TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! CITY HALL FUNDING MASSIVE DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY PARKING TICKET CRACKDOWN!!!

The 12th & Oak war on motorists escalates in 2018 with big bucks transferred to target parking offenders.

Here's a look at pending legislation . . .

Ordinance #180061: Reducing appropriations in the Downtown Parking Control account of the Public Works Department by $145,000.00; transferring the same amount to the Kansas City Police Department; and appropriating the same amount to the Downtown Parking account in order to enhance downtown parking control and enforcement.

Highlights of the costly effort . . .

- Targeting motorists along the streetcar route and clearing cars that have consistently slowed down the toy train.

- Authorizing and outsourcing with a third party contractor to enforce parking rules inside the loop.

- Hiring ten more KCPD parking control officers.

This is important for a lot of reasons but mostly this one . . .

WHILE THE LATEST KANSAS CITY MURDER SPIKE DIDN'T EARN ANY LEGISLATIVE ACTION FROM CITY HALL, CLEANING UP DOWNTOWN PARKING GARNERS CASH AND RESOURCES FROM MAYOR & COUNCIL!!!

To make matters worse, so far we've seen a great deal of this parking enforcement targeting small biz and workers trying to eke out a living in the midst of fragile developer schemes that blame typical Downtown traffic for their limited success.

You decide . . .

KC bassackwards again.

We finally get more people downtown and now they want to attack their cars and make sure they never want to come back.

you heard it here first said...

Let's not forget that ticket prices for parking fractions are also slated to go up. Just one more present for anybody trying to do business in Downtown KCMO.

Tickets have been going up pretty steadily. Nowadays, they're about the same cost as a speeding ticket and there's absolutely no appeal which is kind of strange and a sign that it's really just a moneymaker for the local authorities.

Kansas City hates cars.

Ride a bike instead and become one of the good guys.

Get the parking meter app.

I am glad Tony's Kansas City is is around. I check this site about 2 times a day for the last 6 years and I have learned where to visit in Kansas City Metro area and where to avoid. Thanks Tony for this site from a loyal reader in Topeka.

Making up for lose revenue from drunk check points. Downtown is a buzzard trap. Lure people with money to come to town and then prey on them. Screw Jackedup County.

KCMO, a city of less than half a million population with the number of murders over half that of New York, with over 8.5 million residents, and these city hall clowns are hiring more parking meter maids and worried about their make-believe downtown.
Folks in KCMO deserve exactly what they continually get from what passes for city government.
You really can't get priorities any more upside-down.

Parking control officers....yeah, that's what we've been demanding.

In short Gypsy Tow Trucks who will haul your ride off if it's a 1/4 inch over some line.

As you can see it's all about the street car that costs the taxpayers millions to operate.

Black people park anywhere they want; time to get that shit under control.

"As you can see it's all about the street car that costs the taxpayers millions to operate."

No, dumbass. No.

10 more ticket masters?!
How many cops would that cover?
Oh wait, homicide isn’t exploitable. $$$$$$$

Here’s another reason why I refuse to live or work in KCMO. I can see downtown from Parkville, but I will not spend one cent in downtown KC. Corrupt and comical.
1% earning tax hard at work on these 10 new meter maids bitches!

Just wow.

I live downtown and have for several years. This has been a long time coming. My neighbor has at least 75 parking warrants and straight up will not follow the parking laws. The roads are narrow and uncontrolled now. Getting home takes forever sometimes because of idiots causing traffic jams. I’m not a fan of tickets, but those idiots need to police themselves. If they won’t do it, tow their damn cars.

Parking tickets is one sure fire way to get Kansas City off the top 10 most dangerous cities.

You can shoot our kids but do not slow up our train!

Anonymous said...

They dont care if they get towed because they stole that car anyway. They’ll just carjack someone else.

If we’re talking about hood rats, what’s wrong with that?

Is it a coincidence that this is gong into effect at the same time KCMO is cracking down on parking in the City Market/River market area? I think not. KCMO sees parking tickets as a big revenue source. I have a business in downtown KC and am in the process of relocating to NKC, 5 minutes away, where I don't have to worry about my customers getting a parking ticket if they are at my business 5 minutes over the parking time. Bye Bye KCMO.

This is discrimination against gay people. Lots of queers go downtown because lots of other queers live there. They go there to get buttfucked and to suck dick. They should be excused for not parking legally.

This will not be a problem for anyone who pays what is required to park. It will be a problem for anyone who habitually refuses to pay or does not pay what is required. Frankly I think it's a good move and long overdue.

The folks that concocted our "urban renaissance" have some delusion that KC is more like Portland than Omaha. First they built this lofts (glorified condos) that were supposed to appeal to kids right out of college that cost 300K and had 500 / month HOA dues. When they realized the only people who could afford that were at least in their 40s, they started building fancy apartments. Guess what? Same problem, but instead of paying 2000 / month towards ownership, you're just renting. Meanwhile, the number one reason to live downtown (it's because you work downtown) is shriveling up because those businesses have moved to the burbs because we can't afford anymore take abatements.

Chapter two of this stupid revival was this toy train. I like to call it the Caucasian Express because every Saturday and Sunday when I want to have a coffee at the City Dinner and a nice leisurely breakfast, I have to fight some jackass from Olathe for a seat. Worse, if gotta deal with the breeders from Whiteyville who brought their fucking kids on the free choo choo who are now screamin/ cryin and just misbehaving. The Caucasian Express brings more gawkers than dollars and when the novelty wears down, it's just going to ferry hobos from Washington Square Park to the Library.

I have mixed feelings about increased parking enforcement. As a middle aged, doughy, bald white male, I've got a hard enough time getting trim to come over because the city has cock blocked me with its lack of available parking mixed with the general sketchiness that comes with living in a city with a high murder rate. Making it harder to park here will mean more nights at home with me and Jenna Jameson. However, make it a pain in the ass for the dude in Blue Springs to find a decent spot to park his F-150 with the truck nuts, then maybe his kind will stick to partying at Class Reunion or Whiskey Tangos.

Nobody gives a fuck about you or any of the things you whine about. The reason you can’t get any tail is because yes, you don’t care to get in shape, but you’re boring and self centered to the fucking core.

Kansas City, Missouri residents should be offered the chance to buy, say, a $50 annual parking sticker that allows them to park on any KC street for free -- esp downtown and River Market.

Of course they would still have to abide by 'no overnight parking' and other restrictions, but I say charge the non-KCMO residents for parking; jack up rates on hourly parking, let Parkville and Olathe residents pay the top rate for prime city parking.

Increasing parking rates is not cost prohibitive - people will still visit the River Market and downtown.

This is one way of forcing people to ride their stupid streetcar and get the numbers up.

5:06 summed it up perfectly.

With all the taxes citzens pay, no one should ever have to pay to park anywhere in this shit town. AGAIN the dumbest humans in the world ALLOW the local leaders to pass such ordinances!!! Shame on you and spank yourown ass all the way to work next Monday when you wonder why you work so hard and have 2 dimes left at the end of the week! #dumbhumans!!

Greedo said...

Read the post @5:06 if you haven't already. They pretty much laid it out plain and simple.

The only thing I can add is that KC can't complain about crime when this is the kind of political leadership they're offering. We need elected officials who are serious about helping the public, not just driving up revenue.

Absolutely agree with Dave.

This makes the tow truck business Downtown's #1 growth industry.

Ticket time in KC. Great way to kill more business Sly! Thanks a lot.

gay sLIE is a complete idiot, parking, toy train, airport and hotels are his only priorities

Watch City Market wither and die when you have to pay even to park for 10 minutes and get a cup of coffee. That's coming next month, suckers. Elect morons, get a clusterfuck. Law of diminishing returns.
