TKC MUST READ!!! THE CALL REPORTS KANSAS CITY 18TH & VINE DISTRICT CRISIS: BEU VS. LINCOLN BUILDING OWNER!!!

For those who haven't seen it yet, we want to highlight STELLAR COMMUNITY REPORTING from The Call regarding an ongoing beef in the heart of Kansas City's jazz district.

Here's an online preview of the EXCEPTIONAL work by Mr. Eric Wesson . . .

The Call: Money, Lies And BEU

It really is worth picking up an issue to get the full story.

However . . .

TKC BLOG COMMUNITY SHARES SOME HIGHLIGHTS AND A RESPONSE FROM ATTORNEY HENRY SERVICE!!!

In an e-mail addressing the situation, attorney Henry Service lamented the troubles of the Black Economic Union of Greater Kansas City along with "many disturbing things about what appears to be unseemly behavior of other BEU officials, including improper governance, operations, and management of this historic organization."

Moreover . . .

Mr. Service: "It is perhaps worse to have to confirm to you that I indeed have been subjected to veiled threats and physical violence, from people insisting that I sell the Lincoln Building back to the BEU."

And so . . .

THIS LINCOLN BUILDING BEEF IN THE HISTORIC 18TH & VINE JAZZ DISTRICT IS REACHING THE BOILING POINT!!!

There are two Council members running  for Mayor in the 3rd District who have been mum on this topic so far but it's clear that mediation and more attention directed toward solving the crisis needs to be engaged as KCMO's investment of more than $100-million in this part of town is once again at risk because of in-fighting.

  1. Yes, this one needs to be resolved quickly. You can't expect the district to be successful if somebody who comes in making an investment is now subject to threats.

  2. It's just more of the same tiresome old thing and a big part of what has made the 18th and Vine district the failure that it is.
Everybody wants to be the top dog and tell everyone else what to do.
Every four people have their own "organization" and refuse to cooperate or collaborate with anyone else.
Nobody has any expertise, experience, or training of how to identify what needs to be done and how to do it.
And EVERYONE wants in on the "funding", which invariably comes from the taxpayers and is provided without any performance standards, oversight, or accountability by the cowardly electeds.
Anyone want to guess how the special city-wide sales tax which will all be spent on the east side is going to go?
Millions of dollars converted into thin air.

  11. I would take more strays in to KC Spay & Neuter but they chop nearly 1/3 of the ear off. They said they "tip" the ear but it took well over a month for the scab to heal and traumatized the abandoned cat. I'm forced to pay the full 74.00 or just not get rabies vaccination or worming medication. KC Spay & Neuter tells me "this is so we don't trap the same cat twice?" I told them "I'm the only one who traps cats out at this end of the city and I know which ones are fixed because nobody else is going to come out here and trap these cats and bring them in?" Does anyone thing the City, County or State is going to fund Spay & Neuter to the level it needs to be done?

  12. ^^^Just tell them they’re doing it for the blacks and more money than you can shake a stick at will show up!

  13. BEU wanting something for nothing.

  14. We should give it another chance. To this point anyone who has had anything to do with it has been a thief or retard or both. There is no way I would let them have another penny if any black person is involved with it.

  15. I thought when I paid (what I considered sufficient) money to adopt (save) a cat, I was doing a good thing. But this shitty never passes up an opportunity to shove their hand in the taxpayer's pocket. You will receive letters and veiled threats to license your (rescued) feline, even if it is an indoor kitty. Cat died of cancer. Will likely adopt another one, but not from KC.

  16. I've not noticed anything Mr. Wesson has ever written to be outstanding. But what is outstanding is the way he complains about City Hall and City government while helping himself to a nice City contract, enriching himself by thousands of dollars for "interesting" work of questionable substance and of little value to the taxpayers.

  17. Mr. Wesson did a good job here, we need to pay attention to this dispute because it's contributes to the overall stagnation of the district.
