Applebee's sues over closure of Independence restaurant in profiling case
Applebee's is suing a Kansas City area franchise owner over the closure of a restaurant where two black women said they were falsely accused of not paying for meals in an earlier visit. The Kansas City Star reported that the chain claimed "significant brand and reputational damage" from the "controversial and high-profile circumstances of the closure" of the restaurant at the Independence Center Mall.

Kansas City-based Applebee's is now 100 percent franchisee-owned.
On Wednesday, Applebee's parent DineEquity Inc. sold off its remaining 23 corporate-owned locations — which accounts for all the restaurants in the Kansas City area — to American Franchise Capital LLC. Financial details were not disclosed.

ReplyDeleteFar as I am concerned Applebees needs to sue themselves for the low quality food they serve along with the outrageous sound levels they think their music should be played in their joints.
ReplyDeleteApplebees was in trouble business wise long before that altercation in Independence. Corp is just using that as an excuse to blame what was been taking place all along.
Independence location had too much hood in the neighborhood.
