FANTASTIC VOYAGE!!! KANSAS CITY EAST SIDE TOUR TOUTS ECONOMIC COMEBACK!!!

Take a look at this municipal motorcade touting urban core propaganda that doesn't actually offer much insight into the economic struggles of the inner-city neighborhoods but instead advocates the interests of developers and politicos.

Take a look:

KCTV5: Bus tour works to show off improvements in East KC

Deets:

"Community leaders feel there's a renaissance happening in communities east of Troost and they want to show off the developments at 18th and Vine and other neighborhoods along Troost and Prospect.

That's why the Urban Neighborhood Initiative organized Saturday’s bus tour.

They took people along the Prospect corridor and showed them some of the housing and business projects in the works . . . There have been several major projects in the area in the past few years, like the recently completed Kansas City Police Department’s East Patrol station."

Sadly, this civic cheerleader junket ignores the fact that many East side residents have legitimate criticism of how East Patrol was established. Moreover, police stations aren't usually touted as economic drivers in ANY other community.

You decide . . .

  1. Tony, where's your imagination? I see all sorts of economic opportunity following east patrol. Lamar's, Krispy Kreme, Dunkin... The possibilities are endless!

  2. Did they drive them by 9th & Brooklyn to show them where our latest black-on-white hate crime took place? How about by Jeffrey McDonald's place to see where another unsolved black-on-white hate crime took place, shot in the back as he had his head in the engine of his car working on it? Did they go by the bus stop o Troost where a few years ago some of the local diversity raped a passed out girl in the middle of the day because, and I quote the perp, "because he thought she was dead?" Did they drive them by shitty house after shitty house tha were once nice until the black plague moved in? Did they point out at 18th & Vine how badly it is doing and only survives on taxpayer subsidies? Did any of the people on the bus question why some of the buildings still had false storefronts on them from a movie made in the fucking 90s? Black people are a fucking joke. A dangerous fucking joke.

  3. They be smoking some mighty fine weed on that tour if they think they saw any improvements.

I bet if you had opened the windows on that bus it would have looked like the opening scene from Up in Smoke.

The only renaissance happening is more freebies for the non -workers and less cops chasing the thugs.

Did anyone stop them to bum a smoke?

  4. Why is it called the east side when it’s really the central core? Us real eastside people past the sports complex are tired of them embarrassing the real eastside

  9. Yes, private investors and businesses are just falling over each other to put their money and hopes in an area where they first have to try to work with an incompetent city staff and local grifters looking for their cut, spend extra money for security for their buildings and employees, suffer large premiums for liability insurance, and constantly be concerned about senseless murders like the one that just took place.
A great majority of money being "invested" on the east side is tax money that is funneled through the usual suspects, is all about "getting our fair share", has nothing at all to do with actual financially sustainable businesses, and most of which disappears into thin air.
The 18th and Vine Jazz District a thousand times over.
    Just like the downtown "renaissance".
    Fantasyland!

  11. Did the tour go past Jason Parson’s new building at 18th and Vine? It’s a testament to how showcasing your race and not your ability can make you successful. However, there is all this chatter about how he could actually afford that building even with all his city MBE contracts? Corrupt corrupt corrupt!!
