TKC SUNDAY SPECIAL!!! PROGRESS STALLS ON NEW KANSAS CITY ANIMAL SHELTER NEARLY ONE YEAR AFTER YES VOTE!!!

Once again it seems that Kansas City activists were duped by much smarter politicos into supporting tax increases whilst their pet project isn't even close to a groundbreaking almost one year after voter approval.

A quick refresher . . .

Question 3 - A $50 million bond designated approximately $14 million to the building of a new city animal shelter as well as necessary upgrades to many city buildings to get them up to ADA compliance.

That was back on April 4th of 2017 and so far not a single shovel has hit the ground.

Remember that local media and politicos promised . . . Kansas City Ready To 'Hit The Ground Running' On New Animal Shelter

Even worse, clueless animal rights activists pledged to voters that ballot language "guaranteed" their shelter would soon materialize.

Now here's where it gets even more fun . . .

CITY HALL IS BACKTRACKING AND SCALING BACK PROMISES FOR THE PROPOSED ANIMAL SHELTER IN THE MIDST OF AN ANIMAL CONTROL PRIVATIZATION DISPUTE AND SUBSEQUENT OUTCRY REGARDING MINORITY EMPLOYMENT!!!

Along with building the new animal shelter, KCMO wanted to outsource animal control to the KC Pet Project. The push back was fast and furious after a story TKC broke revealing that the move would FIRE a largely minority workforce and put it in the hands of very well-meaning but politically naive white ladies.

The animal shelter has taken a backseat to the downtown hotel and the new animal shelter.

Even worse . . . The new animal shelter is no longer a "white hat" proposal but an effort that pushes controversial municipal privatization efforts and threatens the jobs of a largely minority work force.

There is some hope of progress later in the year despite upcoming outcry from former and current animal control workers wanting to preserve or replace their jobs.

Meanwhile, animal rights activists are guilty of misleading the voting public about the new shelter now that KC debt is piling up and the cash allotted for the pet project is already dwindling while politicos get ready to go back to the voters for yet another tax increase.

Developing . . .

  1. A lot of people warned them this would happen. Nothing about elections is "guaranteed" and there are all kinds of loopholes are legal but safeguards against voters wielding too much power. I imagine that we're just going to do a rehab of the old facility because KC will need that money to service debt and for the airport.

    1. Kansas City has the best government money can buy.

    2. So I guess we'll have another fake groundbreaking just like the upcoming mike burke affair for his junk bonds that nobody wants.

Here's what you don't know. They aren't even close to showing any real designs for the new facility. They'll probably come up with some drawings real quick after Tony's post but nothing detailed. Not a real plan. The location and the wish list is just too big for the money allotted.

A little bit more irony, that general obligation bond money is disappearing quickly and we're getting to a point where KCMO can weasel out of this project by claiming a lack of a funding mechanism.

  3. Sorry to be cruel here but KC is just too big for a "no kill" shelter. We don't have the capacity to run animal control like a charity. Some of the dogs and cats will need to be put down.

That is one of the points that the airhead at KC pet projects are confused about.

  5. And some of you really thought KC would be in the running for the Amazon 2nd headquarters, even though the Presbyterians told you why didn't come in 1988. Nothing has changed except more businesses and talent have left.

  6. Gay sLIE stole more taxpayer money for his own personal use, he’s a big time crook now stealing from helpless little kitties and cute little puppies.

  7. Where do all these stray animals come from? That’s right, the ghetto. Soon as the coloreds learn that they have to actually feed and water them and train and cleanup after them they throw them out on the street, which is what we should do to them!!!

  8. Wasn’t that bond money that was voted on, the same unwritten bond money that they can use for whatever they want bond money.......thought so, you retards that voted yes to bonds you get what sLIE wants not what you want, and another thing, you voted for that retard now live with your mistakes

  9. It's so easy to lie and steal in KCMO. City government has been doing this to the taxpayers for as long as there has been a city. No one cares about making the city a better place. It's all about how much they can line their pockets.

  10. "Threatens the jobs of a mostly minority workforce", God forbid that Blacks have to compete for their livelihoods like everyone else on Planet Earth. The Humane Society Of Greater Kansas City, in KCK is a no-kill shelter. I guess the sun doesn't rise and set on what Blacks want and endlessly demand.................in Kansas. Thank God !

  11. No such thing as a no-kill shelter. They're always at capacity and have to turn people away dooming strays to a life of starvation, hardship and terror until they die. An injection is more humane that that kind of death.

  12. it is really unbelievable they want to tear out the frisbee golf course for this building.

There are at least two parcels of property just east of the frisbee golf that a building can be built (with a parking lot).

  13. Bought a dog at the shelter and did not see one non-white employee there. Perhaps I was just there on white day or perhaps Tony is feeding bullshit to his base reader.

On the shelter itself, we have been probably duped by Sly. The city is already backtracking on its commitment to relocate the disc golf course as part of the shelter project.

The city govt is all fucked up

  14. Money raised by promises of spending it one way and having it disappear for something else entirely?
    In KCMO?
    Shocking!
    Want to see it again?
    Just wait for tomorrow.
How are the Swope Park soccer fields doing?
