Right-to-work foes raise millions more than opponents

The group fighting a ballot measure that would make Missouri a right-to-work state has outraised its opponents by more than $4 million. The fundraising totals, released this week by the Missouri Ethics Commission, show a large financial advantage for We Are Missouri, a group opposed to banning mandatory union fees in workplaces.

  1. As a long time student of politics I have tried to understand the effect of the right to work bill on your every day worker. Still clear as mud, so I am leaning towards leave it alone. Vote No.

  3. @ 6:23, one effect in every State that has adopted it has been a severe decline in workers wages, in the 30-50% range.

  8. While Right to Work does weaken Unions, there it does impact workers whether you work for a Union or not. When there is a group of people (Union) negotiating together, they typically get better wages and benefits. Because of this, other companies typically pay better to be competitive to workers.
    In states where Right to Work is in place (MO as of last year), workers tend to make nearly $9,000 less in salary and benefits (Union or not).
    I realize that Unions do have some down-sides, but in this case, I'm for it and am voting NO.
