This one's is sort of scary inasmuch as a law enforcement official is touting development hype talking points from city hall. However, we're not too worried given that everything related to the big money Downtown real estate game is smoke & mirrors and kind of a playground to make bold claims with no proof.
Here's police reassurance AFTER FIRST NEWS FROM OUR KICK-ASS BLOG COMMUNITY . . .
KCPD Chief's Blog: City and KCPD work toward master plan for downtown parking
Deets:
"We’ll begin a period of public education this month, which will include issuing a lot of warnings in lieu of tickets. This will allow people to develop a downtown parking plan that will be fair to everyone and allow businesses to be successful."
Our blog community doesn't dispute any of this and we're actually thankful the KCPD is keeping their hands relatively clean during the upcoming parking ticket money grab.
Sadly, nothing about this posts addresses ORDINANCE #180061 - A recently passed local law Authorizing and outsourcing with a third party contractor to enforce parking rules inside the loop.
And so, very much like most communications from 12th & Oak . . . This bit of Internets spin is pleasant and reassuring but might not keep cars safe. As always, we advice locals to carefully obey parking rules and maybe just submit to rampant parking price gouging throughout Downtown.
You decide . . .
So, no parking tickets this month?
ReplyDeleteCOOL!
Warnings are a great idea. But I'm worried that the river market parking costs will eliminate a lot of streetcar riders who were using the route to find lower parking and then go to their jobs around crown center. While there may be an initial bump in revenue, in the long run we're better off having those people making stop all over downtown and putting money into our economy.
DeleteWatch out next month
ReplyDeleteKCPD reads TKC.
ReplyDeleteLOL!
The line about downtown real estate is true. A place for fools and their money.
BS, I parked in a lot that has long been free this morning, only to receive a healthy $40 parking ticket... No warning here.
ReplyDeleteSIMPLE-- DON'T GO DOWNTOWN
ReplyDelete^^^ Sad but true.
ReplyDeleteChief warned traffic officers to write more tickets or be sent back to the field on dogwatch.
ReplyDeleteDo they want us to visit downtown or not ? I am starting to think NOT.
ReplyDeleteIf the officer writing me a ticket looked like the one in the picture I'd have absolutely nothing to bitch about.
ReplyDeleteI’ve been the field for 21 years. I’ve never been in trouble and I’ve ALWAYS written tickets to those that deserved to receive them. If Traffic can’t write tickets and wants to bitch about doing their jobs then get rid of the unit. Fuck those whiny ass over paid fuckers. I’m tired of hearing poor me, why does the chief want me to do my job? If you won’t do it, leave.
ReplyDeleteFACTOID :
ReplyDeleteFor years the public has been able to go downtown River Quay area and park without paying and enjoy the river market, Steam Boat Aribia etc.
Then this Degenerate Communist Liberal Mayor gets into office along with his other Commie Lib'tard Degenerates on City Council and they start this bullshit !!
Wonder how much of those parking fees are being Secretly funneled back into COMMIE Liberal Mayor Sly James Pockets $$$$$$$ , of YOUR MONEY ????
That's how those Degenerate Lib'tard Commie's work, too, just like that phony piece of shit TOY TRAIN Street car that needs to be TOWED by Tow trucks all the time and can't operate when theres a little tiny bit of ICE on the streets ,,,
of course the commies aren't going to tell ya about any of that shit tho',,,,,,,
Downtown RIVER MARKET on its way to SLUMVILLE very soon , and soon to be Vacant and filled with Ghetto' Crime !!!
Thanks to the pathetic decisions of KCMO Mayor SLY JAMES and the entire KCMO CITY HALL of Degenerate pathetic Communist scumbags !!!
Do what I do. Warn everybody away and spend my money at home. BYOB and come over.
ReplyDeleteTHERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON OTHER THAN WORK OR JURY DUTY TO GO DOWNTOWN. STAY AWAY!
ReplyDeleteIs there a third party corporation that can handle homicide investigation? I guess no sense in going there since the city government wont make a dime off it.
ReplyDeleteThe revenue from parking tickets issued in the City Market parking lots does not go to KCMO. It stays with premier parking, the contractor hired to police the area. They have an incentive to write as many parking tickets as they can. If you blow these tickets off and don't pay them Premier parking will eventually turn you over to a collection agent and screw up your credit.
