NEWSFLASH!!! PITCH DUMPS KANSAS CITY STAR PRICEY PRINTING PRESS!!!

Here's an important journalism note because there are far too many hangers-on offering social media "insight" about the newspaper that mostly just regurgitates boring Sunday stories.

Social media slap-fighting is much more entertaining.

And so . . .

The significance of this announcement is going mostly unnoticed:

"The Pitch is moving even more local! We're excited to announce we are now printing in Lawrence with @allenpressinc. Starting with our June issue, we'll be KC-area run, KC-area printed, and KC-area read."

Now, our newsie insider friends remind us that The Pitch printed at The Kansas City Star facility not so long ago before their recent stint at a St. Joe facility. The relationship was always weird because local "journalists" not only bad mouthed each other but also worked one another for information out of "professional" courtesy.

And now, the love/hate relationship is finally complete.

The Pitch literally moves toward greener pastures which make more sense with its limited print-run and yet another Downtown company abandons the so-called Kansas City paper of record.

Money line:

By raising prices and lowering quality, a stagnant business can rely on its most loyal customers to continue to buy the product, allowing it to squeeze and squeeze and squeeze its customers as they croak. This slow liquidation of an asset’s value, destroying even its reputation in the process, kills the product. Wherever newspapers can be found reducing page size, cutting news pages, narrowing coverage area, reducing staff, shrinking circulation area, postponing the purchase of new equipment and raising subscription prices, they are harvesting market position.

  1. Oh no, now the WILDMAN is going go off again about his job that everybody forgot. Same with the other one too.

    They love comments.

    They think they look smart.

It's always fun. They are good at fixing typos but never were much for reporting no matter how much they try to fool themselves and everyone else.

  2. I don't think changing printers says anything other than they found a less expensive printer. Could be a smart business move. Printing costs continue to go up, paper costs go up, etc., and if they can save 10 or 15% over a year that could be thousands or tens of thousands of dollars. Switching printers in this climate isn't all that unusual.

  3. Besides, I haven't seen a print copy of The Pitch in some time, but it's also possible the KC Star printer was no longer necessary. Their print needs could now be simpler with fewer pages or sizing, etc.

  4. Good Honest Reporting will always have reader's .AND there are many alternative. Publications.news the Main stream media will not report. If America New how they were being Buffaloed .there would be a uproar.

  5. Your "facts" are uncoordinated.

So your insiders weren't even aware The Pitch was being printed in St. Joseph the last two years or so because they couldn't pay their bills with The Star anymore?

    No?

    Some insiders.

  9. So what did we learn from this shit?

Newspaper people pay WAAAAAY to much attention to TKC instead of doing their job.

That's a shame, I wish some of the people who worked at the newspaper weren't so petty.

  10. KC STAR Sucks and has every since they made their paper 1/2 the size it used to be back in like 2001/2001

The best days were back in the 1960's & 1970's & 80's, when it was actually a full size news paper that you could actually read without having to use a magnifying glass !!!!
