Tragic Kansas City Sunday Crash

KCPD: One person killed in crash off of NE Chouteau and N Cleveland

The Kansas City Police Department is investigating a fatal crash in the Northland. Police said that crash was reported around 5:04 p.m. near NE Chouteau Trafficway and N Cleveland Avenue. At least one person was killed. No word yet on what caused this crash, or the number of vehicles involved.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued a high-risk warning for West Nile virus infections (WNV) for northcentral, southcentral, and southwest Kansas. Northeast, southeast, and northwest Kansas are at moderate risk for WNV infections.

Former NTSB Chairman calls for duck boat ban

A former National Transportation Safety Board chairman is calling for the permanent ban of duck boats as amusement rides, just days after 17 people died on a duck boat in Table Rock Lake in Branson. Jim Hall, who served as NTSB chairman from 1993 to 2001, spoke to KMBC 9 News Sunday afternoon, saying the amphibious vehicles are very dangerous.
