SHOCK!!! TKC BLOG COMMUNITY EXPOSED 'INCOMPLETE' SECURITY AMID KCMO STREET PRIVATIZATION HYPE!!! QUESTION: DO YOU FEEL SAFE IN WESTPORT?!?!
In the aftermath of more gunfire in a beleaguered Kansas City entertainment district, there's an effort to rewrite the story on the street privatization debate in Westport.
Yesterday morning our blog community was FIRST TO CALL OUT WESTPORT ON BROKEN STREET PRIVATIZATION PROMISES DESPITE THE HURRIED EFFORT PASS SKETCHY LEGISLATION to take away street access and enact a gun crackdown on locals.
To be fair, Westport responded by revealing that their security crackdown remains stalled and, of course, behind the scenes they blame KCMO without taking any responsibility for their inability to protect customers.
KCTV5: Westport shooting leaves 2 hurt as privatization measures remain incomplete
The reality . . .
WESTPORT LEADERS RAMMED THROUGH STREET PRIVATIZATION PLANS LAST YEAR AND NOW REFUSE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR FAILED SECURITY DESPITE CONSTANT HYPE!!!
Sadly, some of the leaders of Westport with rather gripe behind the scenes about hip-hop and City Hall politicos rather than do the work required to secure their establishments and streets. Example: Westport has been playing politics with the streetcar and the upcoming Council elections far more diligently then they have been looking to add increased lighting, parking accessibility and assisting with security in the neighborhoods that surround their district.
And so . . .
GIVEN THAT LEADERS OF THIS MIDTOWN ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT HAVE DROPPED THE BALL ONCE AGAIN AFTER THE LATEST SHOOTING: DO YOU FEEL SAFE IN WESTPORT?!?!
The knee-jerk reaction has been to "wait" for new security measures but it seems that KCMO has "waited" for Westport leaders to provide leadership in securing their biz for decades and they've continually reveled themselves unable to live up to that task.
Developing . . .
Blame the profit margin, not the people. Westport is simply dealing with the failing economics of their business and they want KCMO to pick up their tab.
ReplyDeleteTheir margins aren't good enough to add more security, so they want the city to foot more of the bill.
A lot of the businesses are going to get pushed out with more streetcar taxes.
To that I say, good riddance. We have enough people pushing liquor on the public already.
Westport took a swing and a miss. They were doing so good when they were trying to go upscale and foster establishments that didn't cater to the lowest common denominator. But that takes continual hard work, creativity and passion. It's easier just to sell cheap food and crap beer to the local scumbags. That's the heart of their problem and it's the defining characteristic of their so-called "leaders" who have been around KC far too long.
DeleteOf course I feel safe in Westport.
DeleteBut I only go during the day and I don't hang out with a bunch of thugs on the street at 1 o'clock in the morning. I don't think people deserve to be shot for just trying to have a good time but if you look at how Westport is set up. It can be very dangerous for people who don't exercise caution.
I have relatives that live downtown kcmo and after having a bad experience one night they told me they just don’t go out after dark. You know how sad that is? I bet KC decades ago was a fine place to go out like on the plaza. People were civil, bars in Westport were probably much much safer. In 2018 it’s “just part of living in a big city”.
DeleteI’m glad Tony’s kc stays on top of this because local news won’t.
ReplyDeleteI never feel safe anywhere east of the stateline. And you know what, i really hate to admit that but it's fact and it's how bad KC has become.
ReplyDelete^^^^ Truth.

No one, not even blacks can ever afford to let their guard down, around blacks. Westport is just another area, one of what is now tens of thousands of shopping areas, neighborhoods, cities and entire countries (South Africa, Rhodesia) ruined by the pestilence, violence, stupidity and dysfunction that accompanies blacks WHEREVER THEY GO.
It amazes me that the people that hang out in Westport simply ignore how dangerous it is, they’ve accepted it and apparently are willing to risk it. How does a persons mind convince itself that even though there’s a high risk of being shot, raped, robbbed or murdered accept it? None of this behavior should be acceptable anywhere but yet down there it is, why?
ReplyDelete10:38 don’t forget the gays, lesbians, Anita, liberals and progressives, they are violent too.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to get syphilis, date a skank you met in Westport.
ReplyDeleteSister in law was in from IA a couple of weeks ago for a "girls" trip. The five of them had dinner and a couple of drinks somewhere in Westport and started to walk back to the Embassy Suites. KCPD stopped them and after learning where they were headed and the intended route an officer escorted them back. As they thanked him and said goodby they noted he was taking the "long" way back, so they called after him and inquired. He replied "I am not walking back that way alone" The sun had just set, he was armed.
ReplyDeleteHey, on a more positive note, here is a report from the UN, which kinda makes me think that Westport isn't so bad after all...
ReplyDelete"UN human-rights experts—not that we trust them, nor that we even necessarily believe in or support human rights—have released a 126-page report detailing the grisly atrocities perpetrated between government forces and rebels in the Congo starting in late 2016.
You think Roots was bad? Listen to this:
• Young boys were forced to rape their mothers (which assumes they had to be forced)
• Soldiers ate victims’ flesh AS they died, not after they died
• Soldiers “sported female genitals as medals”
• Penises were cut from living men
• Little girls were convinced that witchcraft would enable them to catch bullets without harm
• Lots of blood-drinking
• 186 men and boys from one village were decapitated in one fell swoop
Suddenly there isn’t a single ghetto in America that doesn’t look good."
See ya at Kelly's.
Right on
DeleteWait, what? It's not really like Wakanda or Zamunda?
DeleteThere is no place safe in KC after dark and a few that aren’t safe even during the day. This mayor and council should be held accountable but as usual, in a Democrat City, nothing will be done, but God help the white man that shoots a black intruder, then the powers of the city are in full view.
ReplyDeleteThis blog post is literally a knee jerk reaction and doesn't realize it's projecting. I feel safe in westport and even safer with it privately owned. It's going to be a dangerous shit hole no matter who's in charge
ReplyDelete10:56 feels safe in a shit hole no matter who is in charge?
DeleteSince they said yesterday it wasn't ready and not in place, you either can't read or are brain damaged, Tony.
ReplyDeleteAccording to a reputable source, "The new measures, which are expected to include metal detectors, are not in place yet because the privatization hasn't been completed, said Kim Kimbrough, executive director of the Westport Regional Business League.
"We're still chasing the requirements that the city has placed upon us, the most onerous of which is that we have 22 adjoining property owners who have to sign off on this," Kimbrough said on Sunday. "We're almost there, but it's taking an enormous amount of time because of the time of the year in which we were given these requirements."
I never go to Westport. Used to be that the owner and bar tenders had baseball bats behind the bar and they demanded respect. NO MORE
ReplyDeleteI stopped going to Westport a couple years ago after seeing a car pull up near the parking garage and fire off a full clip. That was enough me.
ReplyDeleteLast time I went to Westport is when the old Harris House was there.
ReplyDeleteIt's been THAT LONG. That was the last time Westport was 'safe.'
Fuck Westport and the Plaza. White people have no business being in either place after dark until we get an actual police force in KC.
I feel safe as long as I don’t fuck one of the fat diseased bar whores, let alone eat one.
ReplyDeleteWestport, Power and Light and the Plaza need street signs that say, warning enter at your own risk after dark.
ReplyDeleteEnter at your own risk because of darkies is what that should say!!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to today's episode of 'Pass The Buck" starring....
ReplyDeleteWestport was "sketchy" and somewhat dangerous in the late 80s and early-mid 90s when I used to frequent the area.
ReplyDeleteI was talking to an older woman the other day who frequented Westport in the mid-late 70s and she said even then it was not entirely safe.
It's Westport. Either you have a sack or guts to visit or you don't. It's that simple. If you don't, stay home in Possom Farts, or wherever and shut up about it.
Accept violent crime snd stop complaining! How dare any of you weaklings want a reasonably safe night out! If you're not ready to take a bullet you don't have a 'sack!'
Delete1:16 that’s degenerate thinking of complacency. Yes Westport has always been sketchy but these days people are getting brazenly shot up by a bunch of homegrown Jackson county dummies.
DeleteSpeaking of Jackson county has anyone heard if the rape problem is getting under control in the county jail?
Yes the rape problem is under control. The inmates have control.
DeleteThis is what happens when City has too many fireman and not enough policemen on the street.
ReplyDeleteSaw a black bouncer on the news this morning saying he has a police escort to his car after work. Pretty much says it all.
ReplyDeleteStay home, pussies.
ReplyDeleteYou are why Buffalo Wild Wings was invented. Go to BWW, where you belong.
@ 2:02 is just the troll who hates on everyone who posts on Tony's.
ReplyDeleteHasn't been able to climb the stairs out of Mommy's basement in a decade, but he wants to talk like he goes outside.
I wish they'd open a Buffalo Wild Wings in Possom Farts. Golly, that'd be a treat! I like tossing back a few with fellow people like myself. We can talk about the good ole days before such a thing as lady bosses existed, when token black or two in a company was all you needed.
ReplyDeleteYou'll find your views antiquated in Diversity City, I'm afraid. You're not even allowed to cite real crime statistics unless you want to be considered racist. You see, we would much rather bicker about pronouns and complain of colonial responsibility than engage in real problem solving.
DeleteBut that's the ways of folks in Diversity City! We're far more modern and sensible than you.
I walked up there last night. Buzzard has a beer and shot special on Sunday. Damn my head hurts.
ReplyDeleteI would feel safe in a gunfight vs any punk retarded hood rat. The problem is when some punk hood rat just starts shooting with a full clip. They rarely hit what they are aiming at but in a crowd their chances of hitting someone, anyone, are good.
ReplyDeleteNobody 'promised' anything other than an effort to address crime in Westport. No crime control effort is 100% effective anywhere else.
ReplyDelete12-gauge Crime Control is pretty damn near 100%!
ReplyDeleteAll we need to do is grab a shotgun anytime a hoodrat crawls out of the sewer.
But he was SCARED!
ReplyDeleteHe only carried the gun for Protection!
He was turning his life around!
He walked his Memaw to Church once!
(Dindoo Nuffin strikes again!)
Close the fucking bars at 9 pm. Public nuisance.
ReplyDelete^^^^ +1 on that. Westport is scamming Kansas City and they want to takeover the streets. That's stupid, they obviously don't know what they're doing down there and they need KC to bail them out. Damn shame.
ReplyDeletebottom line the private security sucks down there hahahaha, cheesely brown is a joke as it is, just saying.
ReplyDeleteShut all bars in town down at midnight, except for those in the "18th & Vine District", leave those open until 4:00am, re-opening at 6:00am!
ReplyDeleteThen, in that two hour window each morning, the Bar owners in the District can have their crews drag the trash to the curb.
At about 5:30am the City can send trucks through to load up the dead bodies, which are then hauled to a specially built Crematorium, burned, and the ashes disposed of in a landfill.
If any of the bodies can be identified, and if any family can be located, a form letter can be sent to the next of kin telling them what has happened to their "Loved One".
^^^^ Stupid. From an idiot with a weak mind.
ReplyDeleteI support westport. It's a KC treasure! Keep it real!
