TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY PARKING CRACKDOWN THREATENS MASSIVE INCREASE IN FINES & LEGAL TROUBLE!!!

Thanks to KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS, our blog community was FIRST to break news of City Hall contracting with private companies to increase parking enforcement in and around the Downtown Kansas City loop.

And then, we offered a glimpse of the legislation already approved and underway.

Now . . .

TOP ECHELON KANSAS CITY INSIDERS WARN OF A KANSAS CITY PARKING CRISIS THAT WILL COST DOWNTOWN VISITORS BIG BUCKS AND PRESENT VERY REAL LEGAL CHALLENGES FOR THOSE WHO IGNORE FINES!!!

First and foremost . . .

Metro drivers must be on notice: Tickets from private companies are REAL and carry the same kind of fines as those issued by police i.e. you'll go to jail if you don't pay them.

Expect legal challenges on this topic but City Hall has already cleared cash for legal defense of this issue as City Hall depends on collecting greater fees amid toughening economic times.

Here's the kicker . . .

THE PRICE OF KANSAS CITY PARKING TICKETS IS SOON TO SKYROCKET THANKS TO THE PRIVATE COMPANY CRACKDOWN!!!

As always, it's safer just to read the fine print and make sure a parking spot is legal . . . But people are often in a rush when the park downtown. And so, higher fees and companies that offer even worse customer service than City Hall will be carte blanche when it comes to this crackdown. Like it or not: There is very little chance of appeal or reprieve from a private company crackdown when they make their determination on an alleged infraction.

And so . . . This crackdown slated for Spring/Summer is just another factor driving up the Downtown KCMO cost of living which continues to spiral out of control.

Developing . . .

  1. This reminds me of the streetcar fines. Those were an invasion of privacy. It looks like KCMO didn't learn its lesson and will have to pay for it again.

    1. ^^^ Actually, no the parking fines are totally legal and something that other cities do all the time.

    2. Just another reason to avoid a visit to KCMO or the crossroads. Overrated and expensive!

  2. I think when they see how much business they are going to chase away, City Hall might reverse course on this. I know we want to keep vehicles away from the streetcar line but overall this is going to make those precious JoCo dollars turn away quickly. A big mistake. I know KCMO claims there will be some restaint here but those attendants are almost paid on commission and they do have quotas. They will be making big bucks for their companies and the city. Thanks for the warning, T.

  3. I would posit that most Kansas City drivers don't know how to read various 'no parking' and limited parking street signs -- esp those from JoCo and Missouri suburbs.

I mean, they never got tickets in Olathe or Blue Springs, no matter where they parked. Why would downtown KC be any different. Seriously, this is a mindset I've heard many times.

  4. Kcmo needs all the money they can get. But have $ 512,000 for bike lanes on Armour Blvd starting in April / May

    ReplyDelete
  5. it's not right to turn over legal enforcement powers to private companies.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Think red-light cameras with timing designed to entrap motorists.

    ReplyDelete
  7. LIKE IT OR NOT

I guess repeal the parking laws if you shit your pants over their proper enforcement.

    ReplyDelete
  8. really dirty trick on KC voters here. We need more police, not meter maids. This is just taxation on drivers. Plain and simple.

    ReplyDelete
  9. this will breed distrust of kcmo government, as if they needed that.

  10. 7:44 +100, unfortunately.

The city is killing the goose... .

  11. OH GEE 7:43, that makes it A OK !

  12. Nothing new here, cities all over the country are turning to tickets for profits. Some are using private attorneys to prosecute then they bill citizens for their legal fees if they contest a ticket. Good news is when these scams are contested cities lose in court and end up paying huge settlements.

    ReplyDelete
  13. red-light camera redux.

    ReplyDelete
  14. If a city can't manage its own parking and traffic law enforcement, what can it manage?

    ReplyDelete
  15. There are all kinds of activities cities should be privatizing. Law enforcement is not one of them. Certainly not when the private company earnings are contingent on writing tickets.

We have enough corruption in public law enforcement when assets are seized for profit.

    ReplyDelete
  16. If you think private parking fines are a bitch you should check out the state of Maryland where mall cops can not only issue tickets, but investigate crimes and refer cases for prosecution. Another decade and the cops wont have to do anything except give people a lot of shit. Your bureaucratic tax dollars at work! Cops bitched and moaned until everyone got alarms and then they bitched and moaned because they actually worked. Now they force businesses to have cameras. Pretty soon they will be fucking worthless for much of anything except being fund raisers for the cities. I can't wait for Cop Scout cookies to come along.

  17. The reason I don't go downtown. An event at Bartle Hall can cost upwards of $50 so people can sell you stuff. I an park at a baseball game cheaper than some lots downtown.

    ReplyDelete
  18. This is for the elitist. This is all designed to keep the low life’s out of downtown, the poor people and especially the coloreds don’t have money to spend so in sLIE’s mind his downtown is safer

  19. Downtown: A place none of you pants-shitting goons has ever been. You are not welcome there. Don’t speak of what you don’t know!

  20. Look, let's get the facts straight. Maybe these contractors can write you a ticket but you are not going to jail. First the jail wouldn't know you were there. Second this is to pay for the "FREE" streetcar. Some people would just pay the ticket, money in the bank. Some people would ignore the ticket, like 90% do now, so not out anything. Some people get indignant and fight the ticket, dismissed, lose money.
It's a gamble on KCMO's part that they pocket some money towards the streetcar debt.

Has anyone checked to find out where the money for the "FREE" streetcar comes from?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wrong dummy. Add yourself a long list of people who didn't pay their parking tickets and heard Hocus Pocus 12th and Locust

  22. 9:44 your a complete idiot that knows nothing, downtown will end up a ghost town like it always has been, it may take ten years but it will sit empty once again like it did for decades before this. It’s just one big cycle that just happens to be on the top notch right now. No amount of free money can save it so get your bags packed sonny boy, your time is nearing an end. Cycle of life sonny boy, cycle of life

    ReplyDelete
  23. 9:36: True. I used to go to the Home Show at Bartle Hall (for more than 20 years). Now I go to the ones in Overland Park. The last one I went to at Bartle Hall was a shadow of its former self. I suppose a lot of people are going to where they have a place to park free.

    ReplyDelete
  24. if red-light cameras were outlawed by the courts, won't parking ticket privateers be subject to similar legal vulnerability?

    ReplyDelete
  25. The corporations profiting from writing tickets will rig oarking just like they did the stoplight cameras: confusing signs, broken payment meters, etc., etc. Fines will be disproportianately high. Legal due process will be thwarted.

A year later, courts will nix the scheme.

  26. Just another reason NOT to go downtown.

  29. Meh. What's $50 - $100 for a good parking spot? Some people pay thousands of dollars a month for a parking space in bigger cities. I don't see the big deal. Especially when downtown is booming. I mean, what would you honestly rather do? Go downtown for the actual night life or go to some over 40 singles bar in Overland Park?

  40. The Streetcar taxing district vote by the Council of 10-2 shows how totally corrupt this council is. The voting for the Taxing District was a total sham. I hope the State steps in to require a new vote by those in this taxing district.

But, but Glazer said he was going to go and save the P&L area by moving something down there. Boy talk about a fucking has been. Wait who am I kidding he never was a somebody just a rat snitch convict. You know if Glazer moves into an area if it isn't already a shit place it will be soon.

So paying big money to park to see his shit I will tell is for damn sure not in my future.

  44. Fags don't have any rights at all. There is nothing in the Constitution anointing homos a protected class. This stupidity has only came about since the Advent of Supreme Court judges funded by George Soros.

It has to be giving away free money downtown to make it worth driving down there putting up with the dregs of society and paying ridiculous prices for everything including parking.
