KANSAS CITY STAR STAYS LOSING HOOPZ!!! PROGRESSIVE PUNDIT JENEÉ OSTERHELDT LEAVING FOR BOSTON GLOBE!!!

There's a write-up in the newspaper today but nobody reads that dead-tree garbage so instead we'll go with a much more important Twitter mention:

Washington Bureau Chief at The Boston Globe Christopher Rowland recently sent his congratulations to Hoopz on her new gig and the local pundit accepted his online kindness . . .

A few topics of consideration . . .

- Will Hoopz suffer the "Superman" effect on the East Coast - In KCMO she's a trendsetter but there are plenty of "progressives" in Boston and her typical DNC & social justice talking points might not seem so provocative.

- Still, she was one of the few interesting pundits for The Star if only because her train wreck columns inspired so much ire in partisans from the other side of the aisle.

- Given increased layoffs at The Kansas City Star - Are we now watching workers abandoning the sinking ship???

Of course, we talked this topic FIRST over the weekend and now we offer newshounds a second look at how the discourse is taking shape amid the decline of newspapers.

Update:

Kansas City, I love you, but it's time for me to move on

You decide . . .

    1. Her columns were floundering her. This is actually good news for the Star. Glad they could shed some of the dead weight, maybe now they can put it into their reporting.

  2. Great, now we can look forward to a bunch of nasty comments from the old newspaper hacks who are still out of a job or the scared scribes fearing for their own necks. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad and they didn't spend most of their day on Tony's blog.

  3. Oh, no! How will they ever replace her? Doesn’t matter, I’m not reading the trash Star anyway.

  5. Good riddance, she really is terrible at this job, Boston will crucify her and when they do she will come crawling back just like she did before, unfortunately we probably haven’t seen the last of her

  6. Bostonians won’t put up with her crap, she better learn a new trade

    ReplyDelete
  7. She'll find that even Boston isn't mindlessly liberal enough to buy into her one-sided take on issues and folks in the east coast big town have never heard of "Kansas City nice".
Also Boston has gotten a real handle on violence and homicides in their community, and they've done it by actually addressing the source of the problem and have focused on those parts of town where most of the problems take place.
Not exactly Hoopz' cup of tea.
What's been an outsized frog in a very little KC pond is about to find out what swimming in the ocean is all about.
Still, her departure can only be good for what passes for public debate here.

  8. The mandarins at the K.C.Star are now scrambling frenetically to find a Pulitzer worthy Race Baiter, who, in spite of the unambiguated evidence of wildly disproportionate black criminality, can shift blame on to whites, who in spite of the unambiguated evidence of an ongoing intifada of black on white hate crimes, will wait like a black widow spider for any real or imagined (Most are "Race Hoaxes".) transgressions by even one half of a white guy (Poor Geroge Zimmerman.) and who will continue to perpetuate the ongoing "Racism" narrative as it collapses daily, right in front of our lying eyes.

Oh..., that's right, they could replace her in about 30 seconds with the mail room guy.

    Never mind.

The Boston Globe has a different agenda than the Kansas City Star. The owner has successful, profitable businesses outside of the paper.

Let's see how her "voice" changes with a new boss and paper. I remember reading Shelly in the Pottstown newspaper before she wrote for the Star. Completely different "voice".

The Star isn't a newspaper as much as a cash cow for the group that owns it.

  17. She s responsible for more murders than Chief Forte.

  18. Hoopz claimed that she learned how to write in KC. Unfortunately, she never learned how to think.

  20. KCStar Help Wanted Columnist

Do you have absolutely no talent or skill?

    Do You hate white prople?

Has a major newspaper run you off?

If so, The Kansas City Star can use a columnist as worthless as you, please apply!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh no! What will all these pants-shitting goons complain about now? Don't worry, you'll find something. I feel bad for Tony. One less troll column for the weak-minded.

  22. Now you know what Hoopz was really doing during her year at Harvard. Making contacts in the Boston area for a new job.

I bet I know exactly how it went.

She identified her potential victims in advance.
She contacted them, identified herself as a Neiman Scholar participant who was seeking their advice and comments for her research project.
If receptive, Hoopz repeated her "poor little black girl life story of victimhood" to elicit sympathy from her target.
Stays in touch with her targets, writes little cutesy thank you notes, and heaps on the flattery of how she wants to be mentored by them.

She knew her time at the Star was limited before she ever went to Harvard. In fact, the whole Harvard program was specifically designed to transition her out of the Star by the woman who'd been watching her back here.

  23. ^^Wow. You spent entirely too much time speculation about someone who wouldn't know you from Adam. What's it like to have no life of your own? I can't imagine worrying about someone else I wasn't related to. Do you EVEN have a life loser? Maybe go outside. You seem really pathetic.

  29. I'm glad she's leaving because I don't think she's a good writer or a positive influence at the star because she only causes division, not love. However, I have been friends with her for many years and she is incredibly nice and I like her as a person. I know this sounds contradictory but we just have different viewpoints.

  32. No it wasn't time for Jenee to move on, she had to move on because she knew her head was about to be placed on the chopping block. You can't be the owner of a newspaper and not come to the conclusion Jenee was killing your paper and running the readers with money off. Mary needs to be next and the Star needs to get back to reporting the factual news and stop trying to create the news.

    1. I think it's too late for the star. Print media has already been shrinking for years. Star made a gamble to swing bigtime prog and it backfired, hastening their fall to insolvency. Too late to get back to actual reporting now.

  33. Are you kidding, she'll be smack-dab in the middle of her element -- she'll thrive.

And ... The Globe is much more prestigious than The Star.

  34. "...watching her back here." Star employee?

    ReplyDelete
  35. She maybe going to Boston but she won't have the notoriety she had in Kansas City. Even my wife thinks she is hauling ass ahead of a pink slip party. So she is headed east going to work at a place where she will be very low on the totem pole with zero seniority. She will have to earn her money now and it won't be easy street like she had in KC. I give her a year tops before she is out the door.

    ReplyDelete
  36. She'll make a great waitress at a lobster restaurant, fully trained by New Years.

  46. Basement boy, here's your chance to up your (stupid) game. Hoopszzz would probably let you live in her basement and support her on local Boston blogs. She wouldn't have to worry about your sexual proclivities being the pussy you are. Now call her and have your mother help you rent a Uhaul. Bye.

  47. Don't let the door hit your butt on the way out.

  48. "Sinking Ship"? IT done sunk the workers have been treading water for three years. They only hire writers never newspersons and definitely not journalists. Jenee was a terrible writer and had a very convoluted opinion on everything.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Quite likely the most popular KC exit since Charles O. Finley.

    ReplyDelete
  50. JO was a horrendous writer and an even worse thinker. She will shrivel and blow away in Boston, but at least she won't be here polluting the pages of The Star. With any luck, they'll replace her with a thoughtful writer.

    ReplyDelete
  51. The fame she created writing that infamous “fan” mail letter probably help land this job letter. In any event KC wins, good riddance race baiter!
