DESPICABLE STREETCAR EXTENSION SUPPORTERS DOWNPLAY KANSAS CITY MURDER RATE AND MIDTOWN VIOLENCE!!!

Once and for all the supporters of the Kansas City streetcar extension have lost any semblance of decency and given up the moral high ground in order to push their selfish agenda.

It wasn't enough that the streetcar was founded on voter suppression in what the leader of the Kansas City Public Library called "the most corrupt election in Kansas City since the Pendergast era."

The project continues to move forward with a questionable, gerrymandered, private, mail-in ballot despite citywide demand to include all KCMO voters in future decisions.

But it's understandable that procedural voting concerns aren't at the forefront of the public discourse in much the same way that gerrymandering remains an issue across the nation.

However, the latest unforgivable tactic from streetcar supporters is nearly sociopath in its scope:

TOY TRAIN PROPONENTS HAVE DOWNPLAYED THE CURRENT KCMO HOMICIDE SPIKE AND RECENT VIOLENCE THROUGHOUT MIDTOWN IN A GREEDY QUEST FOR EXPANSION!!!

As we noted previously, Council Lady Jolie Justus trolling Bill Nigro is just one example of streetcar enthusiast push back that overlooks the recent spate of Midtown murder. It turns out that many snarky Twitter pundits are quick to tout their walking adventures in response to safety concerns but seem to have already forgotten Zach Pearce who was gunned down walking home from Westport after having a few drinks and completely cooperating with gunman who had targeted him for death.

Others believe that the increased traffic of streetcar expansion might reduce violence.

But Ta'Ron Carson was waiting at one of the busiest bus stops in Kansas City right on the proposed streetcar expansion line when he was shot and killed by a heavily armed hit squad.

Closer to the heart of Westport the rhetoric of the transit, hipster, urban planner crowd becomes increasingly absurd.

There's still grousing from activist consultants about street privatization like it's Prez Trump's Border Wall but these same critics didn't offer any viable solutions regarding public safety when off-duty police officer Thomas Orr was murdered at point black range in the heart of Westport last Summer and the danger of gun violence obviously threatened late-night party-goers in the immediate aftermath of a historic slaughter in Las Vegas.

Accordingly . . .

Calling out the misstatements and paternalistic language of Westport leader Bill Nigro when he worries about "women walking at night" in the urban core is fun but it turns out he's 100% correct in his concern for public safety in Westport. By contrast, streetcar extension supporters have willfully ignored the spate of Midtown killing and historic uptick in Kansas City homicide in order to advance their agenda.

More to the point . . .

THIS WEEK THE EGOTISTICAL STREETCAR EXTENSION SUPPORTERS HAVE PROVEN THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO SYMPATHY FOR THE CURRENT KANSAS CITY MURDER SPIKE AND NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THEN THEIR PRECIOUS TOY TRAIN CHOO-CHOO!!!

What's worse is that the influence of these maniacal rail transit cheerleaders endangers so many others who might follow their lead and ignore the real life danger of urban core streets at night. Moreover, the casual and callous way they've overlooked so many recent murders near Westport along the proposed toy train line reveals that Kansas City streetcar support is nothing less than a tragic character flaw or, more likely, a brazen money grab that ignores the sanctity of human life.

Either way, what we know for sure is this -- Just like so many Downtown luxury living space developers and the current Mayoral administration -- Toy train proponents are more than willing to diminish, mock, troll anyone with public safety concerns rather than engage in an honest debate on a topic that should be at the forefront of Kansas City's agenda.

You decide . . .

the streetcar isn't about safety, it's an economic engine!

Frankly, I don't think even most westport owners want to put the names and faces of people who have been murdered out there. Makes it too real. The murder count is easy to talk about in the abstract but when we see the people have have been gun down in around westport, it's sobering. Which is always bad for Westport business.

the streetcar vote is the biggest problem, overlooking a city wide election is dangerous business for any mayoral administration and it courts disaster for KC and City Hall.

personally, I blame the schools and Missouri for allowing this kind of TDD nonsense. Looking forward to it being overruled soon or at least putting some limits on local tax increases like the TDD.

sLIE is bad for all of kcmo business and human life in general, he doesn’t give a damn about anybody but himself, yup, me number 1!!!

What’s Jolie justus stance on hate crimes or murder in general?

She doesn’t have one.

Think about that when you vote.

Why should THE streetcar "activists" be any more concerned about homicides in the city than any other insider special interest group sucking money out of the public till?
The city government doesn't care about public safety, the condition of streets and sidewalks, utility costs for residents, or much of anything else that has to do with actual municipal services.
They're all about shiny toys, campaign contributions, subsidizing "developers", pandering to grifters, and pretty much ANYTHING other than boring 'ole city governance.
Streetcars, hotels, tech toys, jazz museums, the list goes on and on.
Accompanied by ever-increasing water/sewer bills, sales taxes, inappropriate funds transfers, and on and on.
Johnson and the streetcar crowd is just one in the endless line.
The residents, local small businesses, and taxpayers come last.

What does one expect from Slie and his political machine? Slie only cares about votes and nothing else. The high crime rate, storm sewer fiasco, failing infrastructure and too many more to list mean nothing to him. Slie and Troy will use the go bond and other money for whatever they want and not for what voters approved. All they show is total disregard of the voters and think they know better than the voters. The only vote Slie thinks is correct is the one that elected him mayor.

Guess KCMO will have to live with their failed mayor.

All the current mayoral candidates are spitting images of sLIE, think about that when you cast your vote for mayor. Not one of them has a stance on murder or spending our taxes wisely. They’re only in it for themselves.

sLIE, think on your sins.

The "Toy Train" is a metaphor for most Progressive Policy Initiatives across the nation.

The opinions and will of the electorate comes in a distant second to real time, boots on the ground effect these policies have on every day folks.

Legerdemain, obfuscation, deception and demagoguery is the rhetorical grease lubricating the wheels of machines that are created to protect sinecure, insure cash flow and elevate elites into every more tax payer funded power.

There is no 4th wall separating the actor/politicians from the audience/citizens in this repetitive, one act play, which guarantees, over and over again, a Deus Ex Machina that rescues, right here, right before your eyes, ill advised, economically unsound, pernicious policies, developments and legislation for insiders at the expense of outsiders.

What is separated, is your tax dollars from your wallet, your safety from your person and your future from your family, while you continue to pay higher water bills, suffer the loss of friends in violent crime and desair at the complacency of the 4th estate in the face of the facts.

Here in KC, as in City Halls all across the nation, State Governments and in Washington DC, can no longer hope the occasional good steward appears to shepherd our resources into that which does the most good, for the greatest percentage of the electorate. Our city, our nation, crippled by the Progressive, Politically Correct Star Chamber mentality, that crucifies apostates (Read: any who oppose Social Justice Soup De jour ideas and thought.) is fatally infected with a Social Justice "Stockholm Syndrome" that prevents reasonable discussion, suppresses relative facts and destroys all who would speak truth to the new Progressive power brokers, who control the megaphone.

The "Toy Train" will expand.

Your water bills will go up.

Your politicians will go to Poland.

Our murder rate is a positive. Since the police won't arrest anyone and Jean Petersucker Baker in not interested in prosecuting murderers, hood rat killing hood rat is the only way we have of getting murderers off the street. Jean Petersucker Baker is worthless.

So what's your take? Back up your slam on chuck! It's real easy for you to call someone an idiot but you have no argument, so what's that make you!

IDK, maybe with the streetcar extension comes an increase in security, foot traffic in and around the stops, more businesses opening up, etc. All this may lead to a safer experience. Why does mass transit work in Europe and other major US cities but it can't work here? And before you go with the "the route is useless" argument, the route has to start somewhere. Denver's light rail was considered a joke when it first started, now the citizens there can't get enough of it and it's expanding like crazy.

Good points. But, if you have been to Denver, the the city is laid out so very different. Much bigger in terms of density. Denver does work, KC is nothing like Denver, in that it is a commuter town, the 4th largest by area in the US.

Subways in New York and the "L" in Chicongo make sense.

At some point, with increased population and density, maybe it will make sense, then, is when it should be effected.

Anonymous said...

Lots of reasons, starting with the fact that it's been pushed on the voters with total dishonesty, and is yet another of the many money pit 'initiatives' that have absolutely no revenue stream.

DeBergerac said...

@ 8:18 has a point, but I feel that there is a simpler action that could and should be made prior to any major expansion of the Streetcar System that would serve a proof positive of the Streetcar's benefit to the City.

Right now the Streetcar (northbound) makes a right turn (westbound) at 5th and Grand to continue its loop.

If we were to extend the tracks due North for seven blocks, then load the Streetcar with the Mayor, the entire City Council and the City Manager for the extension's inaugural run, we could easily demonstrate the benefits that the Streetcar can provide to us all.

excellent point.

The streetcar needs to start proving it's worth beyond an employment program for Sly's supporters!

The streetcar raped me.

^^^^ So what, MeThree, the Streetcar raped every KC Taxpayer!

8:18 - I do get the timing angle, and one of the biggest 'issues' is the state line layout of the metro area. As a Johnson County guy, I'd be all for paying to have the streetcar extend over on the other side of the state line. Let's face it though, I don't think the majority of the tightasses out here would support it.

Denver is not a 'dense' city, per se. The sprawl there is just as bad if not worse than it is here. But the park and ride set up is really cool. For most areas, taking your car to a lot and hopping on the light rail is an option.

As for timing, when is the right time? Sometimes you have to get ahead of an issue before it becomes and issue. As a loose comparison, try adding more lanes to I-35 now. What supported 4 total lanes when initially built now needs 8, but there's no room for 8. A stretch of an example with streetcar for sure but just trying to make a point.

All I got to say is if the idiots have to build the damb train make it bullet proof.

Anonymous said...

Eh. At least you're trying to make some kind of case. But the reality is that our city cannot walk and chew gum at the same time, and we have escalating crime and infrastructure issues that should have our attention.

Never mind the fact that, urban futurism aside, this little boutique rail project has been yet another in a long line of money pits presided over by a clownish mayor and his cronies.

Also, Davie Johnson's cheerleading aside, voters don't want it and have been clear about it.

everyone bitches but come voting time people still vote for the taxes and street cars and getting raped by the water dept.

If you could keep the negroes east of Troost, safety wouldn't be an issue with the 4 block walk.

Anonymous said...

^^^ Build a 14 foot heavy gauge fence just west of Troost with razor wire on top, patrolled by occasional police and guard dogs to keep them on that side of fence.

The crime rate will drop on the western side I guarantee.

Anonymous said...

The only reason I drive on Troost is to go to Niece's Restaurant. Damn, one of the best eats places in the city.

Anonymous said...

The toy train is a piece of shit and people may argue about the routes, but that isn't the problem. We have a negro problem and nobody want to admit it.

Anonymous said...

By now, it should be clear that personal safety is just that, it depends on oneself to be safe, and the police cannot keep you safe ever. A properly armed person can generally walk any 4 blocks safely at any time. Remember, the blacks favor that sideways thug grip that is very inaccurate, because they think it looks cool. A calm trained shooter will easily win a gunfight with most black hood rats.

Anonymous said...

@10:59 Do not forget to include the demilitarized zone by your fence and it will be shoot on sight when anybody is in it.

The rapes in midtown are not widely reported like murders. It gets real rapey during bar times, but it's the quiet times where you're most likely to pulled into the bushes and assfucked.

Speaking of violence, we still see news chopper above where an armed carjacked lowlife was arrested in the west Dotte near I70 and 78th Street! Ch 5 had live vid of it from the air. Gawd, I hope our public servants put the hurts to the horrible crimmie carjacking shitstain! Mowers and tree trimmers were going, but I may have heard gunfire here during the pursuit. But, we here backfire from cars, and the delivery trucks at QuikTrip bang their plates and rollers on the parking lot at times.

HEY, STAY LOCKED AND LOADED LIKE A BIG DOG IN THE DOTTE!! said...

^ Oops...carjacker lowlife...hear backfire...

I like the discussion of the streetcar but the real problem is President Trump. He has effectively cut funding for this kind of rail transit. It's a legacy of the Obama era.

KC Rail transit = Tourist attraction / Mobil hobo shelter / Hoodrats escape

Super Dave said...

Rip this thing out of the ground donate it to Worlds of Fun to use in their parking lots. Taxpayers should no longer be strapped with this loser money pit.

Anonymous said...

Is the streetcar always supposed to be free? I can't imagine it being free to ride forever, and as soon as they start charging...even a modest amount like $1 ridership will plummet because even the smallest economic barrier is significant.

I hear a lot of talk about how we have high ridership. Well no shit, it's free for now. The streetcar was one of the biggest mistakes this city. It was hastily put together for people to feel like they live in a New York City sized metropolis. I love KC, but jesus what a mistake.

Start charging for a ride and see what happens.

Anonymous said...

Will the idiots in Kansas City ever stop comparing the streetcar to subways, metro rail or light rail? It's none of those! Those are rapid transit systems that make sense. The streetcar rolls on rails on streets with traffic signals, pedestrians, bicyclists, delivery trucks and buses. It is NOT rapid transit people. It's a fancy bus on rails.

Anonymous said...

A bus is a train that can change routes, technologically an advancement.
