Only Toy Train Streetcar Extension Will Save Kansas City World Cup Bid?!?!

Soccer and public transit top this pricey bit of "journalism" promo for stuff that most locals don't really want . . .

Kansas City's World Cup Primed, But Missing FIFA's Marks For Transportation

Kansas City-area officials celebrated in June when the U.S., Canada and Mexico won their combined bid to host the men's World Cup soccer tournament in 2026. That's because the city is one of 17 in the U.S. that have a chance at hosting matches.

  1. "Only Toy Train Streetcar Extension Will Save Kansas City World Cup Bid?!?!"

The bid, which had a snowball's chance in hell, is doomed.

  2. I'd love to see a World Cup game in KC, but not at the expense of common sense and wasteful spending. It's ONE GAME.

  3. Are they planning on building tracks all the way to the stadium and back? 3.7 miles is gonna cost us 224 million per the price tag from two years ago so it will cost us 2 billion to go to arrowhead, screw that, it’s a bald face lie anyway.

  4. Make the world cup come to us. This civic bending over with our money all the time e is getting embarrassing.

  5. It’s 8 miles to arrowhead one way from city hall and that’s by highway, where are they gonna put the tracks?

  6. Man is the bullshit getting deep or what? We have transportation it's called busses which will move faster than that ignorant street car can.

  7. The fair weather toy train is dead in the water. If it had a chance Trump would have had a dialogue with Slie when he was in Kansas City but Trump ignored Slie.

  8. Um the toy train extension has gone up to $316 million. Not $227 million.

Classic bait and switch. They knew damn well the price tag would be well north of those old figures.

  9. Sli(m)e needs to buy a whole shitload of soccer crap. He can put it with all his Amazon boxes and bow ties.

  10. Get more bird and lime scoots for the event. Bring in extra emergency room help for broken heads and bones. Can't miss.

  11. Put in Bicycle lanes to the Great Games! Just like in China.

  12. Soccer is for faggots and third world shithole countries like Mexico. We don’t want the World Cup here anyway.

  13. How many buses will 316 million buy ? And they are modern, no tracks required, brilliant!

  14. World Cup brings in Mexicans throwing balloons filled with urine at USA players.

  15. What's the world cup?

  16. The only time the Mayor holds a “united” sign is when he’s standing among White people.

  17. They literally had world cup matches in the rain forest in Brazil. This is stupid. It's not worth the cost and this is someone who's would be first in line to get a ticket to the world cup if it ever came to KC.

This sets up a bad course for KC because kander will get elected and he's more on appearances than actually fixing the city so we'll spend hundreds of millions on bullshit to entire a crooked soccer organization to play a game for an hour and a half out by the Denny's on I-70. Whether we get it or not, it doesn't matter, because the damage will be done.

KC would be an amazing host for it and probably better than any of the other places listed. Problem is KC has always had an identity problem. No one who's outside of hear even knows what this city is about. For us residents that's good but for luring international events it's a problem
