SHAME!!! KANSAS CITY 2018 HOMICIDE #34: WOMAN SHOT DEAD ON THE PASEO!!!

Hours before hundreds of local activists, ministers and politically engaged residents marched together in order to change the name of this Kansas City Boulevard to honor MLK.

And then . . .

"Police say a woman was found shot at around 3:30 a.m. Saturday in the 6900 block of The Paseo.

"Kansas City police responded to an ambulance call at the location. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police."

This is the 34th homicide so far in 2018 compared to 30 at this time last year.

More to the point . . .

POLITICALLY INCORRECT AS IT MIGHT SEEM A QUESTION WE ASK WITH RESPECT FOR RESIDENTS ALONG THIS ROUTE . . .

IS THE MLK RENAME FOR THE PASEO MORE OF A POLITICALLY MOTIVATED POWER GRAB THAT WILL SERVE AS YET ANOTHER KCMO RACIAL DIVIDING LINE AND CHASE AWAY INVESTMENT???

As many have said before, the challenges that confront Kansas City's urban core are more serious than street names. Despite the display of community solidarity and a burgeoning movement for The Paseo name change . . . The local murder aftermath offers an important reminder of far more grave concerns for this boulevard.

You decide . . .

  1. So, looks like there is already progress on the name change.

    Congratulations ministers.

    You've won.

    1. The two issues are not related. There are murders on streets all over Kansas City, the names have very little to do with it.

    2. ^^^ Keep telling yourself that.

  2. Will anything change except the name????? Not a fucking chance.

  3. It's not about politics or race. It's about property values. Show me one street where changing the name has increased the value of homes, businesses or offices and you will have my outright support. What you can see around the nation is that every street with that name has been mired in violence and blight. Now the ministers want to do the same thing to The Paseo just as other communities are starting to build businesses and developments near the area.

The progress is a threat to control, so this group would rather sink property values than deal with the fact that people generally forget history.

It's remarkable how much the ministers are basically declaring war on their own community and encouraging everyone to drink the kool-aid. It would be sad if people didn't so willingly take the orders as if they were coming from God.

  4. It’s motivated by money, these ministers stoke the flames by racebaiting their own flock, get them stirred up in hate and oh by the way, we need more money, these so called men of faith are bleeding their flocks to support there own agendas and life styles. Rev car wash is a prime example

  13. I say Lorenzo Jerome Gilyard, Jr. blvd, he is the single most prolific mass murderer in killa shitty history, he killed 13 women and girls.

Don’t like that one? Coming in at #2 on the mass murderers list is Terry Blair, he killed 9 women and most of his family and let’s not forget his mother too are murderers as well. Another good shiny example for a street to be named after.

#3 would be the serial racist and gay mass murderer Frederick Scott coming in with six murders.

Now there’s some black history for you right there.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 9:38 Shhhhh. We don't talk about that.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 9:48 it’s funny you say that, the black peeps I work with claim they’ve never heard of these people! Ridiculous right! The funny part of all this is with all the black on black murders and the history of black serial mass killers in killa shitty they are scared to death of being caught in a mass shooting by a white guy and they’re not afraid of being shot by blacks in the hood. Anybody could go postal and history suggests that its blacks more so then whites but yet they think completely opposite of the truth.

  16. I HAVE A DREAM.........oh, never mind!

  17. After they change the name to MLK BLVD, there will never be a day that people won't relate crime to a street, that actually still looks pretty cool.

It's a bad, bad fuckin idea and it is counterproductive for all races.

Again, if there are to be name changes of streets on the East Side, the names should reflect the names of the 15 or so victims of Black ON White Hate Crimes just over the last 2 years.

Shame on the black community and black culture for lying and pretending that transubstantiated sins from other eras are more important than the blood of the dead still drying in the streets of white victims of black violence.

Shame the black community with the names of victims of black violence throughout the east side and maybe, just maybe, there will someday be what MLK really said about "Content Of Character".

Humiliate and shame the black community with OUR NAMES NOW ON STREET SIGNS ALL OVER THE CITY!!!

  18. ^^^^ yup, those pesky white republicans strike again! Lol!

  19. Mlk the og black card pulling hustler. The race baiting continues tradition with the baptist afro american pastors out of touch pointing back to civil rites glory while their great grandkids are gender bending smoking canibus popping mdm shooting em up al over town all with a self righteous anti american ethic. Wat a legacy.

  20. I thought that dumb-ass Black panther movie was supposed to inspire negroes to behave. I thought the dumb-ass social workers were supposed to work. Spot shotter? Go ahead and name it MLK, forever identifying it as a street where people who care about safety should never go.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I keep saying it, Benton Blvd needs to be renamed MLK. It is much worse than Paseo.

    ReplyDelete
  22. ^^^The Paseo is more recognizable as a trash, crime ridden black street much like Troost though.

How much will it cost the city to change out all the street signs along it?

    ReplyDelete
  23. She HAD a Dream!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Here is one thing a lot of you are overlooking: The majority of people who actually live on this street want to see it changed.

Let's put it to a vote and you will see this proven correct.

I think a lot of these complaints come from people who never even visit the area. A vote will give the stakeholders a chance to have their voice heard rather than just this kind of shouting match among people who don't have the best interests of OUR community in mind.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I could not care less what the fat fake preachers want to call this street as long as their church members continue to get killed on it. We are going to get to 180 murders this year and their isn't a damn thing the fat fake fried chicken eating preachers can do about it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. You can call it dog poop if you like.....but it will always be the Paseo....just like the Paseo bridge

    ReplyDelete
  27. A murder on The Paseo? It must have been perpetrated by white folk trying to discourage the name change.

    Oh, it wasn't?

    Then never mind.

    ReplyDelete
  28. It's time we change 71 highway to Martin Luther King Memorial Highway

  29. For decades "black leaders" have only been about self-enrichment. This had been studied and documented, but we can't talk about it.

Until they get better leaders, smarter, more dedicated, blacks will suffer.

  30. MLK Monkey Loves Killing Blvd. Perfect name.

  31. Martin Luther King Jr. is the icon of a failed idea.

  36. Suggest the ministers hold collections in their churches to pay all costs for changing Paseo name. This will include paying for businesses changing letterheads, return envelopes, business cards, etc. Then see how much enthusiasm remains when money not coming from all taxpayers.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The preachers won’t like that because they won’t be getting that money for themselves!

    ReplyDelete
  38. The African American community should focus on stopping the crime in that area. While they are marching for a street name change there kid's are in gangs and selling drugs and some stealing to buy drugs. And having a shoot um up.over teritory.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Do a name deal like Prince. The King / formally known as The Paseo.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Someone mentioned this on another blog and it’s certainly more appropriate. “Sly James historic homicide blvd”
