'Trying to keep the faith': Missouri farmers brace for Trump's trade war - and drought

CEDAR COUNTY - Friday in southwest Missouri was all sun and heat, but Kalena and Billy Bruce were preparing for an economic storm they hope is short. The Bruces are part of the fifth generation in a family that holds more than 3,000 acres of farmland near Stockon, where they've owned land since before the Civil War, according to Kalena.

  1. So far nothing bad has actually happened. It's just been the liberal media scaring people with tales of doom. Then they search to find some poor farmer who says they're worried because the liberal media and liberal economists are preaching doom and gloom.

  3. Nothing bad has actually happened? There's some stats that disagree with that statement, say, for example Soybean prices. This stuff is gonna hurt some people, help some others. But hey, Trumpers gonna Trump and eat that shit sandwich regardless.

Just curious numbnuts 7:21, what do you consider a 'solid' media source?

  4. It is racist that you never see a black farmer. So I could not care less about the effect of tariffs.

    1. She puts out too. All farm girls put out. They grow up seeing animals do it, so they figure out stuff early. What else is there to do out there in the boonies?

  9. Awwww....the poor family farmer worried about the trade war that hasn't happened, and the drought, which is happening right now. First thing they need to do is blame Hillary or Obama or maybe even one of the Bush boys for the drought. Second, they need to stop worrying about a trade war because their President is looking out for them.

  10. Of course KCMO City Hall will soon have their trolls on this thread to explain to all of us how this is all Councilwoman Loar's fault, since her continual support for remodeling KCI rather than destroying it (as James et al. want) is the cause of both the Trade War and the Drought.

  11. @ 9:13 (and again @ 10:10, in support of yourself) if you've never seen a Black Farmer, you need to drop enough weight so you can get up the stairs from Mommy's Basement. Go Outside!

  12. @ 10:11, if you think she's "hot", I know a Duroc Sow you'd go nuts for!
Last time I saw anything looking like her, I had to put a ring through its nose so it wouldn't root under the fence!

  13. 1:29 I have farmed all my life and I’ve never seen a black farmer. Never thought about it either until just now.
