ARMISTICE 100 PLAYLIST: WWI AFTERMATH AND PTSD NATION!!!

At the conclusion of the Armistice centennial and Veterans day we notice that the occasion was documented but not offered any context by corporate and state sponsored media . . .

KSHB: Hundreds attend ceremony at World War I Memorial to mark centennial of armistice

Fox4: Poppy illumination at Liberty Memorial gives visitors a unique reflection on WWI

WDAF: World War I sparked from economic jealously, desires for power, and nationalism

KMBC: New documentary restores World War I footage like never before

Time: President Trump Honors Fallen Soldiers in World War I Commemoration Speech'

And so . . .

Our TKC takeaway is that the commemoration of WWI and Veterans Day reveals the fundamental impact that post traumatic stress disorder upon the nation.

Here's a myriad of news links and perspectives which detail the effect of PTSD on the politics and culture of the United States:

PBS: From shell-shock to PTSD, a century of invisible war trauma

Self: What It's Like to Live With PTSD After Escaping Domestic Violence

Newsweek: Some College Students Suffered PTSD-Like Symptoms After 'Traumatic' Campaign

Psych Today: Victims of child bullying can end up with PTSD later in life.

And so, while urge those who need help to seek it and reject any implication mental health stigma, like a former KCMO candidate Jason Kander . . . We also know that music helps soothe the troubled mind and we offer this playlist of WWI tunes as a bridge for the overnight . . .

The Real USA Anthem . . .

Rap Battle History Explainer . . .

Pop Culture Touchstone . . .

Traditional Irish Tune . . .

Classic That Inspired KC Monument . . .

Nice Clip Regarding The Christmas Truce . . .

Even better . . .

A cowtown conclusion to today's festivities as kegendary Kansas City Journalist Bev Chapman posts: "This is a glimpse of the "Peace and Remembrance" light display at Liberty Memorial in Kansas City to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One."

    1. Don't forget veterans on KC streets and still struggling to reincorporate themselves into society. You should continue to post about The Veterans Community Project and the amazing work they are doing.

    1. REALLY need to acknowledge there is also a war of gun violence on KC streets that only stops for the cold. We need to do something about that also.

  3. Do not forget to highlight Jason Pander, one of the candidates running for KCMO mayor, who dropped out of the race to address his PTSD issues.

  6. "PTSD is just made-up..." - tell that to a 'Nam Vet with violent tendencies; see what happens next :-)

  7. PTSD is not made up, but it is over diagnosed and over treated. Too many people use it to get a lifetime disability rating, and too many people let that happen.

  8. Even Trump has PTSD. To this day, his personal war against STDs in the 1970s still triggers his bone spurs and impacts his schedule.

Trump is so traumatized, he has yet to travel to visit troops in Afghanistan or Iraq.

He can't even get up the nerve to face raindrops in Paris to pay tribute to US soldiers killed in WWI. He can't even get off his ass today and visit Arlington. Never forget.

  9. Remember, your President hates veterans. Dodged the draft five times. Refused to speak at the WWI memorial ceremony because his hair couldn’t Handel the rain. Only likes veterans who weren’t captured. Hasn’t visited the troops overseas because he’s too busy golfing. Got kicked out of military school.
