TKC EXCLUSIVE BIG 12 TRAVEL ADVISORY!!! KANSAS CITY COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA COULD BE TOO DANGEROUS FOR COLLEGE BASKETBALL FANS NOW THAT VIOLENT TEEN FLASH MOBS HAVE RETURNED!!!
Not so long ago the NAACP issued a travel advisory against Missouri as a response to discrimination legislation and rampant profiling.
And now amid the return of "unruly" youngsters to the County Club Plaza . . .
OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY OFFERS TODAY'S BIG 12 TRAVEL ADVISORY AND WARNS FANS OF COLLEGE HOOPS ABOUT KANSAS CITY'S LONGSTANDING COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA DILEMMA!!!
Check the latest links documenting the controversy . . .
Fox4: ‘Mayhem on the Plaza’: Multiple people assaulted during disruption Saturday night
KMBC: Employees said police told several stores to close down early due to the crowds.
Three people were assaulted Saturday night on or near the Plaza, including an employee at the Cheesecake Factory on his way home from work. The other two assaults ended with a group of teens stealing phones from the victims.
“We just thought, 'Oh, when are the bullets going to start flying?' and I told my kids, 'If something starts going off, hit the ground,'"
Whilst we love to clown and joke local issues . . . Here's a few documented reason to take this word of warning seriously . . .
- Visitors who don't know the score are often beat down, a little more than a year ago a trio of theologians suffered a near fatal attack when they underestimated the threat of violent teens on the Plaza.
- As teens and older denizens leave the Plaza and wander into surrounding neighborhoods, the danger worsens as denizens of Hyde Park can attest after a series of horrific smack downs last Summer confirm.
- The code of silence from police and merchants amid this ongoing debate doesn't inspire much confidence that the issue will merit renewed attention from authorities and local leaders DESPITE the fact that curfew rules don't apply and special consideration might be merited to protect otherwise clueless fans of college hoops.
Of special note . . .
It seems like KCMO wants to keep Big 12 fans herded within the confines of the P&L District anyway . . . While the location is boring, offers very little in the way of local fare and doesn't benefit homegrown biz at all . . . Sadly, it might be the safer option.
Accordingly . . .
CHECK THE TKC TRAVEL ADVISORY: BIG 12 B-BALL FANS SHOULD KNOW THAT THE PLAZA ONCE AGAIN CONFRONTS 'MAYHEM' AND DANGEROUS TEEN MOB MARCH MADNESS!!!
We expect follow-up coverage from reactionaries and some well-meaning Conservatives who want to endlessly debate racial identity politics and make bold anonymous statements . . . While that might be fun for people who are sadly home-bound or bored at a dead-end job . . . The reality is demographic considerations don't really help somebody suffering a smack down and so our TKC blog community is dedicated to public safety and serving as a resource with today's warning rather than engaging in the racial blame game that hasn't resulted in any progress on this topic over the course of a decade.
