For those who don't know . . . The Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus is "a multipartisan, multicultural, grass roots organization dedicated to increasing women's participation in politics and creating a power base designed to achieve equality for all women" according to their website. In practice the group one of the strongest liberal "girl power" organizations in the metro and last night they flexed their muscle a the annual "torch dinner" gala event.
In fact, they partied with one of the leading ladies in national politics during this contentious midterm.

"Last night, we celebrated the members of the Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus and the important work the organization does increase women's participation in our local politics. It was a privilege to be among so many impressive candidates, volunteers, and supporters."

In this set readers will see a couple of council members & mayoral candidates, more than a few state Reps, a smattering of activists, STAUBIO and of course the corporate reps who keep the whole gravy train running.
The top ranking lady party took place at the new Midtown Kansas City, MO Plexpod office space in the 1923 room. It's not too far away from the Kansas 3rd District but maybe just a bit more comfortable and welcoming of the progressive agenda in the heart of the metro urban core.
Like it or not, this kinda reminds us of the Brent Welder EPIC campaign rally in KCK that was mostly filled with KCMO Brookside & Westport supporters -- A nice showing but not something that will count come election time.
Maybe more importantly . . .

ReplyDeleteI have given up trying to reconcile reality with what women think. My wife complains about growing up in poverty as a child. I tell her that I took her away from that and made her a multi-millionaire and she still complains abut her childhood of poverty.
