COMING SOON!!! THE KANSAS CITY SAUSAGE FEST FOR VP PENCE: TASTELESS PROTEST OR SMART PROMO?!?!
Vice Prez Mike Pence is visiting Kansas City tomorrow to promote Prez Trump's tax plan and help 3rd District Rep. Yoder raise funds for the upcoming midterm election.
By far, the following event notice is the most important and probably the most clever local "counter-protest" we've seen which was celebrated today among the more "progressive" denizens of the local Internets who probably didn't realize that it's mostly just marketing for a struggling radio station . . .
(Some members of) The LGBTQ community in Kansas City and radio station 96.5 The Buzz are throwing a picnic of sorts for Vice President Mike Pence when he visits Kansas City to fundraise for Kansas Republican Congressman Kevin Yoder.
The station is calling it a "Mike Pence Sausage Fest."
Announced on Twitter, the station’s invitation to the event included a picture of Pence, with a sausage on a fork and a multi-colored flag behind him, representing the gay community.
The station tweeted, “Pence is not fan of the LGBTQ community and we’re no fan of his.”
The group argues the vice president encourages discrimination against their community and issues like spending government money on programs for conversion therapy, something Pence has denied, calling it "Fake News."
The event is scheduled to begin at about 11 a.m. and is being held at Barney Allis Plaza, with the promise of free hot dogs, while supplies last.
And so we ask . . .
IS THE BUZZ PLAYING KANSAS CITY PROGRESSIVES WITH A CHEAP MARKETING GIMMICK?!?
So far, there's really not much of a push for advocacy, voting or even attendees information on the issues at hand. Look at the event notice closely and it's mostly brand ID for the station and their corporate music playlist.
Whilst vulgarity has the respect of the TKC blog community . . . Mockery without some kind of point is essentially limp.
