HALLOWEEN HATER UPDATE: ST. LUKES FIRES KANSAS CITY NURSE OVER BLACKFACE INSULT TO BEYONCE!!!

Politically charged Halloween social media drama has a local nurse unemployed after NATIONWIDE BACKLASH AGAINST HER AFFRONT TO THE POP DIVA . . . And phone cameras remind us that the power of frenemis has always been a very real detriment to local lives. Take a look:

St. Luke's nurse out of job after posting blackface photo online

LEE'S SUMMIT, MO (KCTV) -- A nurse at St. Luke's Hospital no longer has a job after posting an offensive photo online.

  1. St. Lukes could well be in for a major lawsuit over this. Dressing up as Beyonce and/or Jay Z is hardly a crime, and a good lawyer could easily frame this as curtailment of First Amendment freedom of expression

  5. Your 1st amendment rights don't extend to job protections.

You can be fired for being a racist, or just being an idiot. You don't have to commit a crime to be fired.

Just tried on my Rabbi-with-multiple-gunshot-wounds Halloween costume. I guess it's a good thing I'm self-employed. Happy Halloween everyone !

    1. Self-employed is an euphemism for unemployed. Everyone knows that.

    2. Hush that - it's how radish pads out his wafer-thin resume. Under "computer skills" it says "Oregon trail" and "windows 95" ...

  8. Praying that the Doctors at St Lukes are smarter than the St Luke admin who can't tell the difference between an employee dressing up in costume as a famous black woman verses someone being a racist.

  9. 6:52 what happens when your off work is your own business, they can’t control what you can and can’t do. But that’s the dummocrap way, invade your privacy and fire you.

This lady is gonna make some money off of this poorly made decision.

  10. 6:52, or for being a queer?

  11. Bull shit 7:18. Just one example: Employers can force you to stay drug free in your off hours. Even if weed is legal in your state, they could still fire you if you fail a drug test.

Your employer can make all sorts of demands about your free time. The federal protections are basically defined as gender, race, religion, disability, etc. That's the law. If you don't like their demands, you can quit (or be fired). Your speech is not protected.

Sexual orientation isn't federally protected. An employer could fire you for homosexual acts committed in your free time if they want to.

Something tells me you aren't lawyer and you won't be taking her "case".

    ReplyDelete

  12. I don't know what the laws are on this but I think it was damn funny and I'm sure she can get a job somewhere else, healthcare workers have always been in demand.

Whatever the case, it was funny! I'm dressing like Hilary with my depends on the outside of my pantsuit. I can't get fired I'm self employed.

  13. 6:23 comment NAILED it first!

I hope that nurse sues St. Lukes and gets a HUGE settlement.

She broke no laws, and was simply doing something funny on her own private time to go to a party. Getting fired? Are you kidding me?

    St. Lukes SUCKS!

Does everyone understand what a COSTUME party is? Am I going to get fired for dressing as a DEVIL, a POLITICIAN, a LESBIAN...or combine all 3 together and go as Hillary Clinton?

Stand up to Political Correctness and say NO MORE!

  14. By lunchtime, the hospital released a statement saying Heenan was no longer an employee saying it is committed to a "culture of diversity and inclusion."

LOL right sez the humorless executives and their peon human resources managers.

    1. Very true. I feel for her; it’s certainly not something that warrants being fired over, but social media is the world’s fishbowl.

  17. This is about "maintaining the Company image".
Hospitals are super sensitive how they are portrayed to the public.
When you are hired, you electronically sign a whole shitload of stuff.
Hardly anyone ever reads it. Contained in there is a statement that says that you will maintain a professional image at all times, even in your off hours. People get fired all of the time for posting shit on Facebook that the hospital interprets as reflecting bad on them.

    Stupid rules? Probably.
Will she get her job back or get a settlement? Nope.

  18. Not sure how kids enjoy the modern Halloween event. When every costume is considered cultural appropriation or racist, why bother? Even Frankenstein, ghosts, and apparently Dracula can be considered racially insensitive. Suspect liberals will want to eventually do away with it, but then masked black youths from the poor part of town won't have the yearly right to knock on the doors of rich white people and demand stuff without being arrested. Good, rich, white folk candy is an especially rare treat for poor black kids.

If Trump sees this story, he'll probably nominate the nurse to be the new VA Secretary.

  27. She ain't gettin a settlement you fucking morons. You know why don't do blackface? Study some history dipshits.

I doubt this lady is a bad person, racist, what have you.....but what she did was extremely stupid. If you hopeless idiots are too dumb to see that then you're probably headed for the same result at some point in your careers.

  28. Using the employer's logic, then anyone captured on TV at Chief's games doing the "Tomahawk Chop" that isn't a registered Native American can be fired for cause.

    ReplyDelete
  29. 9:32 above, try telling that to the moron at 8:41 who has no comprehension of what a Halloween costume party is about.

    Context is everything.

The nurse didn't go to work, religious service, or shopping dressed like that, she went to a Halloween party!

  30. "Lend Me a Tenor", "Finnian's Rainbow", "Big River". No more or OK? Halloween? Not OK. "Hamilton"??
