WESTPORT SMACKDOWN AFTERMATH: KANSAS CITY DEBATES KCPD 'STRIKE' AGAINST WOMAN AMID ART FAIR FIGHT!!!
Thanks to the BEST AND BRIGHTEST IN THE KANSAS CITY DISCOURSE our blog community was a big part of the initial reaction to a viral video featuring a fight, lady smackdown and politico reaction to the incident.
And now . . .
INTERNETS ANGER OVER THE KCPD SMACK IGNITES CRITICISM OF KANSAS CITY POLICE TACTICS!!!
We focused on criticism from council last time, in follow-up coverage . . . It's important to highlight reaction from authorities.
KCPD explanation: “To release her (the woman’s) grip, another officer appears to forcefully slap downward at her arms and hands. This, coupled with her fighting and/or resisting likely caused her to fall in to the direction of the officer and onto the ground.”
Police also say, “regardless of males or females that are resisting, officers train in tactics to safely bring these situations under control. Some of the methods officers train in include strikes to release grasps of objects or other people.”
Perspective . . . Police work isn't pretty and while social justice crusading on this topic claims the higher ground, let's not forget that we're talking about early morning lady fighting in a boozy bar district that has continually hosted a great deal of violence from rowdy patrons.
As this issue moves forward to a debate about policy, we'll hear a lot from politically active denizens who might not be familiar with how nasty Westport can get among the late night party crowd.

I think the second angle of the video from the scene offers more context. The woman was fighting and wouldn't let go of another lady she was attacking. Don't usually agree with TKC but he's right when he says that police work isn't pretty. The "strike" might have actually prevented further injury and a fight that would've quickly gotten out of control.

Shame on you for defending violence against women. This is about use of force and defending the public from brutality. What a disgrace that there aren't many men willing to stand up for the rights of women, to protect women. This is why the Internet has become such a vitriolic environment. From the President on down, the hatred of women is encouraged.
That is a shame. I am here to say that there are many more people who stand up for women, who believe women and who will not tolerate this kind of violence and excessive force against women.

Neither my wife, nor mother, nor mother in law, nor daughters, nor sisters, nor friends; well, basically any female I associate with, would act like this. Even drunk. But, let's play philosophical. ReplyDeletePersonally I blame the schools. Even went out drinking there is a level of society and dignity and respect that we must maintain. Kids aren't getting taught that in school. The internet and social media teaches them that they have to be the biggest and baddest person in the room. You get a whole District full of people like that and there are bound to be fights. The sad thing here is that it's only going to get worse and Kansas City is forced to pay for the cost clean up the mess and endure the BS of these type of people whose arrogance dominates not just their lives but our culture at Large.
