As usual, our blog community was FIRST to note that insiders are clamoring for her return to political life that would undoubtedly shake up and potentially dominate a crowded Kansas City mayor's race.

At the end of the year as the murder count ramps up and KCMO ranks as the 5th deadliest town in the nation . . . Crime is tragically off the City Hall agenda. Nevertheless, tax fighter Patrick Touhey did an excellent job taking Mayor Sly to task on the subject of police on local streets . . . Or lack thereof . . . It's a vital topic that needs to be a bigger part of the KCMO discourse as we slouch toward election season.

Tyreek Hill


This footballer with nearly incomprehensible blazing speed offered what was possibly the finest example of local stoicism and Midwestern reserve at the outset of the week . . . Chiefs WR didn't get mad when Pats fan threw beer on him while insulting and berating him. Instead he kept his cool, took it all in stride and proved himself to be a real world KANSAS CITY CLASS ACT -- Even in the face of defeat. This year fans have been manic in their celebration of Patrick Mahomes but a quarterback is nothing without a quality receiver . . . Tyreek Hill makes Mr. Mahomes look even better. Moreover, the fastest man in the NFL is a big part of the reason the team is finally being taken seriously.
