TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY QUESTION ONE THREATS AND SWEET TALK CROSS THE LINE!!!

Question One, also known as the Healthy Homes Initiative, was placed on the ballot through a citizen initiative petition and on August 7th voters will decide its fate.

From supporters: The ordinance will establish a special program under the health department. Anyone in the community can make a complaint, and inspectors with the health department will come and conduct an inspection. The program is designed to look for health hazards such as mold, rodents, exposed electrical wiring, standing water or sewage, etc.

Opponents: Kansas City's Rental-Inspection Question May Harm Instead Of Help. A spokesman said the proposal as currently written doesn’t include details about how much it would cost to implement an inspection program, which would be run by the city's health department. He added that officials could increase those fees if the program comes up short.

But even more fun than that . . .

OFF THE BOOKS THERE'S A DIRTY KANSAS CITY CAMPAIGN BATTLE THREATENING RENT INCREASES!!! MEANWHILE, SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIORS DOWNPLAY EVICTIONS THIS INITIATE WILL INSPIRE WHEN LOW-RENT LANDLORDS ARE FORCED TO SHUT DOWN!!!

TKC reality check: Either way this plays out po'folk are still pretty much screwed and their lot in life isn't going to be improved very much by an SJW campaign achievement or a few extra buck in their landlord's pocket.

Nevertheless . . .

Here's an example of the illegal campaigning showing up on broke-ass living spaces in KCMO . . .

"This is close to crossing the line of voter intimidation. They've already horribly misled voters... but this is a whole new level of disgusting."

You decide . . .

  1. Let's be honest here, there's only one line in here that I think offers some factual statement.

What's the benefit to the people who have to live in these rental units?

One side says it'll raise your rent. The other side doesn't have any rebuttal and believes that some KCMO fines will solve the problems of people forced to live in deplorable conditions. Good luck with that.

Plain and simple, it's just another tax.

  2. Typical garbage from city hall. Agree with 4:39. It is just another tax. Slie's approach now is if he can't get a tax passed on everyone he will start focusing on smaller groups until everyone is affected.

  3. Did anyone see the news story about ken mcclain? Ken mcclains "gopher" or as some would call "bag man" has admitted he has evidence of criminal activity which would lead to kens conviction and conviction of others. He also admitted to being "taken care of" like ken buying him a ferrari!!!!

  4. A city that can't manage efficient sidewalk repair or trash pickup now wants to get into housing.

  5. The rest of the commentators are right.
This will pass and KCMO will have no oversight or performance standards for actually supervising how it works (or doesn't) and what's actually accomplished.
Just like all the other grandiose announcements and "programs" that come out of city hall and then promptly disappear into the sea of incompetence.
Just another way to collect money without any accountability.

  6. I will vote no because the proposition contains no guidelines for an inspection program, but rather asks voters to trust KC government to fill in the blank slate. Sorry, having been lied to repeatedly, I do not trust KC government on anything.

  8. So, the Slumlords are afraid they may have to spend a little bit of the "Section 8" cash they get from the State each month on cleaning out the hovels they house the poor in, right?

Why threaten your renters with an increase?
They don't pay you anyway - why don't you threaten the State?
Oh, because they'll simply stop housing the unfortunate in the shitholes you collect rent on, won't they?

  10. I think the city politicians are the one misguided in campaigning so they can get fatter off of all of our taxes. Once they get their foot in the door, they will find a way to ticket renters and owners for whoever they think is causing the situation, probably both so they can meet their ticket quota and line their pockets with all of our money. This is the city that can't even handle trash collection correctly. There is no way I will give them more power. I do not want rent to go up and our local investors driven out because of this craziness. I am voting a resounding no because it has been well documented that there alread ordinances that are in he fact that the city is ignoring. furthermore the assumption that just because somebody owns a property they must be a dirty filthy rich landlord that needs punishing is class Warfare and communistic. I challenge anyone to give me an actual name of a landlord in an address where we can meet. We will document any violations inside and out and I will show you the city ordinances that already cover all of the problems. Then we can work together to force the city to enforce the already existing ordinances. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. 816-500-6394. I have been doing Contracting work for owners, renters, and landlords for decades. I'm also active in my neighborhood in this city. I do Electrical Plumbing Heating and Cooling and every imaginable thing regarding inspections repairs and helping neighbors find real answers to these problems. Help your neighbor by voting no.
