Drivers wait hours for simple license renewals at Kansas Department of Revenue offices

Kansas drivers are being pushed to their boiling points because of long lines and hours-long waits at licensing offices. People in Johnson County's office in Olathe reported waiting in line for several hours, even after they registered online.

  2. But taxes are low! And government is small!! So that's a good thing, right?

  3. Bet they do not complain when they wait in line for tickets to sporting events. Word on the street is many have camped overnight to get sporting tickets or be the first one in the store on Black Friday.

  6. You don't go to the license bureau to get in line.
You use the Q app, BEFORE you go there.
it tells you how long the wait is,
it texts you about 25 min. in advance when you're getting close,
it even allows you to extend your time/place in line then if you're busy doing something else.

And, as long as you started in the Q, the staff stays LATE to clear the Q, AFTER regular business hours.

It's the greatest thing since ketchup.

    Lines are for dummies.
Find it on the joco web site.

    No ad hominem attacks.

If you're not from Joco, by your reasoning, why should you be "allowed" to comment on this story.

  10. Tracy is right. I used the q myself in June. The line for DMV or wait I should say was 4 hours long. I was able to wash my car, go to lunch, and run other errands while being able to text and check in easily how long my wait was. People are just stupid. When I sat in the DMV and just looked around me I felt surrounded by weirdos without a clue. There were also a large number of Hispanics it kind of felt like Wyandotte County in a way.

    1. Johnson County residents just have higher expectations. For example, when we call 911, someone actually answers. Pretty cool, huh?

  13. Governor Kobach will fix it, eliminate all computer access and close 75% of the offices, that's the way you control "Drivers License Fraud"!

If you don't want to wait in line, just mail a $200 check to the Governor's Office, made payable to the "Kobach 2024 Presidential Campaign Fund", and get a driver's license or license renewal by return mail.

  14. 2"09, a classic case here if ignorance of the facts.

There is a difference between licensing one's car, and having a drivers license. You reference "Drivers License Fraud". Do you mean Car Tag Fraud???

In Ks, unlike Mo, illegal aliens--aka non-citizens, can no longer receive a drivers license. At all. That's been the case for about 7 years. So now, they drive their cars without a drivers license. They often have a Mexican ID card.

Which is why in a traffic collision or accident or incident, we now have many more cases of hit and run. They drive off, rather than be arrested. They do drive very cautiously and defensively because of this.

So one goes to a different office to license the MOTOR VEHICLE. Illegals do register their CARS and pay property taxes on those, in Ks. I am told they purchase car insurance from companies including Progressive--which charges illegal aliens much MORE for the equivalent level of insurance...

If you've been watching The Affair, on Showtime, the Equadorian non-citizen wife, Luisa, of Clay, gets stopped by a cop in Montauk and fears deportation.
